Chapter 46 A SHATTERED DREAM

Chapter 46 A SHATTERED DREAM
Godiva POV

My heart began thudding even faster as his lips touched mine.

“Diva, Diva!” Mama’s voice echoed.

“What brought Mama to my class?” I thought to myself.

“You are late for school already, girl,” she said, slapping me hard on my back.

“What!” I exclaimed, waking up in a panic.

“Why are you still sleeping by this time?” Mama said, swinging my curtain open.

“What!” I said, rushing out of my bed in a panic.

“What’s the time, Mama?” I asked, rushing into the bathroom.

“You have barely ten minutes to be in school,” she replied.

“Get a hold of yourself, girl. What kinda dream is that?” Dina thundered as we rushed to school.

“Detention!” the discipline master shouted as we ran into the gigantic school gate.

“You are late by twenty minutes, and you know the punishment for that.

“Sir,” we chorused, trying to give an excuse for our late coming.

“No excuses,” he snapped back, signaling we shut up.

“I feel it in my soul, today is gonna be a good day,” I said, smiling to Dina as we walked toward the school building.

“Does our position now look like a good sign?” she thundered.

“I’m sorry for delaying you,” I said soberly, holding on to her hand.

“Let me be,” she teased, trying to get my hands off hers.

“Hurry to your class!” the discipline master’s voice echoed from behind us. We ran toward class.

“Wait up,” Dina said. “We are going to get in trouble with the geography teacher in class if we use the main entrance.”

“So what do you suggest we do?” I asked in a concerned tone, stopping to look at Dina.

“We will hide and let the discipline master pass, then we use the emergency staircase and go in through the window at our seat corner,” Dina spoke with so much confidence.

“You are really delusional,” I said to her, nodding from left to right as I attempted walking toward the staircase.

“You will not be the cause of my downfall today,” Dina announced, pulling me to hide under the dark staircase that led to our classes.

We stood there for a few minutes. It was only after the discipline master passed to the staff room that we came out of there, breathing hard, since the place was suffocating.

“Haew, your second attempt at killing me failed yet again,” I said to Dina, looking her in the eye.

“Shut up,” she teased as she slapped me lightly on my shoulders.

“Let’s use the emergency staircase at our class,” she said, dragging me out the exit hurriedly so no one would see us loitering around.

“What!” Dina exclaimed, looking straight at the emergency staircase at grade 11.

Unlike the other staircases, the staircase was attached to the wall of some classrooms, thereby making it a little bit covered. People usually hid there to commit lots of atrocities like smoking or even fornication.

Rumor had it that the corner was called “preg alley” because a student once got laid there and took in.

“Sush,” Dina said, pressing her palm over my mouth as we both looked at the alley. I felt dispirited for the first time in a long while.

Why was I there at that time to see Jerald in such an awkward position with Lis, pressing her hard against the wall, with his mouth running through hers like a hungry lion devouring its prey, and his hands moving simultaneously through her butt and boobs, her legs spread as she was fixed on the wall?

“I’ve been scarred for life,” I whispered to Dina as we stood outside the class window, observing when our teacher would face the board so we could use the opportunity to jump in.

Harris, who was sitting beside me, gave a signal for us to come in the second our teacher stepped out to pick a call.

“Boom!” came a loud bang accompanying our falling into the class.

We both missed our step and didn’t land well. Mine was as a result of what I had seen earlier, but I didn’t know the exact cause of Dina’s fall.

“Thank you,” we whispered to Harris as we took our seat, while the rest of the class were thrilled at how we came in.

No one ever thought of the window as a sneaking route until that day. I guess it was only Dina’s criminal mind that could come up with the thought of following that route.

It was not long after the geography teacher entered and continued teaching for a while before he noticed our presence.

“Wait up, how did you two get in the class?” he asked us.

“I, we, we…” Dina said, stammering.

“We’ve been in the class since,” I replied confidently.

“What!” he exclaimed, looking confused. “Class, were they here ever since?” he asked.

“Yes sir,” the class chorused, covering up for us. I had never thought a day would come when my classmates would cover for us, since I felt no one cared about us.

I didn’t pay attention all through geography class. I kept looking at Jerald’s empty seat and imagined how deep they had gotten in what they were doing.

Shortly after the geography teacher left, Jerald walked in, smiling uncontrollably and cleaning his lips.

“My nigga,” Hakeem exclaimed, shaking Jerald hard. I was pissed, or will I say disgusted, at the sight of both of them.

For the first time in a while, Dina and I went out during the break hour. I needed space, far from the suffocating classroom and view of Jerald.

We sat on a staircase at the volleyball court quietly.

“So much for having a good day,” Dina mocked at me. “But don’t let what you saw get to you. Since you’re not even dating, just avoid him for now,” Dina said seriously.

“I really don’t know. It’s like I’m having lingering feelings for Leo because what is this feeling?” I said dispirited.

“She didn’t mean what she said,” Dina suddenly said, making me confused.

Looking up, I saw Jerald with my favorite snack standing right behind me.

Oh my God, he heard me!
