Chapter 52 52

Chapter 52 52
Sheila gasped out in shock, eyes wide in awe as those words filtered out of Arthur's lips, rawly. Before she could even move, she felt his finger, sliding into something, her hair!!
Her damn hair!!!
Arthur smirked, then leaned in, “What were you thinking?” he scowled, his fingers moving softly in her hair.
“That I was going to finger your pussy?” he whispered and Sheila choked on nothing, heavy beads of sweat suddenly overpowering her.
How could one be so damn raw? Spewing words without a blink or even a stutter?
Sheila was still lost in thought when Arthur's finger moved again in her hair, sending a tingling sensation across her system. She jerked, clenching her teeth as Arthur fingered her hair—softly, carefully, his fingers moving soothingly in her hair.
Sheila stifled in a moan, the feel of his finger suddenly nice and soothing, she closed her eyes, letting him do his thing as he kept fingering her hair, eyes tainted with malice.
Sheila's eyes opened when she felt his finger slipping out of her hair, she turned to him to see him smirking.
“Didn't know you love to be fingered,” his voice taunting and Sheila almost scoffed.
“Your hair feels good to be fingered.” he added with a silly grin, finally leaving her to stand up from his thighs. Sheila didn't say a word, she only cussed herself for the attempted moan, but it was a good thing she didn't.
That jerk would have teased and taunted her with it. Arthur grabbed her arm, linking it with his as they began walking towards the hall. The slow music playing in the background impregnated the air, low laughter and giggles renting the air.
The air was thick with rich fragrance, different expensive scents colliding in the air, intoxicating the atmosphere.
Fleur was already waiting for them and as soon as he saw them approaching, he smiled. “Thought you wouldn't come,” he grimaced, earning a scoff from Arthur.
Fleur turned to Sheila and smiled, but she didn't reciprocate. She only gave him a twisted face, then snapped her gaze away from his with a scoff.
“What's the theme of today's function? Everything seems boring.” Arthur asked, grabbing a cup of cocktail from a passing waiter. He stretched it to Sheila who hesitated at first, remembering how the wine once messed up her systems.
She finally sighed, then took the glance from Arthur who smiled, a hand in his pocket.
“Not something special, just live music and entertainment,” Fleur shrugged, leading them inside. The reek of wine and moving body in rhythm to the music made Sheila's head banged.
It was exactly like this —the day Mira threw a party for her for divorcing Jacob.
The wine.
The music.
The bodies, dancing and giggling.
The laughter.
It was just the same. Her grip on the cup tightened as she stared around, Arthur's hands still resting on her waist.
“Did you figure out if my cousin is coming here today?” Arthur leaned in and asked Fleur who almost gasped out.
“According to what investigation I made, he's currently out of the city. But I learned Madelyn would be coming in his stead,” he replied softly.
The mention of Madelyn's name made Arthur's blood boil, he held Sheila more tightly, his chest heaving.
They took the stairs, heading to settle down on the first floor. There they could see whatever shît was happening in the hall. The hall wasn't that crowded since it was only for a few men of caliber.
They were to come with their wives if they wanted to, unless not married.
Arthur and Sheila finally settled down, and Sheila heaved, staring down at the people greeting, their cheeks stretching so much.
Sheila turned to her side and her eyes widened when she saw a pair of brown eyes staring at her, a smirk on his face.
Sheila could swear it was the man from the store earlier today, but she still needed to be sure it was him. She owes him an apology for how Arthur had treated him.
The man finally stood, then began walking out. Sheila quickly turned to Arthur, handing him the drink.
“I'm pressed, I need to use the restroom.” She muttered, standing to her feet. Arthur stood too and Sheila's eyes widened, her gaze snapping back to the man who was descending the stairs already.
“I'll lead the way then, I can't have my woman walking all by herself.” Arthur smiled and Sheila gritted her teeth.
But then she forced a smile, going closer to him.
“I understand you're genuinely worried, but wifey, won't get lost,” She snarled, her voice calm but laced with mockery.
“I won't take time, I promise.” She smiled at him and before Arthur could say a word, she rushed out, climbing down the stairs.
Arthur sat back on his seat and Fleur coughed beside him, bridging his nose.
Arthur only glanced at him without a word, then returned his gaze to the crowd.
_________
“Hold on,” Sheila yelled, rushing over to the man who was about to climb inside his car.
He stopped, then turned his head back to see Sheila approaching him. His lips curled as he closed his car door, relaxing his back on it.
Sheila finally got closer then bowed with a small smile.
“Oh, it's the lady whose husband is a possessive wacko,” he snickered, his face dripping with mockery.
Sheila sighed. She was going to apologize to him and return back inside, his view of Arthur wasn't her business and would never be. He was treated like that because of her and it was only right she apologized, nothing more.
“I'm sorry for how my husband treated you,” She breathed heavily, the word 'Husband' slipping out of her tongue with so much heaviness, her fingers digging into her palms.
The man huffed, his eyes flashing with disdain, “You call that dude your husband? That crazy—”
“I won't have you insult him, mister.” She cut the man off with an angry snarl, her eyes even widening at what she just did.
Heck!! Did she just defend Arthur? She shook her head, probably the words must have slipped out.
Damn her loose tongue.
The man chuckled, then left the car to take a closer look at Sheila. He scoffed, then leaned closer to her.
“I bet you're not comfortable in that marriage,” he snickered, his voice taunting.
“Your eyes say a whole lot,” he added with a mischievous grin and Sheila's face turned pale, she almost staggered back but she held back herself, the man's words a constant echo in her ears.
She made it obvious. She made it so obvious that she wasn't comfortable, happy in the marriage and a stranger she just met said those words to her. How could she?
Seeing her expression, the man smiled, then brought out his business card once more, passing it to her.
“If you feel so suffocated, why stay in the damn marriage?” He huffed, his voice laced with disappointment as he pushed the card into Sheila's palms.
“I know you want to break free from the bondage, I'm willing to help. Just a call and I'll come running to you, pretty angel.” he said with a smile, his gaze flirtatious and his voice draped with lust.
Meanwhile, Arthur watched everything through the transparent window of the first floor, fist clenched and teeth hardened. He couldn't hear whatever they were discussing but one thing was clear —the man was trying to invade his space.
And Sheila? She has to answer him after the function. She lied to use the restroom, only to go about chatting with a random dude?
He smirked, his gaze venomous.
Sheila's palms curled, the card squeezing within her palms as she glared hard at the man, gaze blazing with fury.
“You lie you motherfúcker!!” She snarled, “I love my husband and can I tell you something?” her voice clipped, voice laced with sarcasm.
”You can't be him. Not in this life, not in your next life and not forever. You're as miserable as your wrinkled face, little pantie dropper,” She spat and the man's eyes widened, his fist balled.
“You know what? I wish he broke your damn bones and I'm not sorry for what he did, go burn in hell, loser!!” Sheila spat once more at his face and he only smirked, his dark mind plotting something horrible already.
Without another word, the man opened his car door and climbed inside, driving out of the area.
As Sheila watched the man drive out, she exhaled, finally glancing at the business card in her hand which was already rumbled, heavy breaths escaping her nostrils.
She did it again, her silly tongue slipped and defended Arthur, for the second time already. She must be losing her mind.
She turned and made an attempt to walk inside when someone bumped into her, roughly. Almost sending her crashing to the floor, but the person only scoffed, about to resume walking when Sheila pulled her back.
“You bumped into me,” Sheila snapped. “And I deserve an apology from you,” She added softly and Madelyn laughed mockingly, yanking Sheila's hand away from hers.
“An apology?” She snorted. “You were blocking the way and I pushed past you, how do you expect me to apologize?” She snickered rudely and Sheila smirked.
Before Madelyn could detect Sheila's next move, Sheila stepped back slowly then moved forward with a full speed.
“Out of my way bitch,” Sheila muttered savagely, bumping her shoulder hard against Madelyn's
Madelyn staggered back, the impact made her heels slip, throwing her off balance then a gasp slipped out of her throat.
“Shit!! Are you okay?” Madelyn shouted, her face turned pale as she glanced at herself, her eyes burning with rage.
Arthur chuckled from his spot, crossing his arms while Sheila made squeezing faces at Madelyn.
“You were blocking the way and I pushed you out, no apologies.” Sheila winked at her, walking inside the hotel.
Madelyn's face scrunched up into anger as she stood, flipping her hair back. She glanced up and that was when she saw him.
Arthur stared at her through the transparent window, but what he did next made her heart clench and her anger boil.
He smirked at her, giving her his middle finger before he finally mouthed.
“Screw you,”
