Chapter 28 Who Did It?

"If I don't teach you a lesson today, you won't even know your status."

Mary's anger surged, her ten fingers seemed to be ready to tear Jennifer apart at any moment.

Jennifer's eyes were indifferent, showing no interest in her anger, with a hint of cold sarcasm on her lips, "Didn't I make it clear on the phone just now? Well, I'll repeat it solemnly in front of all of you."

…

She pronounced each word slowly and in an indifferent tone. There was a deep-seated determination carved into it, "I severed all ties with the Sibbett family five years ago. Now, you have no right to discipline me."

...

Perhaps, she was destined to have no connection with them since birth.

Jennifer's eyes sneered ruthlessly, but beneath the strong resentment, there was still an infinite sense of desolation.

The longing and aspirations from the past were deeply buried in her heart like a thorn, piercing her from time to time.

Jennifer stubbornly raised her head, the resentment in her eyes quickly replacing the sadness. "Five minutes left, what do you want from me in the end?"

"If there's nothing wrong, can't I see you?"

Jason slammed the newspaper in his hand, his hypocritical face showing a self-righteous attitude.

The look he cast at Jennifer changed from the original sarcasm to disappointment and anger.

Jennifer smirked, "There's no need for that. The meeting will only deepen our mutual resentment. I think it's best for us to never see each other again."

…

Jennifer could already imagine the anger and frustration in their eyes after saying this.

Without taking another look, she turned around to leave.

"Who said you could leave? Stop right there."

Mary felt her authority being challenged and raised her voice sharply and aggressively, "As long as I'm here, you will always have to listen to me."

Her chin lifted as if reaching for the sky, her eyes filled with defiance, "Now, you will immediately resign from your position as the home tutor of the Whitfield family. You are not allowed to set foot in the Whitfield family again."

"Yes," Jason spoke with authority and power, "Mary has already arranged a flight for you, and I will provide you with enough money to sustain you for the rest of your life. You don't need to pack your things, just have the driver take you away now."

…

Jennifer sneered.

So it was about this.

Despite knowing their intentions, she couldn't help but ask, "Why do I have to leave?"

"Jessica has already given birth to a child for the Whitfield family and will soon become Mrs. Whitfield. You, a lowly village girl, why would you want to ruin her good fortune?"

…

Mary looked at Jennifer with unfriendly eyes.

Mary stared at Jennifer as if she had ruined the most precious treasure of the Sibbett family, wishing she could execute her immediately.

Jennifer was extremely angry and laughed sarcastically, "You guys are still as arrogant and self-centered as ever, blindly believing Jessica's words without asking for my side of the story? Just like five years ago!"

…

The iciness in Jennifer's eyes was palpable, and she asked with a hint of pain, "Who is your real daughter?"

This was a question she had never dared to ask before, but now she finally could.

The disappointment and bitterness in Jennifer's eyes were so strong that they made Mary tremble.

Before Mary could angrily retort, Jennifer coldly said, "The Whitfield family decided to hire me, specifically made by Michael. If you dare, go ask him to fire me. As for my personal life…"

…

Jennifer deliberately paused, her eyes coldly sweeping over each of them, issuing a warning, "It's none of your business."

The sudden sharpness and coldness in Jennifer's demeanor shocked them, causing a momentary silence.

And then, Mary erupted in fury, fueled by Jennifer's words like gasoline on a fire.

"You are completely rebellious. I'll teach you a lesson!"

She was Mrs. Sibbett, so who dared not to respect her? Jennifer was looking for trouble.

With rage, both hands fiercely raised, she charged towards Jennifer, intending to slap her for her provocative words.

But as her hand reached out, it was firmly caught by Jennifer, who then used the momentum to throw Mary off balance.

"You little brat, how dare you push me?"

Mary cried out and fell onto the sofa.

Jessica, who was watching on the side, quickly went forward to help her up, with a concerned face, "Mom, are you okay? Did you hurt?"

She then turned to Jennifer with a concerned expression, "Jennifer, no matter what, you shouldn't lay hands on Mom, especially when you are already in the wrong."

"In the wrong?" Jennifer angrily retorted with a dreadful tone, "In front of me, you, an adopted daughter, have no right to preach."

"You're truly uncultured. You have completely turned against us."

When Jason glared, he ignored the pretense of his hypocrisy and mercilessly pulled out his belt, ready to strike Jennifer. He said, "I'll beat you until you admit you're wrong. I don't care whether you like it or not, you're leaving."

...

"Smack..."

The belt spun through the air and landed squarely on Jennifer's back, the sharp sound of impact echoing in the air.

Jennifer's white shirt was immediately stained with blood.

It was painful and numbing.

Jennifer couldn't help but take a sharp breath, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead.

Raising her head again, her eyes filled with hatred. She said, "You better kill me today, or else, I will make you regret it."

Her tone was so resolute, not at all like an empty threat.

Jason was stunned, and in the next moment, his eyes were with anger.

He had been accustomed to the respectful attitude of Jessica and Mary, so he couldn't bear Jennifer's provocation.

Trembling with anger, he pointed at Jennifer, "Fine, I will satisfy your request today."

Just then, a tall figure approached the Sibbett family gate against the light.

Jessica was the first to spot this familiar figure, and she immediately rushed to block Jason, who was about to strike, saying, "Dad, please don't get angry. Jennifer must have her reasons."

Turning to Jennifer, with a humble expression, she said, "Jennifer, it's all my fault. Please don't anger Mom and Dad anymore. Whatever you want, I will give it to you. If you continue like this, it might cost them their lives."

…

…

Jennifer's expression froze when she looked at Jessica.

Suddenly hearing footsteps behind her, she turned around to see Michael walking towards her.

His steps were firm as if he was a god walking on a beam of light.

No wonder Jessica suddenly pretended to dissuade but blamed all the mistakes on her.

It turned out that Michael was coming.

Jennifer showed a bitter smile, still surprised asked, "Why did you get in?"

At this moment, she dared not be sure whether Michael knowing her identity would still let her be the home tutor of the Whitfield family.

Somehow, there was a sudden pain in her chest, as if it was even more painful than the belt whipping just now.

At this moment, Michael's expression was particularly cold, exuding a chilly air that penetrated through the bones.

It was like a basin of cold water falling from the sky, abruptly extinguishing all their anger.

Instead, what replaced it was fear.

Jason and Mary were astonished, "Mr. Whitfield?"

Michael, ignoring the two, his exceptionally cold eyes constantly landed on the blood mark on Jennifer's back, and he asked in a cold voice, "Who did it?"
