Chapter 53 53
Chapter 53 53
Sheila walked straight to the restroom, shaking her head vehemently as she recalled the events that had taken place today.
Today must have been destined to be a mess for her.
First was Arthur's note, then Davit and Levan's drama, Arthur's text, the encounter with the lunatic of a man, the silly lady she just returned back a bump to.
Gosh!!! Today was definitely the worst. She needed to rest her head and take a deep sleep but she was stuck here with Arthur, no rest and definitely no plans of returning home anytime soon.
She sighed and pushed the restroom door open, bolting straight to the tap, she switched on the tap and the water began running, she scooped a large quantity of water into her palms and began splashing it on her face, her head banging with headache.
After she was done, she exhaled, staring at her reflection in the mirror, the man's words soundly echoing again in her ears.
'If you feel so suffocated, why stay in the damn marriage?'
Sheila smiled faintly, gripping her arms. “Because I need him,“ She chuckled to herself, still staring at her reflection, her eyes a mixture of pain, hatred and disdain.
'I know you want to break free from this bondage, just a call and I'll come running to you,' the man's voice came again and Sheila huffed this time, glancing at the card beside the tap where she kept it.
Arthur was a jerk, but this man was a pervert. Someone old enough to be her father isn't the type of man she wants for herself or who she'll go running to.
Those where your typical type of 'Nothing is free in this world. You have to make a sacrifice to achieve something,' that kind of sacrifice that will get you reeling over guilt and hiding your face in shame.
That sacrifice that comes with something more expensive, and seriously, she wasn't ready and prepared to get caught up with a pervert who's clearly lusting over something obvious.
She stretched her hand forward, grabbing the card before throwing it inside the sink, her pale eyes fixed on it as the running water beat hard on the card, slowly melting it away.
She rubbed her knuckles softly as she watched the water ruin the card, she heaved before turning off the tap.
She pulled out a napkin and dried her palms with it, discarding it properly before leaving the restroom.
She jerked up in shock when she saw Arthur leaning against the restroom wall, hands in his pocket.
“You took a lot of time, what happened?” he questioned casually, standing straight.
Sheila bit her lips hard, “I had constipation and that kept me longer than I intended to,” She lied again and Arthur nodded surprisingly, not bothering to even argue with her.
This was the second time she lied to him tonight all because of that old looking man, interesting.
“And how are you feeling now? Good?” he demanded and Sheila nodded with a forced smile, which Arthur reciprocated surprisingly, but within that smile lies something darker.
He brought his palm forward and Sheila placed hers on it, together they walked out and met Fleur waiting already.
The audience has reduced and the MC is currently trying to round things out. Sheila thought they were going to head back to the first floor but she was awed when they walked out, heading towards the car.
“Are we going already?” Sheila asked and Arthur turned to her with a smile, opening the car door himself for her.
“Mhmmm,” he said and Sheila sighed, Arthur joined her while Fleur sat beside Ted in the front seat.
Then the car revised, driving out. Madelyn rushed out, breathing heavily.
Damn!! She's been searching for Arthur since the incident and couldn't even find him.
She had even climbed the first floor where she saw him earlier but he wasn't in sight. Seems like he disappeared without a trace and when she finally found him, it was his car leaving the hotel?
She pulled out her phone and tried to call him but then she remembered that he blocked her. With a sigh, she went back into the hotel to take her purse.
She was definitely going to visit his house tonight.
Meanwhile, as the car glided on the road, Sheila turned to Arthur.
“But why? We could have—”
“Sshh” he hushed her up, placing his index finger on her lips.
“You're sick, I can't risk your health.” he said to her, rubbing her brows with a smile.
“Huh?” Sheila's brow furrowed and Arthur chuckled, pulling her closer so she could rest her head on his shoulder.
“You had constipation, little one. We need to leave and get some meds for you,” he whispered, tucking a strand of hair behind her ears and Sheila heaved, fingers digging into her palms.
“Stop at a nearby pharmacy store, Ted.” Arthur instructed and Sheila's eyes narrowed, her bottom lip slipping into her mouth.
Arthur acting this way felt strangely weird, and it was even weirder that he was doing this all with a smile. Why was he treating her like this? And why doesn't it feel right?
She should be happy, at least since he wasn't acting like a jerk ass but why was she feeling chill instead, what were her instincts telling her?
This is bad, terribly bad.
She recoiled back on the seat, a cold shiver running down her spine as she closed her eyes, leaving the question hanging.
The car stopped in front of a pharmacy store and Fleur left to buy the medicine, Arthur glanced over at Sheila's sleeping face then scoffed, his expression shifting.
“Little lier,” he whispered, eyes flickering with rage.
Fleur returned back almost immediately and the small bag containing the medicine was given to Arthur.
The rest of the drive to the mansion was eerily quiet, Arthur's gaze still fixed on Sheila's face as her chest rose and fell rhythmically with her breathing, her lips slightly parted.
Arthur's expression still remained neutral till they drove into the mansion, the car halting in the parking lot.
Arthur came down then scooped sleeping Sheila into his arms, he bolted inside the mansion, then began climbing the stairs with her still trapped in his arms.
Gently, he laid her on the bed then knelt with a knee as he loosened her heels, slipping them effortlessly from her feet.
He pulled the quilt over her then closed the room window, he switched off the lights in the room then switched on the bed lamp. He advanced to switching on the warmer in the room since it was annoyingly cold.
Then he leaned in, “Consider this my last kind gesture, little lier.” he said flatly.
He dropped the medicine beside her, on the bed stand then walked straight to take his shower.
He didn't take much time in the bathroom, he returned, his body sleek with water.
He dried his wet body then slipped into something cozy before glancing over at her one last time, his eyes flickered with something deep and he smirked, leaving the room.
He walked straight to the kitchen and he was surprised to see Fleur in the kitchen, swirling an apple in his hand.
“Boss—”
“No discussion now, till tomorrow morning.” Arthur cut him off, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge before sauntering out of the kitchen.
Fleur sighed and took a deep bite from the apple, then shrugged.
Meanwhile, Arthur just walked straight to the guest room, struggling to make himself comfortable in the room.
But no matter how hard he tried to, he couldn't sleep. So he sat up from the bed, glancing over at the wall clock as the time clicked slowly, the only sound in the room.
He slumped back on the bed but the sleep refused to come.
Seriously? Was he having insomnia now? He huffed angrily then sat up once more.
His brows knitted when a knock sounded on his door, “Boss—” Fleur began but Arthur cut him off.
“I told you all the discussion will happen tomorrow morning,” Arthur snapped.
“I'm sorry but you have a visitor,” he said from the door and the first thing Arthur glanced at was the clock.
10pm. Who the hell visits one by that time? Someone who has a problem staying in their house?
“Whoever the person is, tell the person I'm not available.” he ordered angrily.
“I already did, but she's adamant.”
'She'
So the visitor was a she? Arthur exhaled then climbed down from the bed, he walked out of the room, his eyes blazing.
“Can you show me the lunatic that decided to visit me at this odd hour?” Arthur demanded, voice cold and detached.
“It's your ex, Madelyn.” Fleur bowed and Arthur scoffed, storming towards the door.
He beeped the door and it opened, revealing Madelyn who was standing at the door.
Dressed in a short red gown that stopped just on her ass level, her heavy breast pushed open, exposed before Arthur and her lips curled.
She went home straight and changed into this.
She bit her bottom lip then opened her purse, pulling out an invitation card.
“I thought to invite you personally to my wedding, you know, it's in four days time.” She said, moving her body sexily in order to get Arthur's attention.
Arthur smirked, “I don't accept invitations twice, you already did—with your husband,” he said, his voice dripping with malice.
Madelyn sighed, then threw the card away.
“Fine, I missed you.” She grunted. “Just let me in, let's spend the night together, I'm prepared for you.” she bit her bottom lip with a wink, pushing her breast up and Arthur's face twisted, anger coursing through his veins.
“And you think I'll let you in?” he scoffed, eyes flashing with rage.
“You must have taken the wrong medication today because your mouth seems to act before your brain,” he snarled further, then cast a long, angry glare at her.
“I hate that you're disturbing my woman when she just slept off,”
Madelyn staggered, Arthur's words a blade slicing through her heart.
“Turn around and leave Madelyn, because if she wakes up because of you...” he paused then went closer.
“You won't like my other side,” he threatened.
