Chapter 308: Public Display of Affection
Before Vivian could start scolding Sheldon, Sally landed a blow on his head.
"What did you just say? You really have no filter. Back then, we asked you to pursue Vivian, but you didn't. Now, you're coming up with such rotten ideas?" Sally exclaimed.
"How could I pursue her? I can't handle her. Only Ethan has that privilege," Sheldon laughed, putting his arm around Vivian's shoulder. "Besides, the relationship between Vivian and me is purely friendship. Even if we both get married, it won't change."
Sally rolled her eyes. "Vivian is already married. Who are you going to marry? Do you even want to get married?"
"Of course, I do. Can't you see that I'm currently in love?" Sheldon replied.
"You make me speechless. Is what you're doing called being in love? I think it's more like dating different girls," Sally remarked.
"Dating different girls? It sounds so derogatory! I genuinely treated every girlfriend with sincerity, you know? The reason I haven't married yet is that I feel they are not attractive enough. They are neither as excellent as my sister nor as beautiful as Vivian," Sheldon explained.
Vivian, feeling annoyed, grabbed his hand and pushed it away. "Go away, playboy. Let me tell you. I don't need your help with my publicity. Just find someone to keep an eye on the immigration office for me."
"Okay, I'll definitely do as you ordered. What would you like for lunch? It's on me," Sheldon offered.
Sally didn't hold back at all and said to Sheldon, "I want a fancy meal. You haven't treated me to a meal since I came back. I should make you bleed a little."
Sheldon chuckled, "Come on, Sally. Trying to make me broke with just one meal? What are you thinking?"
He then turned to Vivian and asked, "What about you, Vivian? What kind of big meal do you want?"
Vivian glanced at her phone and said, "Sorry, dear ones. I already have plans."
Sheldon grinned mischievously, "It's Ethan, huh? Always keeping tabs on you?"
Vivian rolled her eyes at Sheldon. "That's called normal life, building a relationship. All you know is keeping tabs. I'm leaving!"
"I'll walk you out."
"No need. We don't have to be so polite with each other." With that, Vivian stood up.
After leaving Sheldon's office, Vivian immediately called Ethan.
"I've thought about it. I'll go to your company's staff canteen for lunch."
"Staff canteen?" Ethan was somewhat surprised. "Are we not going to the restaurant? Why do you suddenly want to go there for lunch?
"Denial rumor!" Vivian smiled. "I've seen the news before. Didn't William deny our marriage back then? I saw that you were heavily criticized by netizens. They said you didn't deserve me. So today, I am going to support you."
"What do you mean by support?" Ethan chuckled. "In Benton Group, do I still need you to support me?"
"Yeah, I have to let your employees see that we are a perfect match."
"Alright then." Ethan's tone was cheerful and doting. "Then I am looking forward to your arrival."
...
Most of the employees in the Benton Group knew Vivian.
Vivian had just entered the lobby on the first floor when Ethan called.
"I have a simple meeting to attend. I'll let Austin come down to pick you up. The people downstairs cannot use my exclusive elevator."
Under normal circumstances, if Ethan said there was a meeting, Vivian would not disturb him.
But today she just wanted to keep a high profile.
She refused Ethan's proposal. "Why can't you come to pick me up in person? What meeting is more important than me?"
Ethan hesitated for a moment, but soon laughed, "Okay, wait for me. I'll come to pick you up right away."
Vivian also smiled, "What about your meeting then?"
"What do you think? Of course, I'll let them wait. I have already left the office."
So, one minute later, Ethan personally came down to the lobby and picked up Vivian.
The receptionist immediately posted this news in the company group chat.
She said that Ethan actually delayed the meeting in order to accompany Vivian in the elevator! As soon as Ethan came, Vivian held his hand, and they looked so close!
Later, when Vivian and Ethan joined hands and had a meal at the staff canteen, the group chat exploded with gossip again.
"Oh my god. Am I seeing this right? Mr. Benton and Mrs. Benton are actually eating in the canteen just like us."
"Just now, I was queuing together with Mr. Benton and Mrs. Benton! Mrs. Benton is stunning, with flawless skin."
"Is today Mr. Benton and Mrs. Benton's lovey-dovey day? Mrs. Benton actually fed Mr. Benton food, and Mr. Benton couldn't stop smiling!"
"Hahaha, there were rumors online about their marriage falling apart before, but it seems like they are still very much in love."
Meanwhile, Ethan was extremely curious about Vivian's actions today. "Why did you suddenly think of supporting me? It was so sudden."
"What's wrong?" Vivian glanced at Ethan. "You're not happy?"
"How could I be?" Ethan smiled wholeheartedly. "Do I look unhappy to you? I like you just the way you are today."
"What way?" Vivian was infected by Ethan's laughter, and her lips couldn't help but curve up.
Ethan held her hand and said, "You come to me. Let me come down to pick you up, and we can go eat hand in hand. I like everything about it."
Vivian raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Okay, actually I'm quite happy too. But, I also have a small ulterior motive."
"Hmm?" As soon as Ethan heard Vivian mention the word 'motive', he instinctively furrowed his brows. "What do you want to do? Do you have a motive for having a meal with me?"
"Don't worry. I'm here to discuss it with you, right?" Vivian smiled and gave Ethan a sip of water. "I respect you. At least this time I didn't make the decision alone."
Ethan didn't believe it. "Alright, go ahead. I'm all ears."
Vivian then explained her plan to lure Quinton out, Mason coming to find her, and everything that followed.
Ethan's face darkened as he listened.
"So this is what you mean by not making the decision alone? Do you have a misunderstanding about the word 'not'?"
Vivian found it amusing to see Ethan's expression changing in a second. She couldn't help but laugh.
Ethan grew angrier. "You still laugh? This is a serious matter, okay?"
"Okay, okay. I won't laugh anymore. I'll be serious too." As Vivian spoke, she sat up straight and explained her reasons to Ethan again, just like she had told Sally.
After finishing, she added, "Even Sally understood me when she was in a bad mood, won't you understand as well?"
Ethan glared at Vivian. "I don't care! Do I have to understand you because she understood you? She's not my wife, but you are... Why should I..."
"Okay. Okay." Vivian cut Ethan off. "Let's not mention her anymore. I want to reintroduce myself on the entire internet, but we can't do it publicly only within the Benton Group. What do you think we should do?"
Ethan responded irritably, "Spend the money and promote it!"
