Chapter Forty-Nine

I got to the cliff just in time to see Iris chanting.

“No, Iris stop.” I yelled, Iris paused, froze a millisecond, and then continued.

“What are you doing here boy?” Nambra stepped in front of me to prevent me from moving forward.

“Trying to prevent my mate from opening a portal to hell. Iris if you can hear me, fight him.”

Nambra chuckled. “You silly boy, Iris is long gone.” My heart stuttered.

“You are lying, she would never choose to give up.” And at that moment, Iris groaned. That gave me hope to try and reach her again.

“She is fighting me…” The demon gritted through Iris mouth.

“Chant and get your pack here, they will help ground you.” Nambra ordered and I shook my head.

“No way.” I replied as I sent the queen flying. I knew that I could not best her, but I hoped to keep her distracted long enough for help to come.

“That was a big mistake.” She yelled. “I would have allowed you live as my daughter mate since I already took her from you but since you decided to act stupid then you get to be the first meal for the pack.”

She rushed at me, and I barely got my shield in place before whatever it was she sent towards me slammed into my shield, it ripped my shield apart and came for me.

I tumbled through the air before crashing painfully on the ground, my body quaked but I knew I could not remain lying on the ground, I had to stand up and fight.

“Iris please, don’t let them destroy the wonders which I will show you, Just fight, keep him distracted long enough.”

Iris groaned as she gave a scream. “Stop talking.”

Nambra came at me once more, but I turned invisible, it would buy me five seconds highest. I snuck an attack at her, and she collapsed.

She snarled as she got on her knees, wiping the blood from her nose. “Come at me head first if you are a man.”

“Iris please.” I said and she blasted me once more, this time I felt the bones in my right leg shatter. Agony blasted through me; I could barely breathe through it all. I opened my mouth but all that came out was a silent scream.

“That is enough.” Finn yelled as he attacked the queen. I watched through my side eye as Iris continue chanting even with the blood pouring out of her nose and then a light appeared midway. No, the demon had succeeded.

I started crawling towards Iris, maybe I could make her come back, long enough to close the slowly opening portal.

“What do you think you are doing?” Nambra yelled at Finn, and I could hear Finn cries of pain as he kept fighting his queen.

“Iris, please fight. Come back to me.” I said slowly. Iris blinked at me, her brown eyes showing just before the black swirls reappeared in her eyes.

The demon smiled at me using the face of my mate as he lifted his leg to kick me, but the leg froze in place.

“That is it, Iris. Fight.”

“You are ruining everything!” Nambra yelled behind me as she threw me into the air towards the portal as it fully formed.

“NO!” Iris yelled as her eyes turned back to their real color.

That was the last sight I saw before everything went black.

Iris:

Cirdan disappearing midair was enough for me to get the control I had been fighting Gader’el for. I shoved the demon into a cage which I had formed in my mind and then I stood up and turned to my mother who had a stricken look on her face.

“Iris honey…” She started, slowly backing away from me.

“What did you do?” I screamed at her as my voice created echoes that sent her stumbling away from me with blood pouring from her nose. The noise of people running towards us and shouting increased as I saw her eyes shifted back and forth.

“Iris, you need to close the portal.” Finn staggered towards us, holding his side which was bleeding profusely.

“I won’t Cirdan is inside there.” I returned as I paced in the circle which I was in the middle of, I tried leaving but I could not leave.

“If you don’t, more of what is inside you will pass through and then Cirdan will have nowhere to return to. You have to close the portal.”

“No.” I shook my head, tears me my vision blurry but I was still able to see my mother trying to attack Finn. Without thinking, I sent a blast her way that she narrowly missed because she jumped back in time.

A loud roar sounded from the portal.

“Please Iris, Cirdan would not like it if you are being selfish.” Finn said softly and his soft tone was what broke me.

“Wh-wh-what will I do?” I asked Finn, I was shaking so badly I knew that my body was going into shock, my mind was not far behind.

“Blow out the candles, only then I can touch the circle and ruin it. Hurry.” Finn stated.

I shakily went on my knees and blew out the nearest candle. The roar increased as other sounds joined it, but I kept putting off the candle, as I blew out the last one, and Finn quickly cleaned part of the circle. The portal disappeared immediately and that was when I broke down in tears. Crying loudly for Cirdan.
