ARIANA
I was sitting on Enzo's lap. The fill view mirror was placed in front of the chair. “Are you ready?” He asked me in a low tone. I slowly nodded my head, looking into the mirror. Tears already started filling my eyes.
Before he could touch my hair, Enzo turned me around in his arms. Now I was facing him instead of the mirror. “Look at me.” He whispered and I nodded. He wiped my tears with the back of his hand and started what he was about to do.
Enzo turned the clippers on and started shaving my head. I watched my beautiful blonde locks start falling on my lap, and my tears started flowing from my eyes as well. I clutched into Enzo's shirt.
He stopped for a few seconds every now and then. Then he would continue. When I finally looked up, my eyes widened in surprise. I found Enzo crying as he shaved my head. He would stop just to wipe his tears, so I wouldn't know that he was crying.
The heartless man who had hurt me in ways, was crying before my eyes. For a moment, my heart clenched at the sight. I knew there weren't many locks left on my head. I was almost completely bald. But he couldn't bring himself to shave those last few locks.
I grabbed his hands. Enzo finally looked down on me. He tried to force a smile on his face. But instead, his eyes started raining down. He hugged me tightly, holding me against his chest.
“I should have been the one to go through all this. I was supposed to get punished. You never did anything wrong. You were the best wife anyone could have ever asked for. Despite all the odds, guy worked so hard to build a relationship between us. I was the one who ruined it all. I was supposed to get punished, not you.” Listening to him, my heart started melting.
At that point, I didn't know if I ever hated him or what. I wrapped my arms around his torso and cried with him. It took us a while to finally calm down. He wiped his tears and shaved my head completely.
I watched him cleaning everything up. Then he filled the tub with warm water and added soap in it. “You'll feel better. And every little bits of hair would wash off, if they got stuck on your skin.” I didn't argue with him. I was too exhausted for that.
The last couple of days had been a disaster. I just wanted to lay in bed and fall asleep. Enzo helped me inside the tub. As I soaked my body in the water, a moan tore through my lips.
The warmth of the water was rather soothing. I sank into the water, letting it take away my exhaustion. Enzo was sitting beside the tub. He was stroking my head gently. “It's not your fault that my fate is such a bitch.” I whispered, trying to stop him from blaming himself.
Yes, a lot of things had happened. And we couldn't do anything to make it right in any way. He offered me a small smile. Then nodded his head. Mayy, we both were just too exhausted. He got up and was about to leave when I grabbed his thumb and stopped him. “You look like you also need some warm water. Why don't you join me?” I didn't know what took over me. But I just offered him to bathe with me.
Enzo smiled and shook his head. “I don't deserve any mercy from you. I deserve your hatred. Don't try to soften your heart for me.” He whispered softly, almost bitterly.
“I can hate you all I want. But right now, I need you.” I didn't try to hide it. I just blurted it out. When he heard me, he nodded his head after a minute long shocked look that he gave me. Within seconds, I watched him stripping out of his clothes. Then he got into the tub. He laid in the tub and opened his arms for me.
I quickly wrapped my arms around his torso. Hugging him felt like someone was healing me. None of us said any unnecessary words. I rested my head on his chest. His hold tightened around my waist. My eyelids were getting heavier. “You can sleep. I will take you to bed. So don't worry.” He whispered in my ear, reassuring that I was safe in his arms.
Like a fool, I believed him this time too. Love was cruel, but hating him was the cruelest. I wasn't supposed to trust him again. And there I was, trusting his promises again. I knew the fact that he never kept them.
