Chapter 81: Beneath the Surface

Kia's POV

Her hips swinging from left to right as she sashayed towards a group of men. Her kneel length peach coloured dress clung tightly to her curves, the color of the dress complimenting her fair skin, her hair was fell over her shoulders in a wavy curl, and swinged as she walked.  My gaze not leaving her as men and women fawned over in a attempt to get an autograph signed or for collaborations.

"I'm sorry but I do not know you" her words resounded in my head. The image of her face imprinted in mind. I walked back to my seat, watching her from afar to avoid attracting people's attention to the. Her smile was radiant as she spoke, lighting up her entire face with warmth and joy.

"Kia.. Kia, is something bothering you?" Hazel's shrill voice came from behind me, tapping my shoulders as she spoke.

"Geez, Hazel must you show your lack of culture everywhere," I snapped, turning abruptly to her, eyes filled with range.

"someone's in a sour mood, alright I'll let ya be" she hissed, taking a long sip of her cocktail drink.

I dragged  my gaze back to where alexia stood, bit she was no longer there.

"Thank you everyone, thank you for making it here, it's such an honor to me" her modulated voice rang from the podium, her jewelries glistening against the lights from where I sat.

"Isn't she an angel?" Hazel mused, propping her chin up with her hands, eyes shining with admiration.

Typical!

" I think Its time you get getting going"

"What do you mean get going! I ain't no child you can boss around. Ohh, don't tell me you have plans of having the CEO of tracian stitches?," She let out a high pitched shrill laugh, "or do you seem to be forgetting that you have a bedroom problem?" She leaned in but her words definitely didn't come out as a whisper.

Eyes turned to our direction, as I beckoned on my security that stood barely six inches away from us. Soon enough he was grabbing Hazel's arm causing her to scream in response.

The look of each and everyone one of the Elders the day I called for a meeting. I couldn't miss the look of disdain and sheer disappointment on their faces. Their reactions and expressions nothing like "pleased" to meet you.

"I have decided that it's in the best interest of the pack if I lease ownership to to Hunter for the time being, while I work on finding a solution to my problem" I annnounced through tightned jaws, clenching my first as I spoke.

"Finally you're using your senses, Elder Ralph beamed, clapping his hands gleefully, obviously overjoyed by the information.

"I'm glad you're happy" I stated.

"What I mean Kia is that, everyone is beginning to make hushed comments. They think you're incompetent and as such should hand over power to someone who is... You know," he shrugged, competent enough"

"Right,

"It's of More honour and integrity that you hand it in yourself rather than having the entire pack mock you into handing over leadership. So chap," he continued, "patting my back, you made the right decision."

"That draws us to the end of this meeting I presume as I made to stand up, the elders filing out of the room, well all except for elder Jay.

"Son!" Elder Jay's voice called out behind me, causing me to halt in my tracks while the last Elder made his way out of the room.

"Yes Elder Jay?"

"Do you think you are making the right decision?"

"What do mean right decision? Isn't this something every single one of you prayed and hoped for all these years," I retorted

"Watch your tone there Sonny," He warned, pointing a finger at me, "you don't go around generalising like that.  Elder Ralph here is obviously happy, I mean who wouldn't be when the leadership is being handed over to his nephew."

"But the members of the pack, he continued, I'm afraid night not wekcome your decision with open arms"

"Well they have no other choice than to accept the reality of things. Hunter is well trained, maybe more trained and capable than I am. So they have absolutely nothing to scared of.

"Stop lying to yourself will you? You and I know that this handover is very difficult for you. So quit acting like it's not a big deal"

"But it really isn't" I shrugged, even though deep down without the leadership role, Life seemed quite meanikiglwss to me. I mean what was I meant to be doing with my life? Playing chess and having a tea party? The thought of it alone made me wince in pain.

"So what's your plan?

"Huh?"

"Don't give me the confused act boy, you mentioned that the handover was going to be temporary till you can find a solution. What's your plan towards that?" He clarified,

"I'm going to find alexia" I declared, relieved to finally share my plan with someone else.

"And how's that possible, wasn't she devoured by some other pack or something" he leaned in, the subject over piquing his interest.

"No she's very much alive"

"And how does finding her solve your problem?"

"Well I've been told by a certain witch that the solution to my problem, lay in alexia's hands."

"You went to a -"

"There's no time for us to argue about that." I stated, interrupting him.

"Sir we found something," Kyle announced on cue,

"On the mission?" I inquired.

"Yes, on the mission," he nodded, handing me an envelope.

"In there is the venue and time for a launch party being organized by the tracian stitches, everyone who is anyone will be there and that is your opportunity to blend in without looking like a creep," he paused, "my apologies sir."

"I spot two cards in here," I arched my eyebrows at him

"The second one is an address to where the company is located, I got that, before learning about the party.

"Alright you may leave."

"So you're attending the party?"

"I'm attending the party."

******-----*****

"Are you seriously going to have your guards throw me out of the party" Hazel's shrill voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

"Not just out of the party darling Hazel. But out of my life aswell." I smirked, turning to the guards,  "Make sure she doesn't steal any of my valuables, else you'll be beheaded for it." I instructed, taking a sip of the drink that was placed in front of me.

"Okay Master."

I turned my gaze away from them, the loud music drowning Hazel's shrill plea.

Looking ahead I watched as the guests grouped themselves in pairs, supposedly for a dance. This was my cue to have a conversation with alexia. Taking long struts to look for her in the crowd, I spotted her familiar figure, but this time she wasn't alone, she was hooking hands with my arch rival, the Alpha of Moonlight pack.

Garvin!
