Chapter 48 Forty eight
Alexandra opened the door and turned the lights on. Jade and Jace lay on the bed, covered with a really thick duvet, which they had successfully manged to kick away.
She walked towards them and covered them properly, placing Jade's head on the pillow. She stirred and Alexandra thought she would wake up, but she didn't.
She kissed them on their forehead and muttered sweet some-things before walking out of the room, only to see Cassidy at the other side, waiting for her.
She closed the door quietly and walked towards her.
"We need to have a really good discussion. Come downstairs." Cassidy said and Alexandra pressed her lips against each other, following her to the dining.
"What did you say to your kids?" Cassidy asked, pouring a cup of wine for both of them and Alexandra sighed.
"I don't know. I was really mad and...."
"You shouldn't transfer your aggressions to my babies, Alexandra. That's wrong of you." She interrupted.
"I know. But Liam was there and all that stuff, plus the news...it was so much to take in at that moment."
"And that was why it was simple for you to send them away." Cassidy said and Alexandra's brows hit her hairline.
"Send them away? I would never do that!" She said.
"I think the like Liam more than you." Cassidy said.
"Jade, obviously. But not Jace."
"Jace too. Liam took them skating and played basketball with Jace. He went tango dancing with Jade."
"He doesn't know how to tango." Alexandra rolled her eyes.
"But he did it, because Jade knows how to tango. He rented out the whole place."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Can't you forgive him?" Cassidy asked and Alexandra's fingers stopped on the cup. The trailings, the drawing of imaginary figures stopped.
"Cassidy." Alexandra muttered, broken heartedly.
"It was Jace's exact words." Cassidy said.
"Personally, you know. I prefer Ryder a lot. Even if he hadn't done much but like you, he's still better than a scumbag we know. But your kids, they want Liam. They want him so much." Cassidy held Alexandra's hands.
"I knew it would come to this," Alexandra pulled her hands away and got up, "My revenge was short lived."
"You wanted him miserable, he's miserable."
"He's not! He's not going crazy the way I did and I won't stop till that is achieved. I'll beat him in everything and because he pretending to be perfect to my kids, I'll make it worse. I'll show him, that I, Alexandra cannot be messed with. He can't fool me, no matter what. No man can fool or trick me into loving them anymore. Not Liam. Not Ryder." She said and walked to the stairs.
"They might be verbally bullied. Jace and Jade because they don't have a father. Kids are also humans." Cassidy said and Alexandra gulped down nothing, her hands fisting beside her tightly as she took slow steps and finally walked up the stairs.
The closing of her door followed and then whispers, sobs. Cassidy downed her glass down. It was why she hesitated to bring about the topic, knowing what it'll do to Alexa.
Her phone beeped, the screen turning on and she saw a message.
"Come out." It read. Cassidy walked towards the window and didn't see anything. Not his car nor he, himself.
"Where are you?"
"In front of Alexandra's house. I can see you. You are at the window." The message came in and Cassidy immediately wore her flips flops and walked out of the house.
She rushed to the gate and saw him standing in the dark. She managed to see him clearly, s corner of his lips titled upwards.
"What are you doing here?"
"I couldn't find you in your house." He said.
"You know...my house?" She asked bewildered and he snatched her phone away from her.
"I almost thought you were having fun against like that night." He smirked wider an sh eyed him.
He pressed his contact on her phone and looked at her, "ONS?" He asked.
She pressed her lips tight, rolling her hair in her fingers.
"I didn't know your name." She said.
He nodded, "So you had no choice....but to save my number with One Night Stand? Is this...how you saved all the numbers I called you with?" He asked.
"Hmm." She said almost inaudibly.
"What are you doing?" She asked when she saw him typing.
"Sam." He said and looked at her, "That is my name." He said.
"Tsk. I didn't ask." She replied and collected her phone. He saved the number with his name, well, saved her the trouble.
"Who is Alexandra to you?" He asked.
"My best friend. We are like family." She replied, "But you didn't come to ask about that, did you?" She asked.
"You seem excited for something."
"I'm actually kinda down and if someone can get me high, I'll appreciate it."
"Is it right for you to go without informing her?" He tilted his head to the mansion.
"I made her mad. I talked about something I shouldn't have." She replied guiltily.
"If you had to say something, I know you would." He said nonchalantly.
"Yeah, but if it's hurts so bad? I wouldn't."
"Why not?"
"Are you human?"
"What do you think?" He asked.
"Just...get me out of here but bring me back safely." She said and he nodded slowly as she walked forward. Sam looked up at the mansion, his eyes unblinking and unusually dark.
"Alexandra Chapman." He muttered.
"We'll be releasing something new. To make up for the distrust and commotions concerning me these past few days. I'm sorry for the problems I've caused, but my head is back on track." Alexandra said during the meeting with all staffs and shareholders in her company.
"Why don't we release the new sports attire you talked about before?" One of the shareholders asked.
"Yes, I have been working on that myself. It is almost a finished project and the new designs would be finally brought to life." Alexandra said and ran her eyes over the members.
"Where's Mr Colt?" She asked.
"Oh. Mr Colt is in the hospital right now. He has been diagnosed with cancer and sold his shares."
"What do you mean he sold his shares?" Someone asked.
"Did you know about this?" Alexandra whispered to Doreen and she shook her head.
"Oh, he's here." The man who responded said and the door opened, Ryder stepping in.
"This is Mr Welland, the man who acquired Mr Colt's shares."
