Chapter 183 Fiancé
The pain on her cheek hadn't gone away yet, and the bloody taste at the corner of her mouth rushed straight up her nose.
After slapping her, Zoe still wasn't satisfied. She lifted her foot to kick Olivia. "Who do you think you are, acting all high and mighty in front of me? Jason must be blind to fall for a woman like you!"
Olivia instinctively dodged to the side. Her body was still weak, and she almost fell off the bed.
Right then, the door burst open with a bang.
Jason stood at the doorway, his face dark as iron, his eyes staring at Zoe like they were filled with ice.
"Who told you to hit her?" His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a chilling pressure.
Zoe flinched at his shout, her earlier arrogance gone in an instant. She pouted, looking wronged. "Jason, she started it by provoking me. And I'm your fiancée—it's normal for me to teach a lesson to a woman who's trying to seduce you."
Jason strode to the bed in a few steps. His eyes swept over Olivia's swollen cheek and the blood at her mouth, making his face even darker.
"I've told you so many times, there's nothing between us. Can't you understand plain words?" He turned and shouted toward the door: "Someone, come take her away. From now on, don't let her step foot anywhere near here."
Two bodyguards in black suits came in right away and grabbed Zoe on both sides as she tried to argue.
"Jason, you can't do this to me! Our engagement isn't broken yet—I'm your fiancée!" Zoe struggled, her voice shrill and piercing.
Jason ignored her completely. The room only quieted down once the bodyguards dragged her out.
He turned around and looked at Olivia on the bed. His eyes softened right away, with a hint of guilt that was hard to notice. "Sorry, I didn't mean for you to get hurt like this. I never thought she'd barge in."
Olivia didn't say anything, just stared at him coldly.
Jason looked at the injury on her face without any anger. Instead, he got a first-aid kit. "Let me put some medicine on it, or your face will swell up more and might even scar."
He didn't wait for her answer. He sat on the edge of the bed, put some ointment on his finger, and gently applied it to her swollen cheek.
Olivia wanted to pull away, but she had no strength left. Even a slight move pulled at the pain on her cheek, so she could only sit there stiffly.
"What the hell are you trying to do?" She glared at the man in front of her, grinding her teeth, her face full of anger.
But Jason just smiled gently. His fingertips kept moving, and the cool ointment spread across her skin, easing the pain bit by bit.
"I'm not trying to do anything. I just want to treat you right." His voice was low, with a hint of temptation. "See? Doesn't it feel better now?"
A chill ran through Olivia. Something felt off.
Jason's fingertips gently rubbed her face, so soft it didn't seem real. His voice grew even deeper: "Look at you, shaking all over. You must be scared. Close your eyes and get some good sleep. When you wake up, you'll forget all the bad stuff."
Olivia wanted to argue back, but for some reason, Jason's voice had a magical pull. Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier.
Her thoughts in her head started to blur. Luca's image faded away, replaced by a strong wave of sleepiness.
"You..." She tried to fight it, but her voice came out weak, like a mosquito buzzing.
A flash of triumph showed in Jason's eyes. He kept rubbing the ointment, his voice still soft as water: "Sleep now, sleep. When you wake up, you'll see I'm the one who's right for you. We'll live happily with Leo. You'll forget Luca, forget everything that hurt you. You'll only have me in your eyes and heart."
His words flooded into her ears like waves. Her mind sank deeper, and her will to resist faded away.
Finally, she couldn't hold out against the sleepiness. Her eyes closed, and she fell completely into darkness.
Jason looked at her sleeping profile. The gentleness on his face slowly faded.
He leaned down and whispered in her ear: "Olivia, this time, you can't escape anymore."
Then he stood up, gently pulled the blanket over her, treating her like a fragile treasure.
After that, he turned and left the room, closing the door softly behind him.
Olivia was the only one left in the room. She slept deeply, her brows tightly furrowed, like she was having a bad dream.
Cold sweat beaded on her forehead now and then, and she mumbled something from time to time, but her voice was too soft to make out.
Jason stood outside the door, watching everything through the monitor. A satisfied smile curved his lips.
When Olivia woke up again, she found herself on a soft, big bed.
The room was cozy, with sunlight streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, warm and bright.
She sat up, her mind a total blank.
Who was she? Where was this place?
She looked down at herself. She was wearing comfortable pajamas.
Just then, the door opened, and Jason came in with a bowl of porridge.
Seeing her awake, Jason's face lit up with a happy smile.
"Babe, you're up? How do you feel? Anywhere sore?"
Babe?
Olivia froze, her eyes full of confusion.
Who was this guy? Why was he calling her that?
"Who are you?" she asked on instinct, her tone wary.
Jason's smile froze for a second, but he quickly calmed down.
"Babe, what's wrong? Don't you recognize me? I'm Jason, your fiancé."
Fiancé?
Olivia was even more confused.
She had no memories of this man at all.
"I... I don't remember you," she said softly, feeling totally lost.
Jason set down the porridge and sat on the bed, taking her hand.
His hand was warm, but Olivia instinctively wanted to pull away.
"Babe, are you still mad at me? It's my fault—we fought last time, and I made you feel bad." His tone was gentle, his eyes showing guilt.
"We fought?" Olivia frowned. "Why?"
"Just over some little thing." Jason smiled, trying to brush it off. "I shouldn't have lost my temper. Don't take it to heart. You just woke up and you're still weak—have some porridge first." He scooped up a spoonful and held it to her mouth.
Olivia hesitated, then opened her mouth and swallowed it.
The porridge tasted familiar, like something she used to eat a lot.
But she just couldn't remember where.
"Am I really your fiancée?" She still wasn't sure.
"Of course." Jason nodded, a bit eager in his eyes. "We've been together for years, and things have always been great. We just had that fight last time, and you bumped your head, so you forgot."
Bumped her head?
Olivia touched her forehead without thinking. No wound.
"I... I feel like I forgot something important." Her voice was quiet, her heart empty.
"Don't overthink it." Jason ruffled her hair. "Once you're better, it'll all come back. Right now, the main thing is to take good care of yourself."
