CHAPTER 36: The Attack

"Avery, please breathe. Jesus breath!" naririnig ko ang boses ang natatarantang boses ni Gaynell sa loob ng safety room kung saan sila dinala ng aking mga tauhan.
"Mommy please. Please breath. Tito nell, you're also bleeding. Help us!" sagunda ng humihinging tulong na boses ni Cameron. "Papa! Uncle Cole, are you there please help Mommy and Uncle Gaynell both of them are bleeding, please!" tila naiiyak na sabi pa nito.
Halos wasakin ko na ang pintuan para lang makuha ang aking mag-iina sa loob. Damn it!
Ilang ikot pa ng number code at saka nagbukas ang pintuan. Nakita kong nakaunan sa mga hita ni Gaynell si Avery habang umaagos din sa mga hita niya ang sariling dugo.
Walang malay si Jade habang putlang-putla na ang nawawalan ng malay na si Gaynell.
Walang boses ang lumabas sa aking bibig maging si Cole ay nanginginig ng pangkuin niya si Gaynell.
"M-may baby! My baby!" paulit ulit niyang sabi rito habang nakahawak sa kanyang tiyan bago nawalan ng malay.
Hindi ko alam kung paano kami nakarating sa hospital at kanya-kanyang emergency room dinala ang dalawang omega.
Sa labas ng emergency room kami naghintay ni Cole habang duguana ng aming nga kamay. Si Cameron ay nagpumilit na sumama at hindi bumitaw sa pagkakahawak ng kamay ng kanyang Mommy.
"Doc, please save my Mommy and my little brothers. Save also Uncle Gaynell's baby. Please do everything you can do," sabi niya na parang may edad na kung magsalita. Hindi ko man lang nakitaan ng takot o bakas ng takot sa kanyang mukha.
"Gaynell is pregnant?" hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Cole at saka nanghihinang napaupo sa upuan. "P-pero paano?" tanong pa niya.
Tinapik-tapik ko ang kanyang balikat.
Naunang lumabas ang attending physician ni Jade. Ayon sa kanya ay ligtas na ang kambal. Nagkaroon ng minor contraction forcing tha babies to move. My kauting bleeding nangyari but both mother and the twins are safe. Ligtas na ang aking mag-ina at pahinga na lang ang kailangan.
Ilang sandali lang ay nagmamadaling lumabas mula sa ER kung saan ipinunta si Gaynell ang isang nurse.
"What happened? Is my wife safe?" nag-aalalang tanong ni Cole.
"I'm sorry I can't answer that. I have to go and get the bags of blood," sagot ng babaeng nurse at pagtakbong iniwan si Cole.
Ilang sandali lang ay bitbit na ng nurse ang ilang ang ng dugo at saka nagmamadaling pumasok sa operating room.
Ilang oras ang dumaan ngunit hindi pa lumalabas ang doctor sa ER. Nagpaparoon at parito na si Cole at hindi mapakali.
"I swear I kill Haize myself," sabi niya ng maupo ito ng ilang sandali at dagli ring tumayo. "I kill him," sabi pa niya.
"Gaynell will be alright. Just pray," sabi ko sa kanya na sinusubukan na pakalmahin siya.
"Mag-ina ko ang nasa loob, bro at nasa panganib," sagot niya.
Maya-maya ay lumabas ang may edad ng doktora. Agad na lumapit si Cole sa kanya at nagtanong.
"The mother is stable now. Halos maubusan na siya ng dugo. It almost endangered his life and the baby which is still two months old. Luckily your baby is strong. It holds itself up until the mother is stable. It's a remarkable baby," nakangiting sabi ng doctor. "I have never encountered a fetus like that."
Nakit kong napaluha sa tuwa si Cole.
"Thank you so much doc," maluha-luha niyang sabi sa matanda.
Tinapik siya ng doktora.
"Please, take good care of them. One more severe trauma and I can't guarantee you their safety," sabi ng doktora.
Tumango si Cole at muli itong nagsalita.
Nakaalis na ang doktor ay naroon pa rin kaming dalawa. Hinihintay naming mailipat sa isang private room ang dalawa. Napagkasunduan naming isang kwarto na lang ang dalawa since masyadong mapusok ang mga kalaban. They are aiming for both of our mates. Tuso si Haize I'm sure siya ang may pakana nito.
"You're grace, can I have a moment with you both?" tanong sa akin ni Pancho, ang police investigator na naatasan na mag-imbestiga sa nangyari sa aking bahay.
"It seems like some expert mercenaries are behind this," sabi niya. "They stole a van from a television channel and used it as an escape vehicle. They must have been hired," sabi pa niya. "Do you know someone who might hold a grudge against you, your grace?"
Umiling ako.
Wala pa akong ibedensyang si Haize ang nasa likod niyon. Why would he hire those bastards to do that job when he has a lot of men to do the job?
"We'll do our best to solve this case, your grace. Will give you the report as soon as possible," magalang na sabi ni Pancho bago ito nagpaalam.
"That bastard is behind all of this," sabi ni Cole sa akin.
"I know. He's using a dirty trick that makes him innocent," sagot ko sa kanya.
"I'll go to the headquarters today. And see if they have new information about Haze. Can you look for Gaynell for me?" sabi ni Cole.
"Leave him to me. And call me after you arrive there. Watch out for ambushes. Haize is eager to eliminate us," sagot ko sa kanya.
"Like hell I would let myself killed when I know I am about to be a father," nakangiting sagot niya.
"Okay, go now soon-to-be-father," natatawa kong sabi.
Pumasok ako sa kwarto nina Jade. Tulog pa rin si Gaynell habang si Jad ay nakaupo na at pinapanood si Cameron habang nakaupo at nakatingin sa tiyan ni Gaynell.
"What is he doing there?" tanong ko sa kanya bago siya hinalikan sa mga labi.
"He's been sitting there and sometimes he touches Gaynell's stomach. He very reluctant to live his side," sagot ni Jade habang pangiti-ngiting nakatingin kay Cameron.
Nilingon kami ni Cameron.
"Because Zacky told me that he wanted to live because of me," sagot ni Cameron. "He told me to wait for him."
"He? So you know the baby's gender even if he isn't completely developed yet?" amused na tanong ni Jade.
"Yes and he said that he is omega and that we have fated pairs," sagot pa nito. "That's why I know that he will survive."
"Half of our house was destroyed," sabi ko kay Jade. "It seems like they were targeting you and Gaynell. My men did a great job but I also lost a lot of them," sabi ko pa.
Nakita kong lumungkot ang mukha ni Jade.
"Can we at least make sure that their families are okay? Like sending them some money?" tanong niya.
"All of my men are single and Betas. Betas don't mate but yes, my secretary made sure that their parents are well taken care of," sagot ko sa kanya.
"Why is Haize after you? Did you do something unforgivable to him?" tanong niya.
"No I don't remember," sagot ko sa kanya. "But if he succeeded in kidnapping you, I would chase no matter what," sabi ko pa.
After three days, inuwi namin ni Cole ang aming mates sa isang sikretong property sa Bree na pag-aari ni Cole.
"What did you find?" tanong ko kay Cole habang hinahayaan naming namimili ng bibilhing damit pang baby sina Gaynell at Jade online gamit ang ibang account for their safety.
Nasa labas kami ng bahay at malayo sa kanila.
"Haize isn't the leader of Haze anymore," sabi niya.
"Huh?" hindi ako makapaniwala sa sinabi niya. "Isn't Haze is the group behind some assassination of royals in the part of the globe?" tanong ko.
"It wasn't them. Our team traced down their beginnings. When Achilles' name appeared in their history, they found out that Achilles is the one who built Haze. Their group is supposed to help those severed bonds of fated mates when one of them is dead. He funded rehabilitation centers around the globe. And when he died due to complicated heart disease, Haize became their leader. Most of the original members of that group left. Haze has been dissolved a long time ago. And all of their assets are now owned by a secret group called Kaizen. This is the group that secretly operated under the name Haze. This is the group that Haize built and currently doing business in some Mafia including Lemuel. And also they track down the reason why Haize wanted to end the monarchy leadership around the world," sabi niya.
"What is it?" tanong ko sa kanya. I've been curious why he suddenly hates the Royals when he himself belongs to royal blood as well.
"It was during high school when he join the expanding of territories on an island back when both of you are still in high school," sabi pa niya sabay bigay ng files na kinuha niya sa kanyang backpack. "These are the files that the research team found in one of Haze's oldest headquarters. That's Haize's file."
Binuksan ko iyon at nakita ko ang picture ni Haize noong high school pa ito. It wasn't the same Haize I knew back before we went to that joint expansion. He's two sapphire blue eyes are dead. He had eye bags and he really looked stressed.
According to his files, he found his mate on that deserted island but that omega hated him so much. The bombings killed his mate's family and their house and in the end, his mate was also killed shortly.
Napatingin ako kay Cole.
"He was in the Haze's headquarters and Achilles personally tried to treat him for the whole month. And when Achilles thought that Haize is fine to go back to his family, he let him go," sabi ni Cole. "He wasn't abducted like the news that his father said."
Hindi ako nakaimik. Haize found his mate on that island only to be killed by our men? Bigla bang nanlamig ang aking katawan.
"That explains why he hated the royals. And why did he decline the crown that was supposed to be his," sabi ko.
"And that's why he wanted to get into you," said Cole. "You were there with him, wasn't it?"
"Yes but we went our separate ways. We're in the north and his team is in the south. Both of us, his men and mine are well aware that there is no human inhabiting that island. Kung alam naming meron, that expansion wouldn't be possible," sagot ko sa kanya.
Hindi nakaimik si Cole. Now the reason Haize changed was that that joint expansion killed his mate accidentally. And I'm scared now that I know the reason why he targeting me.
