Chapter 77 77
Alexa's fingers tightened on the steering wheel as Stella's voice resounded in her ears. She had been pregnant. He had gotten her fvcking pregnant and still made her loose the baby just like that.
He should have stayed with and made sure she was safe. No. No. He said he was threatened, so he shouldn't have gotten her pregnant in the first place.
Liam….she took a deep breath, resting her head. She needed proof. Her phone rang at the side an she turned her head slowly. Talk of the devil.
“How did it go?” He asked enthusiastically.
“Where are you?” Her voice came out cold.
“I'm…..at home.” He seemed to be shocked by the way she spoke. Alexa ended the call immediately and turned the car on, immediately driving towards Liam's house.
She was about to ring the doorbell when her eyes went to the pin. It had always been their marriage anniversary date. She wanted to know if it was the same now. Alexa released a light breath and took the motion, punching the numbers in.
A click.
The door opened.
Her shoulders fell. It was still the same. She didn't know if she was to he excited about this or annoyed. She didn't know what to feel as she walked into the house.
Mad?
Annoyed?
Or..
Her bag fell from her hand, hitting the ground hardly as she saw their wedding photos, still on the wall. Had Stella visited this house for five years, still seeing her pictures and that of Liam's?
She didn't hear his footsteps as he walked down the stairs and Liam stared, finding her eyes locked to the frames on the wall.
“You are here.” He muttered.
A tear slipped out of her eyes and she cleaned it immediately, making sure her face was dry before turning.
“What's all these?” She asked, pointing to the frames.
“Our-”
“You should have thrown them away. The moment you let me sign those papers and walk out that door. You should have disposed everything. You should have changed the key lock. You should have moved. Why did you stay here, and keep on living!” She shot.
“Because one day you might come back. If you did, where would you find me?”
“Come back and do what? And beg?” She asked. His brows leaned closer, “Wh-what?” He asked.
“You didn't expect I'd come back stronger, did you?” She shook her head and chuckled lightly.
“Don't be stupid, Liam. I'm not that easy, okay? The moment you accepted those shitty threats, you should have really ended everything!” She snapped.
“They were not shitty, they were life threatening!” Liam shot in response.
“They were the one that made the hairs on my skin stand. Knowing you are all alone at home with no one to protect you. I would be so scared and drive right him, just to see you are safe. It was the one that got me placing secret cameras all around the house just to watch you and know you are alright. Did you think I could concentrate at work? No, I couldn't. I would either rush home frequently, break a meeting just to watch you or get alerted and all hypertensive when you were leaving the house. They knew every of your movement, Alexa and the problem was that, no matter how hard I search. I just couldn't find them. I just couldn't protect you from them.” He muttered at the last sentence
Alexa bit her lips, her eyes glassy, “Why did you get her pregnant then?” She asked and his eyes widened.
“How did you….
“You didn't think I'd find out about that, no?” She asked and he gulped.
“Alexa-”
“I know you slept with her, okay?” She moved backwards, “you said that before. But…” she released a shaky breath, “how could you….how could you abandon her just to find me?” A tear escaped from her eyes.
“That baby was innocent. How could you let it die?” She asked.
“I had no idea, Alexandra. She kept it a secret from me, until that night when she lost it, I swear.” He pleaded, his heart hurting in his chest. He could feel it, his hands were shaking so much he had to tighten them.
“I can't…” she shook her head, “not when blood is involved.” She picked her bag and walked to the door, about to open it when Liam suddenly hugged her tightly from behind.
“I let you go that time. It'll be the last.” He muttered and a warm touch filled the side of Alexa's shoulders. It took her a moment for her to realize that he was crying, just like she was.
“Then this time, let me let you go.” She muttered and unlocked his fingers, opening the door. It closed with a loud bang and that was when Liam realized she was really going to leave. He opened the door immediately, rushing out while her car engine revved.
“The kids!” He screamed, “They want us together. What about the kids!”
Alexa listened but she just couldn't stop, not now. Not when she knows how he worked things out. She couldn't.
She would stay, just one day to celebrate the kids birthday with their father but after then, Alexa knew it'll be the last.
