Chapter 47 WHAT I SAW
Godiva POV
“Who cares if Diva still has feelings left for Leo?” Jerald said, unbothered, but he wasn’t a good pretender. His facial expression sold him out. It was as if he said one thing and meant another. “Take this,” he added, handing us the snack as he turned to walk away.
Unlike Dina, who was bothered about what Jerald heard, I was unbothered. What I saw earlier was living rent free in my head.
It kept replaying. He was the one supposed to feel bothered, not me. Seeing Jerald in that position felt like I was cheated on, but we weren’t a couple or anything like that. Nevertheless, it felt like my head was being toyed with.
“I really don’t care about what he heard,” I said aloud out of the blue.
“But girl, he doesn’t know you saw him in a position like that, and that was what led to what you said. And did you see the shock on his face when you said that?” Dina said, giving me a high five.
“Then so be it, or what should I do?” I said nonchalantly after a few minutes of silence.
“Maybe a confrontation. You tell him why you said it,” Dina suggested.
“You’re funny. How do I explain it to him? Am I to say, ‘I said all I said because I saw you in an awkward position with your fiancée?’” I asked rhetorically.
“True, makes sense,” Dina chipped in, chuckling. “You can’t confront him since he’s not your boyfriend, and he did what he did with his girlfriend,” she continued.
I checked the time, and we were late for our next class. Dina and I rushed back.
“Why are you both strolling into my class five minutes after the end of break?” the mathematics teacher asked, looking at his wristwatch.
“Sorry, sir,” we both chorused and walked to our seats. Unlike me, who would usually check if Jerald was looking my way, I walked in without even noticing his absence in class.
He walked in only a few minutes after us and was asked the same question by the mathematics teacher. The only difference was that we apologized, but he simply walked in without a word.
After classes, I couldn't even nurse my wounds in peace when Amanda ambushed me.
“Oh, you thought I would let you go that easily, right?” she asked as she walked seductively toward me.
I was genuinely scared, but I threatened her instead. “Your gang isn’t here to jump me, and your brothers are not here to threaten me. The two of you don’t stand a chance against me, so you better leave me alone.”
“I’d love to experiment on that. Get her,” she said, pointing her fingers at me.
I didn't wait to be attacked. I rushed forward, but Amanda had a plan.
In three moves, I had knocked Amanda's friend aside. The next thing I felt left me speechless.
The shock almost made me pass out on the spot. Amanda had a taser, and she zapped me with the full current.
I begged her, but she wouldn't stop.
I fell to the floor, and she stared at me, smiling profusely.
She pinched her breast and moaned as if she was enjoying the torment I faced.
Before I could recover, she ordered her friend to use the taser on me once more.
I cried, and she moaned seductively again. This was some sick, twisted torture.
When she had her fill, she laughed sarcastically and left the bathroom as I sat on the floor gasping for air.
I arranged my clothes, put on some makeup, and pretended nothing happened. I needed to devise a plan to deal with her for good, but right now, I had much more pressing matters to attend to.
When I stepped out of the washroom, I met Dina.
“Are we skating today?” Dina asked as we were about to part ways.
“Definitely yes,” I replied, forcing an obvious fake smile.
Skating truly was medicine. While I was at the skatepark, I didn’t think about anything that happened. I focused on learning new stunts. We formed teams and kept competing until we all got tired.
“Let me get us ice cream,” Dina said, taking a dollar from her pocket. “We’ll need it while walking home,” she added, heading toward the ice cream truck.
“We have S.M.A.D to prepare for. I really hope you get a grip of yourself soon,” Dina said as she handed me the ice cream.
“You should know that by tomorrow I’ll be totally fine,” I replied, tapping my ice cream against hers.
We went to school very early the next morning to prepare for the competition. We solved over a hundred mathematics questions in less than an hour. We felt proud of ourselves since we had improved compared to the last time we timed ourselves.
All through classes, I tried my best not to look toward Jerald’s corner, but the moment my eyes drifted there, I noticed him resting his head on the desk. For the first time, I regretted that he overheard what I said.
It was finally time for lunch, the time I anticipated the most. Dina and I were both hungry since we didn’t eat at home before coming to school, and we weren’t given money for the long break.
“Why are you rushing to the hall?” Ben’s voice came from behind as he pulled us back.
“You wouldn’t understand even if I explained it to you,” Dina replied as we both slowed down.
Unlike other days when the food was ready before lunch, on this day, it was delayed for about thirty minutes.
After waiting for what felt like forever, the food was finally ready. Ben, Dina, and I rushed to serve ourselves without wasting time.
I had barely taken five spoons of my food when a voice came through the speakers in the dining hall. It was normal for students to pass announcements through the speakers while we ate.
“Announcement for today,” a voice spoke softly.
Dina and I locked eyes and smiled at the same time because of how calm and soothing the voice sounded. Nothing prepared us for the horror behind the message.
“Today’s story, or should I say announcement, is about a girl in this school who was warned against falling in love by her single mother,” the voice continued.
All my hairs stood on end, and my heart began pounding sporadically.
Oh my God... what the hell is wrong with this boy?
