Chapter 182: Surprise

We stood in front of a large, magnificent restaurant. The light from inside the building was still shining brightly, but the surroundings felt very quiet. It seemed that at Kenn’s request, this restaurant had been deliberately emptied for privacy.

“Why is this place so quiet, Dara?” I asked softly, feeling a little confused by the atmosphere and the grandeur of the building in front of me.

Dara just winked and replied, “Just go with the flow, Frel. Kenn has planned this very carefully.”

Dara and I stepped forward toward the door. Before we reached it, suddenly, from behind a large pillar on the left side of the entrance, Tomi appeared with someone who was not unfamiliar to me.

“You’re five minutes late,” Tomi said in his usual arrogant tone while glancing at his watch.

My eyes widened in surprise. I covered my mouth with my palm when I realized the figure of the woman who was now walking closer.

“Sasha, right?” I asked to make sure while pointing at her.

She nodded slowly while smiling.

“Really? Sasha, the one who once hit Tomi with a dictionary?”

Once again, Sasha nodded while smiling in amusement, while Tomi shot a sharp look at me.

“Can you not bring up that embarrassing incident on this happy day?” Tomi protested, his face starting to redden.

Ignoring Tomi’s reaction, I immediately ran over and hugged Sasha.

“How can you be here, Sasha? I really missed you!”

Sasha immediately lowered her head deeply. “I’m sorry, Frel. All this time, I didn’t have the chance to keep in touch with all of you. I ... you certainly know my reason back then, so—”

“Oh, I understand. It’s okay.” I showed her a wide smile.

How could I forget that Sasha’s decision to transfer schools was solely made so that she could forget Tomi.

“The most important thing is that now you’re here, right in front of my eyes,” I said to reassure her.

“But don’t worry, Frel. Soon we’ll be together again like before. Right, Sasha?” Dara suddenly cut in as she came over and wrapped her arms around our shoulders. “Guess what we’re planning for next semester?” Dara teased with a cheerful expression

“What do you mean?” I asked in confusion. I truly didn’t understand the direction of their conversation. “Don’t make me even more curious, just tell me already,” I pleaded.

“It means that now we’re back together. The surprise is that soon Sasha will transfer to our school,” Tomi explained. One of his arms wrapped around Sasha’s waist, whose face now looked flushed. “I won’t let her go far away from me again,” Tomi added in a protective tone.

“You’re back in a relationship? Is that true, Sasha?” I focused more on Tomi’s statement.

The three of them nodded in unison, and Dara even looked the most excited.

“Congratulations! I’m so happy!” I hugged Sasha again, even though Tomi protested because he felt our moment together was being disturbed.

“Frel, your hug is too tight, she might run out of breath!” Tomi complained, which I immediately answered with laughter.

I didn’t care, I felt extremely happy right now.

“Finally, we’ll be in the same school again. This is really a surprise for me.”

It took me a moment to be carried away by the joy of welcoming Sasha, until I finally realized that someone was standing awkwardly in the right corner of the restaurant, not far from where we were.

“Gita?” Instantly, Sasha, Tomi, and Dara turned to look in the same direction. “You’re here too?”

“Yes, Frel,” she replied as she slowly walked toward me. “Earlier, I visited your house, but the neighbor said you had already moved to Dara’s house. I didn’t know Dara’s address, so I called Kenn, and he asked me to come to this restaurant,” she continued after standing right in front of me.

“I hesitated to come because I was afraid of disturbing your moment, but Kenn convinced me to still come here,” she whispered softly.

I remained silent as I saw Gita seeming to want to say something more.

“I’m sorry for your loss over the passing of your grandfather and grandmother, Frel.”

“Thank you,” I replied while giving her a warm smile.

Even though those words made me remember my grandfather and grandmother again, at least now I had become more sincere in letting go of their departure.

“Your support means so much to me in getting through this difficult time,” I added.

“They say you claim to be her friend, so why did you only come now?” Dara blurted out.

I immediately shot her a sharp look. “Dara, watch your words!” I scolded.

Dara looked annoyed and muttered to herself, while Sasha frowned.

“I’m sorry, when I heard the sad news, I went straight to your house, Frel. But at that time, you were at the hospital. I rushed there, but I wasn’t allowed to go in. I came several times, and Kenn knew about it. I even happened to see Kevan there.”

“What? Kevan? Are you sure you didn’t see wrong, Gita?” I asked in rapid succession. “Are you sure that person was really him and not just someone who looked like him?”

“I’m sure it was Kevan. Without him knowing, I saw him several times watching you from behind the window glass, Frel. He looked very worried, but it seemed he still didn’t dare to meet you directly,” Gita explained with a serious look.

I didn’t know how to describe my feelings right now. What I knew for sure was that I felt very relieved. It turned out that what I had been seeing all this time was not just my imagination.

“So he was really there? He didn’t leave me alone,” I murmured to myself.

“Thank you for the information, Gita,” I said sincerely.

I didn’t forget to pull Dara’s hand and look at her sharply.

“Now you’ve heard the reason yourself, right? Stop being cold to her,” I whispered to Dara.

“All right, I admit I was wrong,” Dara said, even though her face still looked unwilling. “I’m sorry, Gita, for having thought badly of you,” she added while extending her hand and smiling at Gita. “Let’s start this friendship over again,” Dara suggested.

“It’s okay,” Gita replied as she accepted Dara’s hand. “I’m glad we could clear up this misunderstanding.”

“Is everything done now? Sorry to interrupt your conversation, now it’s time for Frel to go in and enjoy time with Kenn.” Tomi checked the watch on his wrist. “Come on, Frel. It’s already late. Kenn has been waiting too long, and he can get very impatient when it comes to you.”

“Why are you all just standing here? Aren’t you coming inside too?” I asked in confusion.

Tomi, Dara, and Sasha shook their heads in unison. Before I could ask further, Tomi had already pushed my back.

“This is special time for the two of you, we have our own plans,” Dara teased while winking.

“Hurry up and go in. Poor my cousin has been waiting too long inside.”
