Chapter 68: Implosion

Chapter 68: Implosion
Eleanor
Catherine and I pulled over at the warehouse dripping in red and luxury. One would have thought we were twins. Knox and Anita were happy to see us but I could see one or two muscle tweaks across our guests faces. They dreaded that day but it had finally caught up with them. The day they all had to fall in line and bow down like everyone else who got in a fight with me, the day they had to accept defeat having survived everything they threw at me and hope I wasn’t going to hit back as hard as they did.
“For such a tiny girl you cast such a big shadow”
“Keep underestimating me”
“I should put a bullet between your eyes you crazy bitch”
“Shut up you idiot. You don’t call shots anymore that’s why you showed up with this guy in a suit you government puppet”
Axel zipped it. Not to brag here but his approach was punching his way through everything and it’s probably why he lost the battle. Mine was to think. Okay, now I’m just bragging. Their leader leaned forward in a picture that not only showed confidence but also willingness to negotiate. I really had them by the balls.
“My friends from high places want this solved quickly before it escalates. Now, we can go ahead and growl at each other but at the end of the day that won’t solve anything. We have both crossed each other….”
“You put on the number one list of most wanted criminals for something I didn’t do”
“Oh you pissed?” Jax found his tongue.
“Actually no. You just made my name bigger and gave me access to some of the toughest criminals but yeah that was a low blow”
“There are rules…”
“Enough!” He cut Knox shot by banging on the table.
Who’d have known I would meet the secretary of state in a warehouse discussing crime and whether or not to let him live and destroy his boss? At last I was the criminal I always wanted to be and a part of me knew my parents were proud watching from the other side. Maybe they weren’t.
“Everything that you, we have done to each other was just business. Nothing else. Get over it and let’s move on after all we are business people”
“We don’t do business like you do and next time you interrupt me with your tantrums I’ll punch your teeth down your throat. In these streets you are not the secretary of state you are just another criminal” Knox was pissed and he was acting like a boss he always was.
“Okay. Understood”
Jax and Axel wanted to burst with anger seeing the man they bowed to bow at Knox. I just cracked a smile and fished out a flash drive from my purse.
“How much do you want in exchange for the chimera. My guys can pay anything and we can forget all this happened. You even get a sit on the table. The big boys table”
“I didn’t call this meeting to forgive and forget or work together. Your plan was to privatize crime and am not going to be part of it. You wanted to wipe out the gangs. And in the process you killed my friend”
“I had nothing to do with that”
“Too late to switch sides old man you are art of the bad guys now” Knox shut him down, hopefully he was going to do what was necessary when the time came.
“What do you want?”
“The first mistake you made Mr. Secretary, ooh Mr. fancy suit criminal…” Catherine was hyped almost as if she was patiently waiting for that moment, “…was to think this was about the money”
“Everything is about the money. What was this about?”
“Vengeance” we said in unison looking at each other.
It was at that moment that they realized we weren’t there to negotiate. It was a kill box and I didn’t plan on any of them leaving there alive.
“Which friend did they kill?” Curious Elliot joined the discourse, he was my back up plan.
“Damon Reed”
The gasps behind them said it all. Axel was in trouble I could smell a stench of his fear and see him fidget on the seat.
“But you killed Damon, you’ve been on the run ever since”
“Mr. Secretary please shed some light on that”
“This is bullshit”
“It’s true” the secretary was ready to throw Axel under the bus, “I’m sorry my friend” he said to Axel’s disappointed face.
“This can’t be true” Jax just proved how stupid he was throwing his friendship and jumping in a bed with people he didn’t know what they were capable of.
Elliot and the rest of the blood reapers were curiously waiting for the secret to come out and it made my work easier as I just had to sit there and watch them turn on each other.
“Please, the blood reapers want to know what she is talking about”
“I’m still the Don”
“Shut up Axel” Elliot had that glare of a lion in his eyes. English believed me.
“Damon and his friend got wind of what we were planning…”
“So it’s true you wanted to privatize crime?”
“Yes”
“And the rest of us?” another blood reaper asked.
Silence filled the room, shame was across the faces of all three of them. I hoped the real gang bangers were finally seeing who the enemy was and my plan was to capitalize on that. Open their eyes but not force them to see instead, kill them if they don’t.
“Dead or in jail” Knox saved them the trouble.
“So you killed Damon because he knew way too much?”
“We had Axel do it. We just gave him the army and he gave the order”
“Fuck!” Elliot couldn’t believe it.
The cat was out of the bag and you could think he was ashamed of his actions but Axel had no empathy. It was all an act. Killing his own flesh and blood just proved toe how greedy he was and I was cautious. He took out his gun and pointed it to me, I didn’t flinch because my sniper was ready to take out his hand and in a dramatic turn of events Elliot had his at the back of his head. The cold barrel made his eyes go wide with surprise. Finally he had a test of how betrayal felt like and it wasn’t good.
“My team and I are going to let you guys sort out your differences” Knox took Axel’s gun and gave it to Elliot, “we will wait outside until order is restored. All proof is in that flash drive”
We walked out flanked with our guards in case anyone was stupid enough to shoot us in the back. As promised we waited outside, lying, we armed ourselves to the teeth and waited for the symphony of destruction. As expected it didn’t take so long, when it started Anita made sure all the exits were covered except the main one which was mine and Knox’s. We were waiting to put a bullet in anyone who walked out of there alive especially if they were Jax. Instead it was the secretary who walked out first surrounded with his guards.
“Give me the chimera it will save you a whole lot of trouble”
“You abandoned your friends”
“Our friendship ended when they failed to stop you from getting the chimera”
“Your life ended when you sent the entire law enforcement in my direction”
“It wasn’t my call”
“You suggested it”
I snapped my fingers and his bird was blown to pieces. He was scared, almost peed his pants. Used to bossing his way in the media he thought the streets were his bedroom. He should have listened to Knox.
“Those men you just killed had families”
“You don’t have the moral authority to lecture me. And no I didn’t kill your pilots I just gave them a choice and they chose life”
“You boys can choose life too. We know you’re not law enforcement” Knox started swirling the pot.
“I pay you way too much to listen to this two”
“In movies they say I’ll pay you double huh? Well am not paying shit I’ll just let you live. You can’t put a price on that can’t you?”
Well that didn’t work, the boys maintained their position and he smiled proudly. Took out his walkie talkie.
“Kill them both”
“Why use walkie when they are right behind you”
“He is talking to a sniper dumb ass”
“Oh!” Knox acted surprised, “If this is our last time together I love you babe”
“I love you too. Where’s the bullet? Is he having technical issues or something?”
“Take the damn shot…”
That was our cue to duck and instead of one three shots were taken dr
opping three of his men. He remained with two and he could do the math.
