Chapter 59 With Another Woman
Olivia's fingers were trembling as she struggled to dial Jason's number. As soon as the call connected, she couldn't help but cough. "Jason, I feel really awful. Can you... can you come help me?"
Her voice was weak, and her stomach cramped again. She quickly hung up after speaking and rushed back to the toilet.
After what felt like forever, the doorbell rang urgently.
The maid hurried to open the door. Jason walked in quickly with a medical kit, heading straight for the bathroom.
Seeing Olivia slumped over the toilet, her face pale, Jason's heart sank. He dropped the kit and supported her. "How did you get this sick? Did something upset you again?"
He handed her some warm water and pulled out anti-nausea medicine from the kit. "Take this first. I'm taking you to the hospital."
Olivia shook her head, leaning against the wall to catch her breath. "No need for that. It's just nausea. The medicine should help."
She swallowed the pill and sipped the warm water, feeling a bit better.
Jason helped her to the living room couch. The maid brought over some warm broth, and he patiently fed her a couple of spoonfuls. "Where's Luca? Isn't he supposed to be here for you?"
At the mention of Luca, Olivia's lips twitched into a bitter smile, her eyes full of sarcasm. "We had a fight. He left."
Right now, Luca was probably at the hospital with Windy.
Jason frowned, feeling upset for Olivia. "Luca's such a jerk. He's always the one hurting you."
Olivia didn't say anything. The little bit of grievance left in her heart was overshadowed by the discomfort of vomiting.
Just then, the villa's front door swung open, and Luca hurried in.
He still carried the smell of hospital disinfectant. Seeing the two of them in the living room, he paused, his gaze toward Olivia instantly filled with anger.
He'd been thinking about Olivia the whole time at the hospital, worried sick about her. As soon as Windy fell asleep, he rushed back.
And here was Olivia, seemingly fine enough to meet Jason!
"Jason, what are you doing here?" His tone was full of displeasure.
Seeing Luca return, Jason immediately stood up, blocking Olivia with a cold stare. "Luca? You actually came back? Your wife's been throwing up like crazy at home, and you have the nerve to ask why I'm here?"
Luca's expression shifted as he instinctively looked at Olivia. Seeing her pale face, his heart tightened. He pushed past Jason and went to her side. "Olivia, why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?" Feeling guilty, he reached out to touch her face.
Olivia slightly turned her head, dodging his touch. "Would calling you have made a difference?"
Her short sentence carried all the grievances she'd felt for so long.
"In your eyes, I'm just a liar, aren't I?" Olivia stared at him with a mocking gaze.
Luca frowned. "No... that's not it. I came to explain. About the stair incident, I checked the footage. It was Amy who bumped into Windy, not you." His tone softened, full of apology. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions without asking..."
"That's it?" Jason could tell Olivia didn't want to waste words with Luca. He stepped forward, cutting him off coldly. "Care to explain why you suspected Olivia in the first place? Why would you rather believe that manipulative woman than your wife of three years? Luca, if you have any conscience, you'd take proper care of Olivia instead of staying by another woman's side when she's suffering."
Luca clenched his fists, a surge of frustration building in his chest, but for once, he didn't lash out. He knew Jason was right. He had messed up.
"This is between Olivia and me. You should leave," Luca said calmly, but his tone left no room for argument.
Jason wanted to argue, but Olivia gently tugged at his sleeve. "Jason, thanks for helping me. You can go now. I want to talk to him alone for a bit."
Jason hesitated, glaring at Luca fiercely. "If you dare hurt Olivia again, I won't let you off." With that, he grabbed his medical kit and left, clearly angry.
The living room fell silent with just the two of them, the atmosphere turning awkward.
Luca stepped closer to Olivia, reaching out to touch her, but she moved aside. His hand froze mid-air, a strange sense of loss washing over him.
"I know you're still mad," Luca said, his throat tight. "I've already asked my assistant to handle things at the company. No one will spread rumors anymore. I also told Windy to focus on recovering and not to bother you again."
Olivia looked up, her eyes calm, without a hint of emotion. "I'm not mad."
Her words caught Luca off guard.
"If I were in your shoes and someone I cared about got hurt, I'd be concerned about them first too, and probably suspicious of others," Olivia said flatly, her tone matter-of-fact, not sarcastic. "Windy saved you. It's natural you care about her. I get it."
Luca opened his mouth, wanting to say that the person he cared about now was her, but he didn't know how to start.
"I just want to get through this month peacefully," Olivia continued. "Once Grandpa's health stabilizes, we'll go through with the divorce. You don't need to feel guilty or come here to explain anything. Let's just keep things as they are."
Her calmness hurt Luca more than anger ever could. It felt like he meant nothing to her, not even worth getting upset over.
"Keep things as they are?" Luca's tone was bitter. "You're that eager to divorce? That desperate to get rid of me?"
Frustration burned inside him. He was the one who first brought up divorce, yet now he felt like the one being abandoned.
Olivia looked at him, suddenly remembering Jason's words: Put yourself first for once. Take care of yourself. She didn't want to keep getting caught up with Luca or let him mess with her feelings anymore.
"Yes, I want a divorce." She stood up and headed toward the bedroom. "I'm not feeling well right now. You should go."
"I'll stay here with you," Luca said, following her.
"No need." Olivia stopped and turned around. "Having you here makes me uncomfortable. Besides, Windy's still at the hospital. If you stay with her, she'll feel more at ease."
Her words were polite but distant, as if she were speaking to a stranger.
Luca felt a strange sense of discomfort, like there was a weight pressing on his chest.
Seeing Olivia's cold, unapproachable demeanor, the words on the tip of his tongue stayed unspoken.
He knew clearly that nothing he said now would make a difference. Olivia had closed off her heart, leaving him no chance to get through.
"Then rest well. Call me if you need anything," Luca said in a low voice, a hint of helplessness in his tone.
Olivia didn't reply. She pushed open the bedroom door, walked in, and gently closed it behind her.
Luca stood outside, unmoving for a long time.
