Chapter 80 BLAZING FEVER

Chapter 80 BLAZING FEVER
Godiva POV

“You want to speak to me and not Dina?” I exclaimed, still in disbelief.

“Yes please, it won’t be long,” he replied, putting on a puppy face.

“Div, I’ll be waiting for you upfront,” Dina said, walking away hesitantly. From her countenance, I knew she felt embarrassed.

“What you did wasn’t necessary, you’d have revered her presence and done what you did in a more reasonable manner,” I bickered at Ben, almost shouting.

“Don’t worry about her, she’s my woman, I’ll go after her once I’m done here. I just needed to show you both how serious I was with having a private conversation,” Ben said, smiling.

“Alright, that’s for you two to handle,” I said, raising my hands in total surrender. “So, what do you want to speak about?” I asked him, sounding serious.

“I know it’s really not in my place to talk to you about what’s happening between Jerald and you…”

“Exactly, it is not in your place,” I cut in arrogantly.

“That’s mean,” Ben laughed.

“I’m really sorry,” I whispered, feeling bad.

“It’s no problem,” he smiled, revealing his beautiful gap tooth. “The thing is, I’m really not here to make excuses for Jerald, I’d be stupid to do that. Truth is what he did wasn’t decent and I’m truly sorry you had to witness that.”

I stayed quiet, folding my arms tighter.

“I don’t know the decision you may have taken after witnessing that,” Ben continued, “but I’d tell you one thing, Jerald really loves you to the core. I see the true definition of love with how he speaks about you.”

I scoffed lightly.

“I know what he did with Abigail at the party doesn’t show love in any way, but he was actually very tipsy,” he added.

“Tipsy men suddenly forget where women’s boobs are?” I barked.

Ben sighed at my interruption but continued anyway.

“Since I knew Jerald, he’d never had any business with love, he was just enjoying the moment being with Lis. He is still learning to love and have self-control.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Honestly Jerald has never abstained since he grew up, he was either frolicking with Lis or any other girl. Since he became clear about his feelings for you, he tried abstaining from any other woman, and that’s a good try for someone who is used to something.”

“That sounds like a very poor certificate of morality,” I muttered.

Ben laughed despite himself.

“Like I said, I’m making no excuse for him, but please give him an opportunity to speak with you,” he concluded in an orderly manner, like a rehearsed speech.

“Are you done talking?” I asked calmly so I wouldn’t sound arrogant.

“Yes, I’m done,” he replied, taking a deep breath.

“I get your concern for your brother, and I respect that, but I can’t let my feelings be trampled upon with the excuse of he’s trying to abstain or whatnot. Truthfully, I’m human so I’m definitely hurt by what he did, so he needs to give me time to heal at my own pace and forget that irritating sight, then we can know what will happen from there,” I said with all seriousness.

“Alright, please don’t take a decision while you’re still angry,” Ben teased, smiling at me. “Well, I have another problem to solve upfront,” he added, running after Dina.

“Everything Ben said to you is correct, you don’t just expect a Casanova to turn a saint in days,” Dina laughed after I narrated my discussion with Ben earlier on.

“Girl, are you for me or against me?” I bickered at Dina, making a gun with my fingers and pointing it at her.

“Jokes aside Div, you need to start learning how to compromise, love is tolerance, you need to learn to tolerate in your relationship,” Dina advised seriously.

“I know what I can compromise with, but hell no, not cheating, I don’t plan on being a glorified side chick,” I said, trying hard to control myself from laughing when Dina beat me to it.

“Whatever dude, just fix your issues with him and set background rules, that was a mistake we both made before we started dating,” Dina added.

“I’m not sure if that’s happening anytime soon, because whenever I see Jerald, that gory image randomly pops up in my head,” I said, shuddering.

School went flat that day and I returned home early, slept early, and got up to study.

“Morning Mama,” I said, hugging Mama still drowsy from sleep.

“Why does it feel like you’re running a temperature?” Mama asked, placing her palm on my forehead the traditional way.

“It’s probably a fault from your receptors,” I teased Mama, taking her hands off my head as I walked away to the kitchen.

“Can I please not go to school today, Mama?” I asked, sounding weak.

“Why?” Mama attacked immediately.

“I really don’t feel well all of a sudden,” I responded, resting my head on the table.

“Well, you have a competition fast approaching baby, you can’t afford to be absent from school,” Mama said, clearing my plates from the table. “I’ll get you meds when I’m off work,” Mama continued, heading to the kitchen.

She didn’t even give me a chance to negotiate. She hurriedly set things in order and ordered me out of her house for school.

“I can’t believe you’ve not spoken with Jerald for over three days,” Dina said as we walked to school.

“I also can’t believe it, I miss talking to him a little,” I said, sounding drunk.

“Why does it sound like you’re drunk?” Dina teased, laughing at me.

“I don’t feel well,” I replied, counting my steps.

“It’s not possible Div, you’ve never been down since your conception,” Dina mocked me.

I had barely reached my classroom when everywhere became a bit blurry, making me stagger.

“Sorry,” I said, raising my head to see whose arms I had just run into in the hallway.

At the sight of Jerald, I removed myself from his grip and walked away to the class.

It felt as though the world went quiet. I knew Jerald was talking to me, but I wasn’t hearing what he was saying.
