Chapter 107 The President Has No Love

On the way back, Quinn mulled things over for a while before finally blurting out, "I'm sorry!"

Carl, who was driving, shot her a quick glance. "That's it? Have you even thought about what would've happened if I hadn't shown up today? What if that crazy woman had hurt you or the baby? What would I do then? Even if you don't care about me, you should at least think about the baby."

Quinn looked at Carl's profile and went quiet. Carl never failed to bring up the child; his focus was always on the child, never on her. Her dreams were just that—dreams. They hadn't married for love, after all.

Now that there was a baby, Carl was more focused on the child. That's why he rushed to the school and even the hospital without asking about her and Alan.

Carl was clearly pissed, so he didn't say anything else.

Quinn started convincing herself again. Now that there was a baby, it was a good start. When the baby was born, Carl would gradually love her.

Thinking about this, she asked curiously, "Carl, do you want a boy or a girl?"

The sports car came to a stop, and Carl turned to look at her. "What do you mean?"

Facing Carl's gaze, Quinn felt a pang of guilt. She didn't want Carl to be upset, especially because of her. "I... I was just asking. If you don't want to answer, forget it!"

Carl's deep eyes seemed to see right through her. "Not really. I think you've been thinking about this the whole way."

"I... I just think, do you have a preference for boys, especially in families like yours that care about inheritance?" Quinn thought she wasn't thinking anything bad, so why should she be scared by his intensity? She then said seriously.

Carl unbuckled his seatbelt and flicked Quinn's forehead lightly. "Is your brain on vacation? All day you're just pondering these useless questions."

"Don't dodge it. Answer my question first. It won't change anything." Quinn grabbed his arm, not letting him get out of the car.

Carl frowned slightly, looked at her, and thought seriously. "Listen carefully, I'll only say this once. Whether it's a boy or a girl, I will love them!"

Worried that Quinn would keep asking, he quickly added, "I will be responsible for this child. I will give them my patience, companionship, and care, ensuring they grow up in a warm, stable, and loving family."

To others, Carl's words might not seem like much, but to Quinn, they hit differently; knowing his past, she realized this was the kind of family he longed for, and the realization left her feeling disappointed once again.

It turned out that this was just his way of compensating for himself, finding the family affection he had always lacked in her and the child.

Understanding this, she let go of Carl's arm, opened the car door, and got out. Watching the sports car disappear from her sight, she realized that maybe Carl was just being compassionate.

Because he didn't get these things growing up, he didn't want the child to follow in his footsteps. Suddenly, she took a deep breath. No matter what, she had to be grateful to Carl; without him, who knew where she'd be now?

Just as she was about to turn back, her phone buzzed with a message from the Elegance Group's design intern group. It was a video of Christian guiding the designers at work.

All her colleagues were super excited, acting like they were fresh out of college, with every move and even a glance showing their admiration.

Ciara was among them, with her perfect makeup, standing to Christian's left, introducing her design concepts. "As designers, we shouldn't just consider the aesthetics of our work. More importantly, we should consider its commercial value. We need to understand this fundamental logic."

Quinn frowned slightly, but Ciara kept going, "During my years studying abroad, I constantly learned and worked in design-related jobs, which helped me deeply understand the essence and conceptual framework of design. That's how I came to this realization."

Ciara shone like a spotlight, ignoring the gazes of others. Christian listened quietly, still remembering how she had slandered Quinn at the banquet. It reinforced his belief that people couldn't be judged by their appearance or talent alone.

Noticing someone filming, Christian smiled and nodded.

When Quinn arrived at the company, Christian greeted her with a gentle smile. "Master, you're here!"

Christian's heartfelt "Master" left everyone stunned. Quinn was also taken aback; she hadn't expected him to call her that in public.

But seeing his calm smile, she nodded and smiled. "Sorry, because of the Tailor-made project, we've all been working freely. I didn't know you were coming, so I rushed over."

"No problem, no problem." Suddenly, Christian thought of something and invited her. "I've got a get-together tonight. Can you make it? It's just a bunch of friends from our industry, and I want you to meet them."

Quinn couldn't express her gratitude as everyone around stared at her with surprise, envy, and jealousy—especially Ciara, who clenched her jaw and fists in anger.

But Christian remained calm, smiling as he waited for Quinn's response.

Ignoring the gazes of others, Quinn started to think. Carl had mentioned before that if she met with Christian for dinner, she should invite him.

Just as she was wondering how to bring it up, Christian seemed to guess her thoughts again and added, "Oh, I also invited Mr. Ward. After all, if there's a suitable collaboration, it can be quickly achieved."

Ciara was so jealous she stomped her foot.

Quinn then smiled and nodded. "Well, I won't say no then!"

Christian finished his inspection and said goodbye to the two directors to find Carl.

After he left, the entire design department became lively.

Even Isolde and Eddy joined the crowd to gossip.

"Quinn, what's going on? How come we've never heard you mention you have a disciple, and it's Christian? Is this a dream?"

"Yeah! Quinn, why did he call you Master? What's your relationship?"
