Chapter 78 78

Chapter 78 78
“What are you doing?” Antonia hit Liam on the head and he stirred, his eyes opening slowly. She scoffed loudly, shaking her head as she counted the bottles of drinks on the table where he had slept off.

“Six bottles. Do you plan to be drunk when you go for your children's birthday!?” She shot and his eyes widened.

“Shit!” He gasped, turning on his phone. There were three missed calls each from his mother and then Cassidy. Alexa didn't call.

“Mum, I have to get ready.” He muttered as he rushed up the stairs, hitting his leg on one of them. That didn't stop him till he got to his room.

While he was under the shower, he noticed the banging headache that was crazily disturbing him. Shit. He shouldn't have drunk so much last night, but he couldn't hold it. He realized how harmful he'd have been if he didn't drown himself in the drinks.

His hands went to his hair, moving it backwards as the water rushed down his body. His heart palpitated fast in his chest. He must find a way to solve this.

“Liam is here.” Cassidy said as she watched from the window, “I almost thought he wouldn't come any longer.” She hissed.

Alexa licked her lips, “I thought that too.” She muttered.

“It's his kids birthday. How could he be so late? They went up in anger, thinking he'd ditched them.” Cassidy replied and went to open the door, right when he was about to knock. He couldn't knock actually, cos his hands were filled with different packages.

“The kids birthday gifts.” He raised his up, seeing Cassidy's fiery face.

“Go upstairs and get the kids down. They are mad.” Alexa said like she could care less about him, but in fact she didn't. She wanted the kids to have a good relationship with their father if she couldn't. She couldn't deprive them of that opportunity.

Her eyes ran over him in the black shirt and shorts he wore, the same with theirs, she and the kids. It looked good on him, she could only say that in her head though. What would happen if Liam found out she creates her first sample of male clothes in his size?

She sighed as she walked to the kitchen, knowing his eyes followed her. But she knew he wouldn't talk about it for the sake of the kids.

“Kids.” Liam twisted the door knob and the door flew open.

“Daddy!” Jade flew from the bed into his arms as she hugged him tight.

“We almost thought you weren't coming anymore.” She whined.

“I'm so sorry I was late but I couldn't miss your birthday for anything in the world cause I love you guys so much. Happy birthday, princess.” He said and she giggled.

“Thank you, dad.” She said. Liam glanced over to Jace who was staring at him heatedly and he smiled, ruffling his hair.

“I hate that.” Jace shot.

“I can help you style it to mine. Would you guys love to take matching hairs with mom and dad?” He asked.

Jace's face seemed to brighten and Liam smiled, “Happy birthday, my prince.” He said. Jace looked away staring at the packages at the door way.

“Are those gifts?” He pointed.

“Yes. What would a birthday be without lots of gifts?” Liam asked.

“Gifts are just a formality. Family is the most important thing.” Jace replied and Liam pursed his lips.

“How are you so smart?” He muttered, patting Jace at his back.

“Cassy, we'll be back soon.” Alexa waved with the kids.

“Alright. Have fun!” Cassidy waved back and the kids rushed into the car. Alexa pulled Liam back slowly. He stared at her.

“I'm sorry for asking this of you but for the kids sake, can we just act like-”

“I get it.” Liam cut her short. She looked up at him, her hand rubbing the elbow of the other.

“I'm not going to give up on you, Alexa. But I'll do whatever you want.”

“Give up.” She muttered, “Just be with us for today and you can give up tomorrow.” she added and immediately got into the passenger’s seat. Liam sighed, licking his lips in agony as he got into the car.

The ride to the amusement park was a rollercoaster of itself with the kids singing every exciting music they could think of. Once, Jade even created a new tuneless beat and sang it so excitedly with a lot of enthusiasm.

At the amusement park, the kids joined every ride they could, played every single game, wore the monster mask and ran pursuing each other and for sure, Alexa and Liam had to join in all of their fun. They did everything together.

When they got crazily tired, they sat down to have a little picnic but the kids still played around in the sun after eating the food Alexa had prepared.

“I think I'll have still done it again.” He muttered and she glanced at him, her legs shifting uncomfortably on the thick piece of clothing. She had almost forgotten that they weren't in good terms after all the laughing and playing together.

“I would have still gone to look for you, Alexandra, because you are the one my heart chose, not Stella. It could never be her over you. Not in anything ever.” He said and she gulped down nothing.

“She lost a child.” Alexa shook her head.

“And I'm sorry for that. If I have to apologize over and over again, I will. But please, Alexandra, you'll be letting my life crumble if you leave it. You'll destroy me.” He begged.

“It’s not as easy as you think. I…..” she stopped, I also want you. But could I really bare it? She didn't speak again as she suddenly stood up.

“Kids, what other game would you like to play?” Alexa asked.

“Let's go skating.” Jade clapped her hands and Alexa scratched her head nervously.

“I can't skate.” She muttered.

“Daddy will teach you.” Jace pointed at Liam, and the man saw a cunning smirk on his son's face. What were the two kids up to?

“You promised mom, that you would do whatever we want for today.” Jade cocked her head, folding her hands.

“When did I say I wasn't going to do that? A promise is a promise.” Alexa cleared her throat as she looked at Liam, “Teach me how to skate.” She muttered.

Few minutes later, they were all ready and while the kids skated freely, Alexandra couldn't even move an inch.

“You were so scared to do this with me before? Who knew the kids would make you?” He asked and she glared at him.

“I'm sure I can learn in five minutes.”

Five minutes later, and Alexandra was on the floor.

“God.” She groaned, raising her hand,”Help me up.” She muttered.

Liam helped her,”This time, don't be stubborn and hold me for support. I know you don't want to touch me but seriously you could get injured in this place.” He warned.

Alexandra almost got out of the place but the kids stared at them leisurely from the opposite side and she pressed her lips tightly together to suppress a frustrated scream, “Fine!” She shot, holding him tight. He led her across the ice till a smile formed on her face.

“I think I'm getting the hang of it.” She said, her eyes lighting up in such a way that melted his heart, “I never knew it was this exciting.” She said loudly.

“See, I told-”

Bang!!

Alexa stumbled forward and hit his chest, making Liam to lose balance and fall on his back hardly on his back, her on him. Her lips landed on his hardly and his eyes widened, all pain dissappearing from his body at once.

Alexa gulped, her eyes hooked to him in shock and she didn't get up until when the crowd started clapping. She immediately scrambled to her feet, and scattered her hair to cover her face, before rushing out of the place.

Jace and Jade giggled quietly, giving themselves an high five.

"Alexa. Alexandra." Liam looked for her everywhere with the kids and when he heard some mumblings, he stopped.

"Yeah. Alright. I'll be on my way right now, okay?"

He turned, just to see her coming out from the place. Her face flushed instantly.

"Huh, can you take the kids home? I've...I've got somewhere to be right now." She said and immediately left the place, hailing a cab.

She couldn't think nor breathe. The AC was on yet she still used her hands to fan her face which was beet red.

"Are you okay, ma'am?" The driver glanced at her and embarrassment filled her immediately.

"Of course, I am fine. Just the heat." She mumbled and he laughed.

"You look flushed. What? Did something good happen between you and your man?" He laughed out.

"Huh... what the...no... nothing!" A series of words escaped Alexa's lips.

"It is nothing to be shy about. It's a good age to be in love." He said and she smiled lightly, shrugging as she turned to the side.

"Whatever." She muttered. Her face suddenly lost all color as bright lights shone in her eyes.

It was just in a second. Alexa didn't have time to think. Her life never flashed before her eyes in that second. All she saw was the bright light and then the impact of the hit and then she saw nothing and felt nothing as she fell into unconsciousness.

The truck had crashed into their cab.
