Chapter 182 Madwoman
"Miss Ross, I'm here to pick you up for Mr. Compson," the man said respectfully, his tone flat, emotionless.
Olivia nodded without speaking. She just watched him warily and got in the car with him.
The car drove for over an hour before stopping in front of a fancy villa.
The villa sat halfway up the mountain, surrounded by nice views but very remote. No other houses were in sight. It felt cut off from the world.
Soon, the man led Olivia inside.
Jason sat at one end of the dining table in a black suit, hair neatly combed. He looked gentle, but his eyes had a hint of madness that didn't match.
When Olivia walked in, Jason smiled, looking happy. "Olivia, you're here."
"Where's Luca?"
"Don't rush." Jason smiled and pointed to the seat across from him. His tone was still mild. "Eat dinner with me first. Then I'll take you to see Luca."
"I'm not in the mood!" Olivia's chest heaved up and down. Her eyes were full of worry. "I just want to know Luca is safe."
"Don't make me mad." Jason's smile stayed, but his eyes turned cold.
Olivia got the threat. Luca was in his hands, so she had no choice but to go along.
She took a deep breath, sat down, cut a piece of steak at random, shoved it in her mouth, and asked quickly, "I ate. Now tell me. Where's Luca?"
Jason clapped his hands. The projector on the wall turned on.
Luca lay on a bed, face pale, eyes closed. No new injuries.
"Luca!" Olivia jumped up. The chair scraped loudly. "What did you do to him?"
"Just a sedative so he can rest." Jason motioned for her to sit. He had a mild smile. "Stay with me, and tomorrow I'll wake him up and send him to the hospital. He'll be fine. I've waited years for you. I just want us—you, me, and Leo—to live happily." His voice sounded a bit hurt, but he hid his crazy obsession. "I won't get in your way. I just want to stay near you and see you happy."
"In your dreams!" Olivia yelled. "We can never be together!"
Jason's face darkened. The air got heavy, but he didn't snap. "You just haven't seen how good I am to you. If Luca wasn't here, would you give me a chance?"
The words chilled Olivia. She knew he'd do it.
For Luca, she had to calm him down. "Fine, I agree. But you have to keep your word."
"No problem!" Jason smiled right away. He picked up a wine glass, poured half a glass of red wine, and handed it over. His fingers stayed away from the rim. "One sip for our new start?"
"I'm scared you drugged it." Olivia didn't look at the glass and mocked him.
Jason laughed. He grabbed another glass of red wine, took a big drink, and showed her the empty glass. "Happy now?"
Olivia paused, then took the glass and sipped. The wine was smooth, nothing wrong.
Jason cut her more steak and pushed the best part to her plate. He added her favorite garlic butter. "Eat more. You've lost weight."
Olivia wasn't hungry. She poked it twice with her fork and set down her utensils. "I'm done. Take me to him."
"Hold on." Jason handed her a glass of warm water, perfect temperature. "Drink this to wet your throat. We'll go soon. I just want a few more minutes with you. I really treasure you." He sounded sincere.
Olivia worried that refusing would make him suspicious, so she took the glass and drank it all. It tasted normal.
But soon, her head spun, body went weak, and her eyelids got too heavy.
"Jason… you drugged it anyway…" Her voice was faint.
Jason rushed to hold her. His tone was full of guilt. "Sorry. I'm just too scared to lose you."
He picked her up gently, like she was a treasure. "I won't hurt you. I just want you here so you see I'm the best for you."
Olivia tried to fight but couldn't. Her mind faded to black. She didn't know how much time had passed before she slowly opened her eyes.
She was on a soft king bed in a strange room.
The room was fancy. Sunlight came through big windows onto the carpet. It looked warm and comfy, but she felt trapped and scared.
She tried to sit up but was too weak. Her head was foggy, like all her energy was gone. There was still a faint ache—the drug wasn't fully out of her system.
"You're awake?" A snooty woman's voice said, with a touch of mockery.
Olivia turned and saw a woman by the bed in a fancy dress.
She was tall, makeup perfect, wearing designer clothes. But her eyes were full of scorn and hate, like Olivia was trash.
Olivia had never seen her.
"Who are you?" Olivia's voice was rough. Her throat was super dry. She stared warily, full of questions and fear.
"Who am I?" The woman laughed lightly, stepped to the bed, and looked down at her with mockery and superiority.
"I'm Zoe, Jason's fiancée."
Fiancée?
Olivia froze. Her eyes went wide. Shock hit her face.
She never thought Jason had a fiancée.
He'd been so sweet to her for years, attentive in every way. Never mentioned other women. He even said he loved her and wanted to be together. How did this fiancée pop up?
"You're the Olivia who's got Jason obsessed?" Zoe eyed her up and down. Disgust was clear, like checking out junk. "I thought you'd be some knockout beauty. You're nothing special. No idea what he sees in you. He's gone nuts over you and ditched our engagement."
Olivia hated her stuck-up attitude but didn't care to argue.
She just wanted to find Luca, see him fast, make sure he was okay. Nothing else mattered.
"Where's Jason? Where's Luca?" Olivia stared at her coldly.
"You still care about Luca?" Zoe sneered, jealous and smug. "Forget it. Jason won't let him go. He's still out cold. Whether he wakes up depends on you. He blew off our engagement for you. All he wants is you by his side."
Zoe sounded jealous and bitter. "Be smart. Leave Jason on your own and go back where you belong. Or I've got ways to make you suffer."
Olivia smirked. Her eyes showed impatience. "You think I want to be here? If not for Luca, I wouldn't waste a second with you psychos."
"You bitch! Quit acting!" Zoe hated Olivia's attitude. She swung her hand and slapped Olivia's face hard.
A sharp smack. It jerked Olivia's head. Her cheek swelled red and burned. Blood trickled from her mouth.
