Chapter 183 Candles, Piano, and You

Chapter 183 Candles, Piano, and You
Tomi pushed me to the glass door that separated us. I protested from inside.

“You guys are cheating! Why was I left alone!"

From here, I saw Sasha and Gita waving at me. Dara raised both her hands in the air while shouting overly enthusiastic words of encouragement.

“Fight on, Frel! Make tonight unforgettable!” Dara shouted from outside.

Meanwhile, Tomi grinned and winked at me teasingly.

Tomi was really annoying.

A restaurant waiter greeted me and guided my steps toward the inner area. The farther I walked, the more confusion washed over me. Instead of stopping at one of the dining rooms, the waiter kept leading me toward the back of the restaurant.

The strangeness peaked when I found this area completely dark, without the slightest bit of light.

I turned to the waiter, throwing him a questioning look. “Excuse me, did we take the wrong way? Why is it so dark here?” I asked doubtfully.

Instead of giving a verbal answer, he asked me to close my eyes for a moment.

“Please cooperate for just a moment,” he said softly while smiling mysteriously.

Even though my head was filled with questions, I still followed his request.

I closed my eyes while counting the time in my heart. Exactly at the sixtieth second, I heard the signal to open them.

I looked back at the waiter. “Is there any other instruction?” I asked.

“There is only one instruction, please enjoy your evening,” he replied. He smiled politely, then gestured for me to move forward while pointing ahead.

Instantly, my eyes widened and my breath seemed to stop. What lay behind this restaurant truly left me in awe.

“Oh my God, this is so beautiful,” I murmured unconsciously.

Right in front of me, a swimming pool looked lovely with rows of candles decorating its edges. In the middle, there was a small bridge with twinkling lights wrapped around both sides of its railings. By the side of the pool stood a statue holding a small jug. Water flowed from the tilted jug, creating a soothing melody of splashes.

I lifted my gaze upward, realizing that the restaurant building was circular, surrounding an open area.

Suddenly, the sound of a piano began to be heard. The gentle notes emerged, filling my sense of hearing.

My gaze immediately shifted to a large gazebo across the pool. There, between four supporting pillars, Kenn was sitting calmly, playing the piano.

Without realizing it, my feet moved toward the bridge, stepping slowly closer to him. I stopped in the middle of the gazebo, listening as the melody made my heart feel peaceful. Gradually, the series of notes coming from the piano keys softened, then sank along with the final echo that reached my ears.

Kenn stood up and walked toward me with a blooming smile.

“You came right on time,” he greeted softly.

I smiled at him.

Seeing Kenn’s appearance in a navy blue suit, a matching tie, and a white shirt that fit perfectly to his body, I was stunned.

Honestly, I was reluctant to admit it, but tonight Kenn looked incredibly charming. He was extraordinarily handsome.

When we were only two steps apart, I greeted him softly. “Hi, Kenn.”

“Hi,” he said as he closed the distance between us. “You look very beautiful tonight.”

Instantly, my cheeks felt hot. What was happening? Why, at the very beginning of our meeting, had Kenn already managed to make me feel so flustered like this?

“Don’t start, Kenn. You’re making me nervous,” I whispered softly. “But, thank you,” I added haltingly while blushing.

I was shocked to realize how embarrassing my behavior was. I almost felt as if I had caught Dara’s attitude.

Kenn raised one of his eyebrows, then chuckled softly while looking at me. “Why is your face so red? Is the air too hot?” he teased.

I lowered my head, trying to hide the blush on my cheeks while staring at my feet that were moving restlessly. This was all because of Dara. She had forced me to wear seven-centimeter high heels with open toes, even though I had prepared my favorite sneakers. Her reason was so I could match Kenn’s height. So annoying.

“Why didn’t you just wear your usual shoes?” I quickly turned to Kenn. His lips twitched, trying to hold back a laugh. “You’re not comfortable wearing heels that high, are you?”

My eyes widened. How could Kenn notice my discomfort with these shoes? Did I really look that strange when I walked?

“Or don’t tell me you’re afraid I’ll call you short again?” he added.

His mischievous nature clearly hadn’t disappeared. He even gave an irritating thin grin.

“Who said that? This is all because of Dara’s idea,” I denied with a pout. “I already refused, but she still forced me. She said I had to look perfect in front of you.”

In the middle of my grumbling, I suddenly felt Kenn gently lifting my heel, making me gasp. “Wait, Kenn! What are you doing?” I exclaimed in shock.

This was the second time he had left me stunned by his actions. Without hesitation, he helped me take off the shoes carefully.

“Be quiet for a moment, I don’t want your feet to get hurt,” he said firmly yet gently.

By anyone in this world who is considered handsome, I swear they were completely defeated by Kenn’s sweet demeanor at this moment. I was still blushing, even though I had to accept the fact that now my height only reached his armpit.

“Now I really look so small in front of you,” I complained softly. “Dara said you prepared all of this?”

I let out a relieved breath because I had managed to find another topic of conversation. I turned my gaze around, admiring the restaurant building that had once been dark and was now decorated with rows of colorful little lights hanging beautifully on the walls.

“I didn’t expect you to have such a romantic side,” I added.

“Do you like it?” he asked as he leaned slightly toward me.

I nodded while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, still reluctant to look directly into his eyes.

“I love it. It’s far more beautiful than I imagined.”

Kenn did not step away immediately. Instead, he reached for my fingers and held them carefully, as if I were fragile porcelain.

“Frel, look at me,” he asked softly.

His low voice created a strange vibration that spread all the way to my chest.

Slowly, I gathered the courage to look up, meeting his dark eyes that were now radiating extraordinary sincerity.

“I prepared all this on purpose because I want you to know one thing,” Kenn continued.

He brought the back of my hand to his lips and kissed it briefly yet deeply. That touch made my breath feel as if it were about to stop.

“In my eyes, you are always perfect. With or without those high heels. You don’t need to try to be someone else just to impress me.”

I froze, losing my words. The silence of the night, accompanied only by the sound of the fountain, made his confession feel many times more meaningful.
