Chapter 79 BURIED SPARK
Godiva POV
“And there’s more.”
“Spill girl,” I urged eagerly.
Dina leaned in. “Amanda was arrested on her way home from the party, Police searched her car and found drugs in it.”
I slapped my palm over my mouth before bursting into wild laughter. “No way. Amanda?”
“The one and only,” Dina cackled.
“Oh my God, this is the best thing I have heard since this stupid party happened,” I squealed excitedly. “Serves her right. Tomorrow just got sweeter,” I declared in excitement.
We laughed over Amanda’s downfall for a while before Dina finally left, and the next morning came quicker than expected.
..............
Early the next morning, I went to Dina’s house to confirm if she was strong enough to go to school, when I walked in on Mrs. Job taking off the cannula from her hands.
“I guess you’re going to school then,” I said to Dina with a frown which made wrinkles appear on my forehead.
“Why does it sound as though you’re not excited that I’m strong enough to go to school with you?” Dina asked, being suspicious of me.
“Don’t even think about it girl,” I snapped. “I really don’t wanna be in school equally today, so a part of me was hoping you’d refuse going, so I’d have a valid reason to stay back,” I said, throwing myself on the futon that sat at a corner in Dina’s room.
“Good morning to you too Diva dear,” Mrs. Job said, walking out of the room with the used cannula.
“Jeez Mama, I’m so sorry, I got carried away,” I exclaimed, going after Mrs. Job. “Good morning Mrs. Job, hope you had a wonderful night rest,” I said, standing in front of her and imitating Barney.
“How are you darling?” Mrs. Job asked, smiling and wrapping me in her arms.
“I’m good, I’d have felt better if we weren’t going to school,” I replied, pouting.
“Well, that’s the price you have to pay for success, so hurry and get ready for school,” Mrs. Job said, patting my butt.
“Why does this school feel weird today?” I asked Dina as we walked through the hallway to our classroom.
“Well, that’s only because you’ve not been in school,” Dina replied as we walked into the classroom.
“Let’s get this day started, shall we?” I said, dropping my bag on the desk.
“Hey Diva,” Slosh said, stretching his hands to me for a handshake.
“Hey Slosh,” I replied arrogantly, ignoring his hands and looking away.
I almost burst out laughing at the malicious way Jerald glared at us as we spoke.
“Hope you arrived safe the other day, you left in a haste,” Slosh asked, smiling at me.
“I did, can you now stop talking to me please,” I said, using the side of my eyes to look at Jerald whose eyes were now burning with anger.
He kept mute for a while before he continued, “Don’t you wanna know how the rest of the party went?”
“I know you got in a fight with Jerald, what am I supposed to do about that?” I thundered, glaring at him in a terrifying manner.
“Relax, I wasn’t trying to get a thanks from you, but why do you speak to me in such horrible manner, from the first day I introduced myself to you?” Slosh barked at me, with fury all over his face.
“What?” I whispered to Dina who was glaring at me and pointing her head toward Slosh. I knew exactly what she wanted from me, and I felt guilty with my responses to him.
“Erm, I’m sorry Slosh,” I said, tapping him lightly. “Forgive my responses, and thank you for standing for me at the party,” I said after a while of silence.
All through lectures that day, Slosh didn’t speak to me, and I didn’t speak to Jerald.
“Pardon my manners, I forgot to ask you how your conversation with Ben went yesterday,” I asked Dina as we walked through the hallway to the library.
“Nothing much, he kept on apologizing and making promises I’m sure he wouldn’t keep,” Dina responded with an attitude.
“But Di, don’t you think you’re taking this a little overboard? Come to think of it, he really didn’t do much to deserve this attitude,” I said, laughing at the way she looked at me.
“Beautiful, a pot calling an electric kettle black,” Dina retorted sarcastically.
“Bro, I have a valid reason, I wish Jerald just went away to hang around without doing anything absurd, just like Ben, then I wouldn’t have him in mind until this time,” I retorted, laughing at her.
“Hey broke bitches,” Lis’s voice called out from behind.
“Do we just ignore or?” I asked Dina in whispers as we kept walking.
“At least Jerald never put his hands in another woman’s boobs while he was with me,” Lis mocked at me, causing Dina and I to halt at the same time.
“Ow, the bitch wasn’t deaf all along,” Lis said turning to Abigail.
“How could he have possibly done that when you were always stuck to him like lice to a dog?” Dina retorted, laughing at Lis.
“You’re wrong, he didn’t do any of that out of respect for me" Lis said ridiculing me.
“News flash girl, you won’t be able to take a headcount of the different girls Jerald got intimate with at the trip,” I said mocking at her as I burst out laughing at her facial expression in regards to what I said.
“That’s a lie,” she protested in disbelief.
“Ask his partner beside you then,” I said with a smirk, pointing to Abigail.
“Good job girl,” Dina said to me, raising her hands for a high five as we walked away.
Dina and I burst out laughing at the heated arguments that were going on between Abigail and Lis behind us.
“Diva,” Jerald called out approaching me in a panic. “Hope she didn’t do anything to you?” Jerald asked, turning my face from left to right inspecting it.
“I think she’ll need your explanations now, and next time, learn to control your barking dog,” I said arrogantly, walking away from him.
“Go girl,” Dina cheered turning back to look at Jerald. “Damn brutal girl, I think you damaged his emotions,” Dina said still looking at Jerald who was standing on same point I left him.
Dina and I studied for over two hours at the library before we finally decided to call it a day.
“I think we’re getting better at solving these problems,” Dina said smiling hard.
“Definitely, practice makes perfect,” I replied smiling as we stepped outside the gigantic school gate.
“Please can I have a minute of your time?” Ben asked popping out of nowhere.
“What!” I exclaimed jumpily.
“Have you been waiting here since the close of school?” Dina asked.
“No, just after research school,” he replied, looking at her with the sexy eyes he always looked at her with.
“I’ll wait for you upfront Di,” I said to Dina, attempting to walk away.
“Not Dina, you Diva, can we talk for a bit?” he asked sounding serious.
“What!” Dina and I exclaimed at the same time.
