Chapter 140: Weakness is A Sin

Sylvia's pov .

Instantly, my gaze shifted towards where Prudence stood with her arms crossed and an irritated look on her face as she stared at Myles condescendingly. Too stunned to speak, I shook myself out of my frozen state. “I’m sorry, what?”

Prudence didn’t hesitate to repeat her words more slowly, even going further to express herself as she liked, “You are a pathetic excuse of a werewolf and don't belong in this pack really.”

“There is no room for weakness in the Dramount pack.” Her gaze shifted towards me, and I got the message loud and clear.

I ground my teeth hard, holding myself from bursting, “You can’t say things like that as the beta's daughter; you'd know that if you were actually meant to be.” I guess I couldn’t really hold myself.

Prudence took offence as I thought she would; her face twisted with rage, eyes that threatened murder, shot daggers at me.

This was not the time nor the place for any of this, and I ignored her entirely. “Myles, I'll be back to ask you a few more questions if the need arises, but for now get some rest. I'll also check on your mother as well. I'm sure she's fine,” I assured him, patting his shoulders one last time.

Myles' gaze shifted uncomfortably between Prudence and I, obviously aware of the tension between us as I turned to leave.

That would be a hassle, considering an angry-looking Prudence was blocking my path.

I couldn't stop my lips from quivering in anger and irritation, “Move!” I whispered quietly.

A craze looking smirk worked its way up to her cheeks followed by a chuckle which escaped her throat, and a full blown out laugh.

So much for trying to keep it under the rug, taking a deep breath, I was ready for her, I just didn't know how well to restrain myself or my shift.

It was all based on my emotions.

In between laughs, she mocked, “I? Should move?” A perfectly manicured finger gesturing to her chest. A moment passed and she finally calmed down, wiping away at the fake tears that didn't linger at the corner of her eyes.

Prudence reached out to grab my hair but I was fast enough to evade her touch, this came as a surprise to her, her eyes widened as she scoffed, “The audacity,” she chuckled once again, reaching out to touch me and I grabbed her by the wrist, twisting her hands backward before pushing her.

This took not just her by surprise but Myles and I as well.

Prudence gaze held emotions ranging from shock, to curiosity, anger, spite and embarrassment. Her gaze flustered between me and Myles.

Not long after, she shot me one last murderous glare before walking off.

I sighed in relief, but I knew she would be back, after the humiliation she had just faced, I needed to get ready for her.

Offering Myles one last encouraging smile before I exited the clinic.

Outside, I gazed at the blue sky with fluffy white clouds, perfect weather for a not too perfect day. My mind reeled over Myles words, at first, I was in doubt, but the similarities were uncanny.

But how?

This rabid feature mirrored the wolf Ezekiel and I had seen a few distance before the Briseville college school grounds. No matter how we used our instincts to call out to them, they wouldn't listen, then taking off into the wilderness.

What could possibly be riling up such behaviour from them?

The more I cracked my brain, the less I could come up with and realise I needed help. The only other person that witnessed this behaviour was the one person I was avoiding.

And I'm not ready to speak with him yet, it's not yet time.

I decided to take a short stroll around the pack when my ears caught a conversation I didn't think I should be hearing, “And you ran?” The voice reverberated with great disappointment and anger.

I slowed my steps, almost tiptoeing, as I continued to eavesdrop on the conversation. The voices were familiar in an instant as they belonged to the two people I had come to despise.

Sanders and his daughter, Prudence.

“I don't know Dad, there's something about her that's changed, ever since we got back,” Prudence whined with uncertainty, “She's not the same.”

I could practically hear the disgust in Sanders' voice, “A weak omega who hasn't even shifted bested you, and your solution is to shed your tears and whine about her being different,” a scoff escaped his lips afterward, “Disappointing.”

Under his breath he muttered but loud enough for Prudence to catch, “Weakness is a sin, and no daughter of mine would become a sinner.”

Footsteps started to evolve and I reigned back, changing my direction, hardly stepping into the pack house before he turned the corner and entered behind me.

I pretended to walk out at the same time and we bumped into each other, “Oh, my apologies Beta Sanders.”

His gaze was haunting as they peered down at me from above, as though judging me for what I was, who I was and what I had become of myself.

Seconds passed without a word before he walked away.

I breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that I wasn't caught eavesdropping. I wasn't about to go look for trouble.

Something about Sanders' last words didn't sit right with me, I never knew he was such a devoted server of the moon goddess.

“To be weak is to sin!”

I repeated the words slowly, brows furrowed in confusion. I wasn't much of a strong believer in the moon goddess especially after everything that had happened in my life.

But I still believed she existed.

But going as far as citing her scriptures as a basis for your entire existence, it just didn't sit right with me.

Especially when it's used in the wrong context.

He seems to be passing it down the line as well.
