Chapter 49 Forty nine
Alexandra blinked.
"Why would you acquire a share of my company?" She asked, the moment she walked into her office, knowing fully well that Ryder would follow her.
"Why can't I?"
"This is my company, you can't just do things that way."
"I believe shares can be bought and sold without the owner's permission. You are doing everything to keep me out of your life, Alexa." He said, his voice lower than it usually had. Alexandra took a deep breath.
"This is purely business and not because of personal relationships. You bought shares because you find this company good and not because you like me. That's it, right?" She asked and Ryder stepped closer to her. She didn't move back, her eyes stared into his, waiting for his affirmative response.
"I can't say that, Alexa. You are only saying that because you don't know what goes on in my mind."
"Keep your thoughts to yourself." Alexandra responded and walked to her seat, sitting on it.
"Why did you let Liam help you while you rejected my help?" He asked and Alexandra's lashes fluttered.
"I didn't let him help me."
"You didn't push him away either. You actually let him take the reins."
"Liam was my ex husband."
"The more reason why you should stay away from him!" He snapped.
"You don't tell me what to do!" Alexandra shot, her face creasing. This was going to be bad, really bad. Ryder was not supposed to be here.
"We'll meet again during the next meeting." She said. It was simply saying he could get out.
"You are telling me to leave, aren't you?"
"Yes. I need time alone."
"I'm in your space." He said and she nodded, "That's exactly where I should be. Don't give your heart to Liam, he can't take care of it like I would."
"That's proud."
"You'd be proud if you know your worth." He tilted his head and walked out of the place, before she could give her response.
Alexandra sighed, her head in her palms. She didn't have time for this. She needed to wrap things up quickly.
Doreen walked in, dropping a file on the table.
"It's weekly fashion shows, you and Mr Jordans have been invited. Should I tell them you won't be available?" She asked.
Alexandra skimmed through the paper.
"How is my schedule for the weekend?" She asked, her face devoid of any expression.
"You wanted to pick up new materials by yourself from the branch which opened two months ago." Doreen informed.
"Cancel it."
"But we already made appointments with them."
"You can tell them we will come next week okay? Don't you know being on shows like this is also marketing?" Alexandra closed the file, dropping it on the table and her eyes caught the flower.
"Throw this in this trash can! Who asked to put a vase for it?" She asked irritatedly.
"You did." Doreen reminded her and Alexandra blinked.
"Well, I don't want to see it again. Don't accept any gifts from Glamour Holdings."
"Glamour Holdings didn't send it, it was Mr Jordans." Doreen corrected.
"Doreen!"
"Alright ma." She said and picked the flower, leaving the office in a hurry. It was obvious that Alexandra was in a bad mood. She had been overworking herself since morning, attending a lot of meetings and preparing herself like she was about to enter a battle field.
The design was the joggers was supposed to be made in the later part of August but Alexandra had suddenly started working on it at April. It was so crazy. It would be an hectic week for everyone and Blue was leaving for Paris in the midst of all these.
"Is anything the problem?" Grace asked as Doreen got to her seat.
"Oh no, nothing is." Doreen replied with a smile.
"Is the boss inside?" She asked and Doreen nodded.
"I'll like to see her."
"She's not in a good mood right now. It's not advisable to go in." Doreen replied.
"Okay." Grace nodded and sighed slowly, "By the way,...." She hesitated, "Did Blue do anything wrong to be sent to Paris?"
"Does Paris looks like a prison?" Doreen asked, a comical look on her face.
"No, it's just...."
"Ma'am. I'll love to be sent to Paris if only the boss would allow it." Doreen said.
"I just feel like that came at the right time. Blue did something wrong."
"Which the boss has forgiven. You are not her problem now. She doesn't have time to focus on what Blue did." Doreen smiled and walked away.
The corner of Liam's lips curved upwards as he stared at the letter before him.
"You mean to say I and Alexander were invited to this?" He asked, biting his lower lips whole rubbing his jaw with one hand.
"Yes. And good news is she agreed. I didn't think she would. It seems clearing the argument calmed her heart down." Eugene said.
"Maybe or maybe not. Maybe she's actually just giving me a chance like she promised." He bit his lips tighter, trying to hide the smile that threatened to escape.
"I'm excited."
THE WEEKLY FASHION SHOW
"And here, we welcome Miss Chapman and Mr Jordans on the show." From each side of the background cover, Alexandra and Liam stepped out.
She had her seat, passing a smile to Liam across the room. He blinked, his hands unconsciously tightening.
"We'll go straight into the news that has made a commotion for the week. After clarifying about your past, neither of you gave any clarification about your present or your future. I would like to ask Alexandra first, do you see yourself back in Liam's life in the future?" The reporter asked.
Alexandra chuckled, "No, I don't." She suddenly said and Liam's teeth clenched tightly together.
"Liam abandoned me when I was pregnant. He left me for Stella. He gave me a divorce letter the morning after my 25th birthday. He gave me a birthday gift I never bargained for."
