Chapter 303: I Can't Stop Her
Margaret thought about it and still had a lingering fear. She couldn't help but sigh, "Luckily, I didn't go. Otherwise, Ethan would have easily followed me. So, it's better for you to handle this matter, but you must do it discreetly."
"Don't worry, Mom. I know what to do. By the way, you said Vivian just came back. Did she notice anything unusual?"
"No." Margaret thought for a moment and said, "When she came back, I was already packing my luggage. Her sudden appearance startled me, but I managed to deceive her successfully. She shouldn't suspect anything."
"Alright, then I will handle it. Mom, you must stabilize Vivian because Ethan listens to her. If she starts suspecting you, our plans will be in jeopardy."
"I know! But Clive, no matter how you deal with Ethan, you must not harm Vivian! Although she is not related to me by blood, she is my dear granddaughter in my heart."
Vivian had just finished her shower and happened to hear Margaret's last sentence.
In fact, she had been thinking about her grandmother while taking a shower.
Vivian had a feeling that Margaret had been mistreated while she was away. Otherwise, why would Margaret suddenly want to go back to her hometown alone?
So, Vivian quickly finished her shower and came out.
However, as soon as Vivian came out, she heard Margaret talking on the phone.
So she asked, "Grandmother, who are you talking to and why did you mention me? Is it the same person who called you when I just got back today?"
Margaret didn't close the door when she made the call because she was afraid Vivian would think she was being sneaky.
However, she didn't expect Vivian, who usually took half an hour to shower, to come out in just a few minutes.
But Margaret quickly came up with a reasonable excuse. "Yes, it's Robin from my hometown, the doorman of the shoe factory."
"Robin?" Vivian did remember such a person, and it seemed that this old man had always liked her grandmother. "Grandmother, you mentioned wanting to go back before. Could it be because of Robin? Did he want you to go back?"
In fact, there was some truth to it. Just when Vivian was thinking along those lines, Margaret picked up on her thoughts.
"You could say that. I haven't had someone to talk to these past few days while you are away, and Robin has indeed called me a few times. We chatted about our daily lives. He knew I wasn't satisfied with my grandson-in-law, so he advised me that each generation has its own happiness, and said that we old folks shouldn't disturb you young people."
"He said he could keep me company, and I thought it wasn't a bad idea, so I entertained the thought. Just now he called again, and I told him that you didn't want me to leave. He got upset, so I spoke some harsh words."
"How dare he? I treat you as my own granddaughter. How can he compare himself to you? Anyway, I've already decided to stay by your side. No one can drive me away!"
Vivian couldn't help but feel helpless and amused. Margaret's previous decision was indeed hasty. If Margaret really wanted to live with Robin, she should have done so decades ago. But now, just to avoid disturbing her, Margaret...
"Alas," Vivian sighed. "Grandmother, you can't let Robin fool you with just a few words! My home is your home, and wherever I settle in the future, I'll take you with me as long as you're willing."
...
After dinner, Vivian slept soundly.
It wasn't until the next morning when she was woken up by the ringtone.
She squinted and grabbed the phone. When she saw that it was Sheldon calling, she was so furious.
"Sheldon! You better have something extremely urgent to tell me, or else I'm going to personally come over and beat you up! Do you know what time it is now? It's not even 8 o'clock! I was just dreaming. I dreamt that I was finally asleep, but you woke me up. Waking up twice, I am extremely sleepy!"
Sheldon on the other end of the phone was in distress. "My queen, Ms. Swain, I'm sorry! But you need to be prepared in advance. Let me tell you. Sally hasn't eaten or slept since she found out about Christopher's death."
"Today, she finally opened her door, but she didn't look well. Christopher's death has hit her hard. She only wants to find his body now and insists on going to Miriwyth."
Now Vivian was completely awake. "Then stop her! Don't you know how chaotic Miriwyth is? How can you let her go there?"
"I know!" Sheldon said. "I have hidden her passport and ID card. Without these two things, she can't go anywhere now. But although I can stop her from going to Miriwyth, I can't stop her from going to find you."
"What?" Vivian sat up suddenly. "Where does she plan to find me? Does she know my current address?"
"Maybe she plans to go to the Swain Group."
Just then, Sally's call came in suddenly.
Vivian hurriedly said to Sheldon, "She's calling me. Gotta go."
After saying that, Vivian answered Sally's call. "Sally, where are you now? The Swain Group?"
On the phone, Sally's hoarse voice quickly rang out, as if she hadn't had water for a long time.
"No, I'm hungry. I'm eating right now. Where are you? I'll come find you after I finish eating."
"No need. It's better if I come to find you instead." Hearing that Sally sounded exhausted, Vivian asked Sally to stay where she was. "Just send me your location, and I'll head out immediately."
"Okay, I'll wait for you. I must see you in person."
"Okay!" After hanging up the phone, Vivian quickly received the location sent by Sally.
After hastily washing up, Vivian didn't even have breakfast and went out in her car directly.
...
When Vivian arrived at the restaurant, half an hour had already passed.
Sally was eating pasta there, devouring them without any concern for her own image.
Vivian was worried that Sally would get too stuffed, so she advised Sally, "Take your time. Did you finish all those empty plates next to you just now? How can you eat so much all at once?"
Sally took another bite of pasta. "I need to eat. Only when I'm full will I have the energy! Vivian, tell me. Who do you think might have taken Christopher's body? Was it that guy named Quinton? How can we find him? I want to bring Christopher back. You must have a way to send me there, right?"
Vivian frowned, "Sally, I'm not sure about these questions you're asking, so I can't answer you. Even if we go there, it might not be useful. Because if Quinton is still alive, he might have already come to Valarna to find me..."
