Chapter 77 - Fated to the cursed Alpha

A loud bang woke me from my sleep. I sat up in bed wiping the sleep from my eyes as I looked around the room. It couldn't be too late, I felt as though I had only been asleep for ten minutes.

“Kane” I whispered, trying to wake him, I eyed everything around the room and it all looked fine.

“Ka...” I called out to him again, this time I looked beside me to see he wasn't there. I should have known really. The fact I sat up easily was the first sign. He is usually sprawled out on top of me, I always have to push him off of me just to go pee.

There it was again, another bang, it was definitely on the door. Another bang, the door began to shake, was someone trying to get in? I got up cautiously and walked across the room. Reaching for the handle I pulled open the door in one swift motion.

There stood the one and only Kane, struggling with two separate trays, an array of cooked meats fresh fruit and juices all set out neatly.

“Sorry I thought you were asleep, I wanted to bring you breakfast in bed” He smiled holding out the tray, looking extremely proud of himself.

“I was asleep, but the sound of king kong trying to break into the room woke me up” I joked. I could tell it maybe wasn't the best thing to joke about as the smile began to fade from his face.

“But luckily King Kong brought food, and I am starving!” I smiled widely. Taking the tray from him looking over all the food. “Thankyou, this all looks delicious” I hummed, I hadn't realised how hungry I was until now.

He was soon back to his happy cheery self as soon as I started eating.

I noticed he was not eating, he was just sitting watching me. “Eat,” I said pushing the tray so it was between us.

He shook his head, “No this is all for you, I ate while I was cooking” He sounded strange when he said the last part.

“You cooked this?” I asked holding up the piece of bacon. I never thought much of it before as he usually gets either Blair or Kala to cook for him, this man is useless in the Kitchen.

“Yeah” He nodded.

“Nobody else helped?” I asked curiously.

He shook his head “Nope, the Alpha is officially growing up, Fathers need to be able to cook for their family aswel you know, I don't want you tied to the kitchen once he's born” Kane smiled. It was a different kind of smile, one that suited him, I liked it.

I focused on his mouth, he had a strange black dot on the corner of his mouth, I suddenly got the scent of burnt ash. I laughed to myself, I knew why he was soo full!

“How much did you burn?” I asked him playfully.

“Not much” He shrugged, looking around the room, avoiding any eye contact with me.

“That's why your full isn't it, you ate everything that was overcooked” I tried to hold back my laugh.

He rolled his eyes as he turned his head back to face me. “Well it's a waste if I hadn't, nobody else was up to help so it was either that or let yours go cold while I tried cooking mine” He folded his arms over his chest like a small child would.

I pushed the tray away and climbed onto his lap, wrapping my arms around his neck, “That is soo romantic, thankyou!” I kissed him, the taste of burnt bacon filled my mouth. “How about next time we cook breakfast together” I rubbed my nose against his.

“Agreed!” He exhaled loudly, “At least then I can blame you for the mess” He grinned. “Kala's going to kill me when she sees it”

I rolled my eyes at him, climbing off of him, I headed straight back to the food. “How is the little one today?” He rubbed my belly.

“Hungry” I spoke as I shoved some fresh melon into my mouth. Kane laughed from beside me, “I think you should go brush your teeth, get rid of the charcoal you've consumed while I finish this then we should go tackle the kitchen together before your sister kills you”

“Agreed!” he patted my knee as he got up and headed straight for the bathroom. “But I will clean you can just sit, tell me where everything goes” he looked back and laughed. I shook my head at him, it still amazes me how clueless he is about his own kitchen.

It had been over an hour I had sat here and directed Kane to the correct cupboards. The kitchen wasn't that bad, by the looks of it he used every single pot and pan in this house. And I had no idea how that was even possible.

Just as he was putting away the last of the cutlery away inside the drawer I heard the voices from the rest of the family walking down the stairs.

They all walked into the kitchen and looked in amazement at Kane putting things away, a tea towel draped over his shoulder. “Ok, I think I've just walked into a parallel universe,” Kala said sarcastically.

“No, It's happening alright” Ryder mused as he smirked taking out his phone from his pocket he held it up taking a photo.

“Very funny!” Kane took the towel from his shoulder and threw it at Ryder.

Everyone began to laugh just as Kane's Phone began to ring. He pulled it from his pocket and looked at the screen. “About time!” He sighed, walking out of the room to answer it.

“congratulations Mumma, you're carrying precious cargo now!” Ryder said excitedly as he came and sat beside me, patting my back as he did so.

“I presume Kane knows now!” Blair asked.

“Yeah I told him last night” I confirmed.

“That would explain the Mrs Doubtfire act” Ryder laughed.

“No, he has been perfect!” I said, and he really had, I couldn't have asked for a more supportive loving mate right now.

“We need to get going” Kane called out to me as he walked back into the room.

“Congratulations man!” Ansel said as he pulled him into a manly hug, both men patting one another's backs.

Kane thanked everyone as they all congratulated him one at a time, The girls all hugged me again but both men kept their distance, it wasn't like Ryder, he has always been a hugger.

“Where are we going?” I asked Kane the first moment I could.

“Doc called, she can see you this morning, make sure everything is OK.” He really was on top of things this morning. With everything going on, I hadn't even had a chance to ring her to book an appointment.

“OK, sounds good!” I smiled, jumping up from my seat and headed towards him.

“Let us know how things go. We are going to go back down and have a bit more fun with our guest downstairs” Ansel said smiling at Ryder.

We made it to the docs office, The receptionist guided us to a large room where a bed was already set up for me. I kicked off my shoes about to hop on when Kane's hands suddenly appeared under my armpits lifting me with ease on top it.

“Thanks” I smiled.

I took the spare few minutes we had just to look around. I was insanely white like I wasn't sure if I should strip before I entered the room in case I dropped a thread from my clothing or a loose hair. The smell of disinfectant lingered in the air, it made me quite queasy. I exhaled as I pushed myself back, making myself comfortable in on the bed.

“Alpha, Luna it's good to see you” Adele chimed as she walked through the door. We both smiled and greeted her, Adele was a lovely woman, kind and gentle. I always called her Adele but everyone else in the pack just called her Doc.

“I hear congratulations are in order” she beamed as she came and sat next to the bed beside me.

“They are indeed” Kane said taking a hold of my hand.

“Ok, well since this is the first pregnancy check-up I just need to get some bloods from you, then we can see if we can see anything on the monitor yet,” She said as she began opening drawers and pulling out different various items.

“What do you mean if we can see anything on the monitor?” Kane asked her.

She turned placing a tiny bowl next to me on the bed, “Sometimes it can be too early to see anything, but you may be lucky, with both of you being Alpha's it's usually possible to see Alpha pups quite early. They tend to grow at an amazing rate, depending on the strength of the foetus” She smiled as she stood taking my arm, I looked away towards Kane, I never did like needles.

“Ok, small scratch!” she said softly but I didn't feel a thing, a short moment passed before I felt her move. “There we go all done, I can have these results back to you in a couple of days” She began writing something on each bottle.

“Thankyou,” Both Kane and I said at the same time.

She pushed away the stack of drawers she had in front of her moving another piece of equipment in its place. “What's that?” I asked her nervously.

“Nothing to be worried about Luna, This is Hopefully where you will see your baby shortly” She smiled pointing up to the big screen. Adele went on further explaining how the machine worked and warned me about the cold gel she needed to use. “So do you have any idea how far along you are?”

I shook my head “I don't, is that going to be a problem?” I asked.

“Not at all, I was going to compare it to the dates I get from your scan that's all, let's begin shall we?” She asked us, we both nodded as I lifted my top, she tucked some tissue into the top of my trousers.

Suddenly I heard the pop of a cap, I knew this was the cold gel she warned me about. I giggled slightly at the strange sensation “It is cold!” I agreed with her, I felt Kane's hand tighten around mine as we both watched the screen silently, she started moving and sliding the transductor as she called it around my lower abdomen.

“Here we go!” She smiled pointing up at the screen.

It looked different to what I thought it was going to, I didn't think it was going to look so real, even though it was in black and white I could still make out the arms and legs. “Well the heartbeat is certainly a strong one, you're definitely going to have a fighter” we all laughed as it looked like it was stretching its legs moving all over the place then stopped and suddenly threw a punch.

“So it looks like your about 8weeks” she hummed as she continued to look at the screen. “your uterus is very thick which is very good for an Alpha pup, they tend to be very strong”

She packed the monitor away and turned to us, “I expect this pregnancy to only last about 6 months. Alpha's carry a lot quicker than a normal wolf, you may not be showing much at the moment but expect to start growing at great speed very soon Luna” I nodded, I knew Alpha's don't carry for the full 9 months but hearing it out loud, and how quickly things can escalate was quite worrying.

“Is there anything I can do?” Kane asked her.

She nodded, “Make her rest, especially when the baby starts moving, as her bump begins to grow it will start to become uncomfortable for her.”

Kane nodded, I could see it in his eyes, the worry. “I'll be ok, don't worry” I tried to reassure him.

“Now as much as a blessing this is, I do also have to warn you of the risks, if you become unwell or just don't feel right, ring me immediately. You need to make sure you eat plenty, this little one will be absorbing all the vitamins and goodness your body produces, it will be draining every ounce of energy you have, especially if it's a boy, his gene will be more Dominant being an Alpha” She looked at Kane at that point.

“When will we know if it's a boy or girl” I asked her.

“As long as all goes ok at the lab it will be tomorrow, I can ring the results through to you if you wish”

“Yes, please” I answered her.

She walked across the room to another cupboard “ Your about 8 weeks, so you will start showing very soon, the growth rate usually triples for around now. I need you to take these” She handed me two large bottles. “These are vitamins and iron supplements take one of each a day. I will be staying in contact with you, as soon as you start feeling uncomfortable or in any pain, I'll get you on pain meds ok” She smiled

“When you say pain, how bad are we talking” Adele looked up at Kane cautiously.

“As the baby grows, the strength and power inside of you will be an enormous strain on your body”

“I know you said that, I want to know how bad it can get?” I asked more sternly, I knew she was beating around the bush avoiding my question.

“It's ok Doc, we would rather know, so we can prepare” Kane encouraged.

She inhaled deeply, I could feel how nervous she was, “muscular pain, depending on how the baby sits as it develops we could be facing fractured ribs, pelvis” She looked at Kane wide-eyed in fear as his wolf began to stir, he wasn't happy at the sound of what was to come. “But I intend to do all I can to ensure that doesn't happen, all pregnancies are different. She will be ok” Adele panicked.

“It's ok” I took ahold of both Adele's hand and Kane's. I wasn't sure which one needed reassuring more.

“It's ok, I can do this!”
