Chapter 49 Hoping for a break out of the hell.
"Prepare everything. I'm going to the beach now" Ethan said to one of his bodyguards.
"Sure, sir" the bodyguard said and left.
Ethan began to dress up.
Ursula sat on the bed, already dressed in a short pink flowery gown but not to follow him.
Instead, she was dressed to go visit the garden like it was a very serious occasion.
Ethan turned to her.
"I'm still waiting for your answer. Do you enjoy the fact that you're keeping me waiting?" Ethan asked.
"Fine... I'll help you"
"Is there anything you want in return?"
Ursula looked at him.
What could you ever give me in return? My mother? My childless self? My opportunity to go to school? My dignity?
"Nothing...but I'll help you" Ursula replied.
Why is she not using this opportunity to argue about how much she wants to abort this child? I know it's what she's always tried to do. Is she trying to guilt trip me?
"You know you can just simply ask for whatever it is you want and I'll give it to you...don't you want to abort the child, won't you ask for that?"
"Try this. Stop judging people straight off based on what you assume they'd do and try asking them for once, what they truly want to do" Ursula replied, smartly, leaving Ethan impressed.
He sighed.
"Okay...so, where do we start?" Ethan asked.
"A journal. You should keep a journal, a new one, not the old one"
"I want us...I mean..what if we keep a journal together? Since, you said I should learn to know what you want instead of just judging you"
"I wasn't talking about me precisely. I meant everyone in general"
"Well, you're one of everyone and I could start with you to learn especially learn about how my child would be since he or she would definitely have some of your traits"
Ursula didn't know what else to say.
Knock!
"Who's it?" Ethan asked.
"Sir, everything is ready. You can start coming now" one of the bodyguards said, his voice slightly raised.
"I'll be downstairs in a minute" Ethan said.
"Okay, sir"
Ethan walked close to Ursula.
"Do you want to follow me to the beach? We'd get a new journal on the way and start writing while at the beach" Ethan suggested.
"I don't think I want to go anywhere today"
"You said you'd help me, Ursula" his voice lowered.
She exhaled slowly and deeply.
"Okay" she said.
She got up, let him lead the way and followed him as he walked downstairs to the car.
Why am I even helping you? I could say no and you wouldn't do anything to me. I mean I'm pregnant with your child. I could guilt trip you especially since I know your weaknesses yet I don't. Why?
Maids and bodyguards bowed as Ethan and Ursula approached.
Ethan opened the car for Ursula to enter, for the first time.
The servants tried to hide their shock.
Ethan noticed.
When he turned to look inside, Taylor sat there fully dressed and glammed to his very surprise.
"Baby, I have been waiting for you for so long" Taylor said.
Ursula blinked and blinked, as if she was more stunned than Ethan was.
"Please, come in, quickly. I don't want the rain to start before we get there" Taylor continued.
Ursula moved towards the backseat to enter into but when she did, Taylor screamed, causing Ursula to be startled.
"I don't want anyone apart from Ethan to come into the car! I don't want to be with any other person! I'm scared of her! Stay away!"
Ursula moved backwards immediately.
She didn't want to have anything to do with Taylor's problems or to be blamed if Taylor's problems got worse.
She stepped backwards even more.
Ethan gestured that she goes into the car.
"No, thank you. Her mental health matters more than anything else, please" she said.
Taylor began to cry and asked that Etnan gets into the car immediately.
She even shouted.
Ethan, embarrassed, got into the car, watching Ursula.
Taylor grabbed Ethan and pressed a kiss firmly on his cheek.
Ursula looked away and then turned around, walking back into the mansion as the car's engine revved, preparing to move.
She went upstairs, feeling embarrassed and a little bit angry for a reason she didn't even understand.
Why do I feel bad?I know I don't care but why do I care?
She sat on the bed, threw her little bag on the bed and sighed.
Then, her eyes darted to the laptop on the table by the side of the bed.
Temptation.
She opened it and turned it on, her heart beating a little bit faster because it wasn't hers.
It was Ethan's.
It made the usual Windows sound.
She had watched Etnan log into the laptop a few times, so she knew the password and she logged into it.
She searched the web for a law school, checking their academic activities and session.
They were offering admissions but only in the time of September.
She calculated with her fingers.
That was the time she'd give birth to the child in her womb.
It was perfect.
She applied, cleared the tabs, set the website on incognito and logged out of the laptop.
Her phone rang just in time.
She checked it.
Unknown number.
She suspected who it might be.
"Hello?"
"Ursula, it's me Jared. Please, can you listen to me?"
"What is it, Jared? How many times will I have to ask you to st-"
"I have something to show you, Ursula, please, it's something you'd really cherish. Just let me show you, please"
"Why are you doing this to me, Jared?"
"Ursula, after this, if you no longer want to see me again, then I don't have a problem with it. I promise"
Ursula sighed.
"Okay, where am I going to meet you?"
"At the spring waterfall, the place we always used to meet at whenever we wanted time to oursel-"
"Fine... I will be on my way" Ursula responded, cutting him off before he drove her back to memory lane.
Spring Waterfall is a far drive away from here. I guess that's not much of a problem. I need a long drive anyways.
She hung up the call.
I wonder what he wants to give to me.
