Chapter 108 The President and His Wife Make a Good Match

Quinn felt a bit embarrassed and awkward, so she gave a vague response. "This has to be a joke. I'm just starting out in design. How could I possibly be Christian's mentor? Let's just laugh it off and get back to work!"

After saying this, Quinn quietly slipped away as everyone returned to their workstations.

She knew explaining would only make things worse, so she hoped time would make everyone forget. But she didn't realize her joke had sparked some jealousy.

When she got home, she started working on her design until Christian messaged her about the dinner location and even offered to pick her up. She declined and had Kelly drop her off at the restaurant, but she went in alone.

Carl also arrived alone, driving his flashy sports car that stood out among the other luxury cars.

Led to the private room by the waiter, she noticed the empty seat next to Carl and promptly took it. Throughout the meal service, there was no interaction between them.

Even though Carl was young, he had a very composed demeanor, like it was second nature to him.

Despite the dinner being organized by Christian's team, Carl's presence was truly remarkable, standing out among the top-notch attendees in their respective fields.

Christian introduced Quinn to the guests, praising her talent and insights.

Everyone was full of compliments for her.

"Miss Sullivan looks so young, yet she's achieved so much. Christian has never introduced a young peer to us before."

"I think Miss Sullivan must have just graduated."

"Not only is she talented, but she's also very beautiful. She will surely become a leading figure in the industry."

"Miss Sullivan, I toast to you."

As the only woman at the dinner, Quinn became the center of attention after Christian's introduction. Someone took the opportunity to toast her, and she couldn't refuse, so she picked up the juice in front of her.

Seeing this, the man toasting her smiled warmly but asked, "How can you drink juice? You just graduated, so you must lack social experience. It's impolite to refuse someone's toast at a business dinner!"

Quinn shook her head. "Sorry, I don't drink."

"No one's born a drinker. It's a skill you pick up. This wine's good, a sip won't hurt. We're all friends here. A little buzz fits the occasion."

This man had no ill intentions, maintaining a warm smile, more like an elder imparting social survival skills to Quinn.

Quinn felt a bit awkward. She was pregnant and couldn't drink. "Sorry, I really can't drink wine because of some personal reasons."

The man was slightly taken aback but then smiled and clinked glasses with her. "It's okay, it's good for girls not to drink."

After clinking glasses and taking a sip of juice, Quinn sat quietly, giving off a serene and beautiful vibe.

Carl sipped his wine and glanced at Quinn, causing her heart to race. Avoiding his gaze, she bit her lip, unsure of her emotions.

They were both married, and she was pregnant. Why did she have these strange feelings?

Quinn hastily made an excuse, attributing her feelings to Carl's charm and her own infatuation.

However, the reality of Carl's feelings towards her and the baby struck her, overshadowing her with profound sadness and disillusionment.

Realizing this, Quinn knew that to Carl, she was just a contractual partner, with no real feelings involved. The blush on her face quickly faded.

Carl, however, noticed all her expressions.

"Hey, Ward, is Sullivan your type?" a curious man who noticed Carl's gaze asked.

Carl turned back, smiling at the man who asked but didn't answer.

But since someone had started, everyone began discussing his love life.

They talked about how excellent he was, and how such an outstanding man must be pursued by many women, so the woman Carl was infatuated with must be perfect.

Moreover, he had always kept himself clean, with no scandals, and rarely had female secretaries or assistants around him. People speculated if he was a non-marriage advocate.

This piqued everyone's curiosity.

"Hey, Mr. Ward, what's your type?"

Carl didn't answer directly but after a moment of thought, he suddenly smiled and said, "Someone who makes my heart skip a beat at first sight, whom I long for when we're apart, and who still gives me butterflies when we reunite."

"Wow! That's so romantic!"

"Beautiful!"

"She must be the luckiest girl ever!"

At the dinner, they talked about everything—work, life, and feelings, eventually circling back to design.

From the conversation, Quinn learned that Christian was also single, which surprised her. After all, he was already very successful, yet he wasn't married?

While she was still in shock, the man who had been observing her and Carl suddenly spoke, "Actually, I think Mr. Ward and Miss Sullivan make a good match. You are of similar age and both very talented."

Hearing this, Quinn's face turned red.

Carl didn't say anything, but his sharp demeanor softened a bit, with a faint smile on his lips. The others also started teasing and trying to matchmake the two until the dinner ended and everyone said their goodbyes.

Christian spoke to Quinn, "Quinn, let me take you home!"

His deep eyes were full of gentleness, showing his gentlemanly demeanor.

Carl walked past Quinn, one hand in his pocket, frowning slightly, looking curious.

Quinn was stunned, sneaking a glance at Carl.

Seeing his silence and lack of intention to speak, she pondered her decision. Turning to Christian, who awaited her response, she shook her head. "No... no need."

Christian was slightly surprised, but quickly understood when he saw Carl and recalled the events at the dinner.

Quinn felt a bit awkward and secretly glared at Carl, who had already opened the car door.

"Get in!" His words carried a hint of coldness.

Then he looked at Christian, smiling warmly. "I'll take her home, it's on my way."

Christian nodded, smiling gentlemanly. "Alright, then I'll leave it to Mr. Ward to safely take Quinn home!"

After saying goodbye to Christian, Quinn quickly ran forward and got into the car under Carl's gaze.

Carl waved to Christian and then got into the car. The Maserati drove away in front of Christian.
