Chapter 302: Never Expected That
"Hmm!" Vivian nodded and teased Ethan, "You must have been bored pretending to be in a vegetative state for all those days."
"Yes." Ethan furrowed his brows. But when he looked down at Vivian, his frown immediately softened. "But ever since you appeared, I haven't been bored anymore."
"Of course," Vivian said without modesty. "There are few people in this world who possess such an infinite charm like me. But, to be honest..."
Vivian hooked her arms around Ethan's neck and pulled him closer, making him bend over. "You should rest more in the future. We can go and visit places together. A few days ago when I was climbing the Elps, I really wanted to take you there too."
"Really?" Ethan's eyes brightened. "You thought of me when you were mountain climbing?"
"Yes," Vivian chuckled. "Don't you know that I came back to Yondora because I've been thinking about you all this time?"
"Hmm." Ethan looked at Vivian, his eyes filled with lust.
He didn't care about the bustling airport and directly lowered his head to kiss her lips.
Vivian kissed him back and then gently pushed him away. "We're blocking the way."
Ethan was still not satisfied. He stood still, jokingly saying, "One day I will buy this airport."
"Sure," Vivian also teasingly said. "Let all the planes in the sky belong to the Benton family."
"Okay." Ethan became serious. "Then I will work hard to complete the instructions that my wife gave me as soon as possible."
From now on, his work was no longer just for the Benton Group, but more to make himself stronger and closer to his woman.
...
Ethan originally intended to send Vivian back to Harmony Heights, but Vivian didn't want him to waste time on the road, so eventually she returned to the apartment alone.
While eating the meal on the plane, she began to miss the meals her grandmother used to cook. Vivian originally thought that as soon as she entered the house, she would smell the enticing aroma of food, but when she pushed open the door, she found that it was quiet at home.
There was no one in the kitchen or in the living room, not even in the bathroom.
Vivian was puzzled, so she called out, "Grandmother."
Yet, there was no response. Instead, there were some noises coming from her grandmother's room.
Vivian became subconsciously alert and casually picked up a vase from the coffee table and walked toward Margaret's room.
However, when Vivian carefully opened the door, she discovered that it was none other than her grandmother, Margaret, who was making the noise in the room.
Margaret was startled by Vivian's sudden appearance and hurriedly put back what she was holding into the wardrobe.
"Vivian! Why didn't you greet me when you came back? You freaked me out!"
Vivian immediately put down the vase and walked over to Margaret. "I did greet you. What are you doing? Why are you still keeping the room door locked?"
Vivian's eyes landed on the clothes on the bed and the suitcase on the floor.
She exclaimed in surprise, "Are you packing, Grandmother? Where are you going? Are you going on a long trip?"
"Oh." Margaret stopped what she was doing and explained to Vivian, "Actually, it's just..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her phone rang.
Knowing that Vivian had a photographic memory, Margaret immediately picked up the phone to prevent Vivian from seeing the screen.
Vivian was confused. "What's wrong, Grandmother? Why do you act so strange?"
"There's nothing strange." Margaret hung up the phone and continued to explain, "To be honest, Vivian, I planned to go back to my hometown."
"Huh? Why, Grandmother? Aren't you comfortable living here? Don't you get along well with the old lady downstairs?"
"I still prefer living in my hometown."
"I know, but you're old now, and it's not convenient for you to live alone in your hometown. Before, I could accompany you there, but I might be living here more often from now on. I don't feel at ease letting you go back alone."
"Alas," Margaret sighed, "I originally came to find your cousin, but I haven't been able to find him, so I wanted to go back."
"Grandmother," Vivian persuaded, "even if you didn't find my cousin, you still have me. Please don't go back to your hometown alone. Can you consider it as taking care of me?"
"But..."
"Grandmother, I beg you." Vivian had no other choice but to act coquettish like she used to when she was a child.
And Margaret indeed fell for it. "Alright then. I won't go. I'll go cook for you. Didn't you say the plane arrives in the evening? Why did you come back so early? I haven't even been to the supermarket yet."
"The flight was temporarily adjusted, so we came back early," Vivian explained. "Don't bother. I'll order some food instead."
As Vivian spoke, she took out her phone and ordered takeout.
After ordering, she went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Meanwhile, Margaret immediately called back the missed call on her phone.
The person on the other end was none other than her biological son, Clive.
"Clive, Vivian suddenly came back just now, so I didn't answer your call. Have you received Tyler's ashes?"
"I did," Clive gritted his teeth on the phone. "My son has turned into a handful of ashes. I must kill Ethan, blood for blood. Mom, you must be careful, especially now that Vivian has also come back."
"Why do you say that?" Margaret frowned. "Let me tell you. You must not harm Vivian! Tyler's death was all caused by Ethan alone, and has nothing to do with Vivian."
"Mom, even if that's the case, you still have to be cautious of her. She is a smart woman and can easily spot loopholes."
"It won't happen." Margaret guaranteed. "She is the child I raised from a young age, and she has always been filial to me. We have relied on each other all this way, and she will never suspect me no matter what."
"Mom, never say never! Do you know? I just found out that Ethan is investigating you, so you need to be extra careful during this time. Don't go back to your hometown. I will handle the old medical record."
After Clive acknowledged Margaret as his birth mother, he decided to join forces with her to seek revenge against Kaysen and retrieve what originally belonged to them.
Because he valued Margaret's identity as Vivian's grandmother.
Yet, Clive was also afraid of Margaret's identity being exposed. Therefore, they carefully planned together.
Margaret said that her past identity could no longer be traced because most of the people who knew her had either died of illness or passed away. However, she still had a medical record in a small mental hospital from back then.
After discussing, they originally intended for Margaret to personally go back, find, and destroy this medical record. However, Clive never expected that Ethan had already been investigating Margaret!
