Chapter Fifty
Iris:
“I am sorry for your loss.” The shifter king said, I didn’t even bother with knowing his name, the council had introduced their selves to me, thanking me for saving them from my power corrupt mother and they were more willing to be allies now but I did not want anything to do with them. Not after they prevented me and Cirdan from being together and were the cause of this.
It could all be traced back to them and they knew it, they felt guilty and are trying to appeal to their conscience.
“That loss you are referring to better be the loss of a mother who was not a mother or else.” I threatened the shifted king, my eyes shifted to red.
The past few days, everybody learnt not to fear when my eyes shifted, brown were I was normal, red was when my powers were coming active which was often these days, and black or swirling black was the entity which my mother placed inside me. That has not been seen since the cliff.
The king tilted his head in acknowledging my words, that was not what he meant. He knew that I knew that but still he kept quiet and allowed me to live in denial.
That is the only way I could live right now.
After he took his leave, I continued to stare out of the window towards the direction of the cliff.
“Iris.” My father’s voice made me frown.
He has been trying to get me away from the window and doing things, moving but he doesn’t understand that I didn’t want to move, I wanted to be left alone.
“What did they say about helping me and my mate?” I asked.
“Nothing is being said about you yet. The artisans are trying to craft something that will always keep you in control of your body, just for the period of time it takes us to find Nambra and see if we can reverse what she did to you.”
“And Cirdan?” I asked, my breathe hitched as I mentioned his name as the ache that was dulled opened again like I had just torn an open wound.
“Iris…”
“If what you want to say is not going to help Cirdan then I don’t want to hear it.”
“You have to accept that he is gone. Finn mentioned that he was severely wounded, and the pack was already assembling at the other side.”
“Finn.” I spat the name. “You mean the same person that lowered my defenses and made the demon to grab a hold of me in the first place.”
“Yes, that Finn, sadly, he is the only option we have of knowing your mother’s plans and tearing the little holds she already had in place.” My father returned.
“So, nobody will help me with getting my mate out of hell?” I asked, for the last time because I was bloody tired of it all. Cirdan saved Faery and nobody is willing to save him.
Well, screw them.
“Iris…”
“Answer, Father,” I screamed. Vine and Vale shifted; they have been keeping close to my side since I collapsed that night. A lot did go wrong that night, Finn kind of redeemed himself partly by helping me shut down the portal but everybody has been keeping him away from me because they knew that the moment I see him, he is dead. My mother escaped when we were trying to close the portal and everybody knows that this is not the last we have heard from her and then Cirdan, My mate was sent into hell for his effort of trying to save me and Faery and how is he been appreciated. He is being left for the dead there.
Nobody wanted to listen to me when I keep mentioning that I feel the bond between us, that he is still alive.
I have given them four days to get their head out of their asses and they still kept it there. Now I just want the confirmation that I was doing this on my own.
“I am sorry Iris, we are holding a memorial for him tomorrow evening, a guard will come to take you there.” My father said as he turned and left the room.
I broke again, crying at the injustice in this.
“If you need us for anything, anything at all. We will be there.” Vine said. I raised my head to see the determination in his eyes and I knew what he was trying to say without words.
“Yep chica, you are stuck with us until Cirdan say otherwise.” Vane added and for the first time since I got control back, a cracked a small smile.

King Elros:
“What are they?” I gritted my teeth; the memorial was paused as we waited for my daughter to come and say her last goodbye. This was already hard enough for everybody since we were sending off an empty shroud, there was no need to make this longer than it should be.
The door opened as my guards rushed towards me.
“What is going on?’ the shifter king asked me from his place close to me, but I shrugged.
“Your majesty. She has left.” The guard whispered to me, not that it would still not reach the shifter king ears, he was very sensitive to sound.
“What?”
“People have sighted her close to the cliff.”
Fear gripped me. No, Iris would not do what we were thinking she would do.
“Her eyes.” I roared at him. “What color was her eyes?”
“Their usual brown.” He replied.
I fell back into my seat; I did not even know when I stood up. Yes my daughter did exactly as I feared she would.
She went after her mate.
