Chapter 309: Being Interrupted at the Critical Moment
"Ethan." Vivian leaned in closer. "Are you sulking with me? Of course, I know we can spend money and promote it, but promotion also needs eye-catching content. Can something as simple as me sipping water go viral on the internet?"
"And moreover, Quinton might be hiding in some small place. One-time spending on promotion won't work. What I need is genuine traffic. Not just something that people will see and then move on, but something that will spark continued discussion."
"In that case, let's announce our wedding," Ethan said earnestly. "I'll give you luxury cars, a mansion, and a diamond ring. One ring is enough to fuel months of discussion."
"But that would be too formal. Besides, we haven't planned for that before nor have we informed my grandparents. A formal wedding wouldn't be good. What I mean is something casual. Don't take it lightly. Think about it seriously!"
Even though he wasn't happy, Ethan still shared Vivian's burden.
"There's actually an opportunity recently. There will likely be a lot of journalists gathering there. We might not need to spend money and still get plenty of media coverage."
"Really?" Vivian became a bit interested. "What opportunity is it?"
Ethan glanced at Vivian. "I'm just afraid you won't want to go."
Vivian became even more interested. "Why?"
"You want to know that badly?"
"Of course. I might as well hold a knife to your throat and force you to tell me."
"Fine." Ethan nodded. "Wait for me."
As Ethan got up to leave, Vivian immediately grabbed his arm and stood up. "Let me go with you. I want to know what exactly you're up to."
Ethan glanced at Vivian and his eyes darkened. "I don't know what I'm up to. All I know is that I have a beautiful woman in front of me."
With that, he lowered his head and moved closer to Vivian.
Vivian allowed his action, but just as he was about to get really close, she suddenly raised a finger and pressed it against his lips.
She smiled mischievously, "Show me first."
Ethan gritted his teeth and leaned over to bite her ear. "You damn little thing!"
"Hahaha," Vivian chuckled at Ethan's reaction. "I just love how you can't stand me and yet you can't do anything about me."
Ethan looked at her dotingly. "Come with me."
Soon, the two of them came to Ethan's desk.
Ethan took out an exquisite card from the drawer and handed it to Vivian.
It was clearly an invitation card. Vivian opened it and was surprised to see that it was an invitation to Owen's birthday party, which was tomorrow evening.
Seeing the fleeting surprise in her eyes, Ethan asked her, "So, do you not want to go?"
Instead of answering directly, Vivian handed the invitation card back to Ethan. "He's a popular star in showbiz, and he comes from an influential family. There will surely be many other celebrities and media attending his birthday party, right?"
Ethan nodded. "Yes."
"In that case, I will go. Even though I don't have an invitation card, I can go as your companion."
"What companion," Ethan frowned. "You're my wife, the official spouse!"
Vivian said, "Were you possessed by a dictionary today? You've been correcting me nonstop."
Ethan snorted, "I wasn't planning to go in the first place, but I reluctantly went just to accompany you. So, you need to compensate me."
"Oh my god. Ethan, are you trying to act cute with me?"
Ethan said, "Looks like my attitude was not firm enough. I'm saying, you must compensate me, preferably by offering yourself."
"I promise you." Vivian pinched Ethan's chin. "Clean yourself up and wait for me at home tonight."
Ethan's eyes were filled with lust when he heard this. "Really, you're not lying to me?"
"Of course not!"
...
In the afternoon, Vivian took someone to find Mason and discuss finding Ava together.
Then, she went straight back to Harmony Heights.
After having dinner with Margaret, Vivian went upstairs.
Because she had promised Ethan during the day, Ethan was waiting for her upstairs.
When she went up, Ethan had already taken a shower.
Not only that, he also played music and lit scented candles, creating a very warm and romantic atmosphere.
Vivian also loved romance.
Under the soft light, her beautiful face became gentle.
"Is this all prepared for me?"
"Yes." Ethan couldn't help but hug his beloved woman. "Although you didn't say it, I know you also like these things. I personally arranged them, but due to limited time, this was the best I could do. Next time, I'll plan better."
"It's already enough." Vivian entrusted her entire weight to the man in front of her. "The meaning of having someone else arrange things and you personally arranging them is different. I really like it."
"I'm glad that you like it." Ethan took a deep breath, trying hard to suppress the boiling blood inside him, his voice hoarse. "I miss you, really miss you. We haven't been together for several months."
"Yes." Vivian was also turned on. "I missed you too."
What responded to her was a passionate and intense kiss.
The moment they fell down, the petals on the bed sank along with their bodies.
Vivian pinched Ethan's shoulder and cursed, "Not so fast!"
But at the most critical moment, Vivian's phone suddenly rang.
Vivian had no intention of answering it, but the phone kept ringing.
Ethan was so angry that he even wanted to throw her phone away.
But when he picked up the phone and saw the caller ID display as Grandmother, he instantly stopped all actions.
Vivian also saw the incoming call display.
She lay down with her phone and answered the call while gesturing for Ethan to stay silent.
Ethan looked sad, but he was still cooperative in his actions.
Vivian cleared her throat and asked, "Hello, Grandmother. What's wrong?"
Margaret's voice sounded panicked. "Vivian, can you come and see me? I accidentally fell down."
"What?" Vivian immediately sat up. "Where did you fall? I'll come right away!"
Upon hearing that Margaret fell, Ethan said immediately, "I'll go with you."
But Margaret stopped him. "Vivian, you can come back alone. I fell while taking a shower. Just come and help me for a moment."
"Okay, I'll come down right away!" Vivian worriedly advised. "Don't move. Stay in that position. I'll be there soon."
"Okay, hurry up."
After hanging up the phone, Vivian immediately began to dress.
As she put on her clothes, she explained to Ethan, "Grandmother is in the bathroom, so it's not convenient for you to go. I'll go down first."
Ethan nodded. "Call me if you need anything."
"I know." Vivian buttoned up the last button on her chiffon blouse, lowered her head, and quickly kissed Ethan.
Ethan got up and wrapped a towel around his waist. Then he walked Vivian to the door, knowing that she probably wouldn't come back tonight.
He even suspected that Margaret did it on purpose...
