Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Beta Tyde went to see Elder Claverton. He is an elderly male and the Alpha Brentwood sage.
A sage is a wise wolf who knows everything.
Beta Tyde hoped Elder Claverton had the answer to his problem.
"It's a pleasure to have you here, Beta Tyde," Elder Claverton greeted him.
"Thank you, and it's always good to see you, Elder Claverton, and also that you're doing well," responded Beta Tyde.
Elder Claverton nodded and beckoned Beta Tyde to sit.
As Beta Tyde did so, Claverton asked, "What problem would you like me to help you with?" seeing the stressful look on his face.
Claverton slowly stroked his white beard while Beta Tyde told him everything. His wrinkled face showed no emotion, whether he was surprised by a wolf finding his fated mate before the full moon or by also being mated to a she-wolf that wasn't fully mature to be sexually involved with her mate.
Hearing Elder Claverton say nothing after he'd told him what had happened to him, Tyde asked, "Has this ever happened to anyone else before?"
His eyes widened when Claverton shook his head.
"I heard about it when I was in my youth, but I thought it was just false news," Elder Claverton said as he paused from stroking his beard.
"But now hearing this from you, the news was indeed true," he continued.
"How could the moon goddess make a mistake like this in giving me a mate so young I won't be able to touch for probably another year?" said Beta Tyde, upset.
"The moon goddess is perfect and can never make any mistake," Elder Claverton rebuked him for speaking lowly about the moon goddess.
"I'm sorry," said Beta Tyde.
"There must be a reason why the moon goddess allowed you to find your fated mate before she turned eighteen, though," Elder Claverton then said.
"What do you think, Elder Claverton, for you're very wise?" retorted Beta Tyde, eager to find out.
Elder Claverton laughed and then said, "Yes, I am very wise, but this answer I'm unable to provide you with. It's for you to find out when the moon goddess is ready to reveal the answer to you."
Beta Tyde dropped backward into his chair, frustrated.
He'd come here hoping to get help, but the wisest man can't even give him the answer.
"I know it's going to be rough for you, for your beastly side will be eager to mark her after finding her," said Elder Claverton.
Beta Tyde shook his head. He was already struggling with his wolf to get to his fated mate and imprint her, but she was too young for him to do so.
Claverton got up and touched him on the right shoulder.
"You're strong enough to resist the urge to imprint your young mate. The moon goddess would never allow you to find her so early if she knew you couldn't."
As Beta Tyde watched him leave, he didn't believe he could.
Remembering how beautiful his fated mate was, he was going to have a hard time keeping his hands away from her, especially when he knew she was his and every single part of her.
