Chapter 78 - Fated to the cursed Alpha

We arrived home and showed everyone the pictures of our scan, everyone was betting on the sex of the baby. Ansel, Blair and Kala all thought it was a girl whereas the rest of us were all sure it was going to be a boy.

“How did things go downstairs?” Kane asked the guys as we all sat down with a hit drink.

“Same!” Ryder answeres.

“Yeah, I don't think we will be getting anything else from him, he's a dead weight” Ansel agreed. “Maybe we should just get rid of him” Kane looked at me, it was the very same thing I had said to him earlier this morning in bed.

“Maybe, but I can't help but think he knows more”

“I think your right, but it's going to be hard getting it out of him, no matter what we do, what pain we inflict he doesn't budge,” Ryder said.

“I'll head down there, see if we can get him talking,” Kane said, he nodded to the men and leant down to kiss me.

I moved away slightly “What are you doing? I'm coming with you!” I said, getting up I put my cup in the sink.

“No, you need to stay here and rest,” he said as he moved in front of me blocking my way.

“No, I promised Joshua I would let him see Lydia today”

“Nope, not happening, he was crazy last night, he needs a good 48 hours to calm down,” Kane said sternly.

I folded my arms across my chest, looking up at him, “I'm still going I want to talk to them both” He stood in silence just looking at me for a while. “I either go while your there or I'll wait until you leave and I'll go down there alone your choice!”

Kane sighed, shaking his head, “Fine! But you are not to be left alone with them, do you hear me?”

“of course!” I said in a high pitched voice like it was obvious.

Ansel stayed with me while Kane and Ryder went to Victor. I walked into Joshua's cell with him, he was sitting on the floor at the back of the cell. His clothes were ripped and bloodied. “Oh gosh, Are you ok?” I asked him, rushing to his side to check on him.

“Yes I'm fine, I need to apologise to the Alpha, my behaviour last night was..”

“Stop!” I ordered him, “It was your wolf. He sensed Lydia, she came into heat. That is not your fault. From what I can tell, I think there were several casualties last night, not just you. Her scent spread quite far." I tried to make him feel better but I could tell by his face he was angry with himself.

"Are you still going to let me see her today?" He asked solemnly, still keeping his head down to the floor.

"Yes, I gave you my work and I like to stick to my word". I stood tall in front of him, extending my hand out "Come on!" I ushered him.

"Embry, I don't think this is a very good idea" Ansel whispered to me as Joshua stood up.

"It will be fine, Kane is down here if I need him. Besides, I have you", I smiled at him. He didn't look impressed as I walked past him I led the way out of the cell with Joshua behind me.

I stopped outside Lydia's door turning around to see the anticipation in his eyes. "I need you to remember, she may not be herself, I don't know how long the effects of these magic drinks are going to last. So don't be upset or angry by anything she says"

He nodded "I understand, I just need to know she is ok"

I nodded to Ansel who opened the door for us, Lydia was standing at the back of the cell. She looked visibly upset. We all walked in Joshua rushed to her side "Babe, god I've missed you" he gasped as he hugged her tightly.

"What are you doing!" She screamed, pushing him off of her.

Joshua stumbled back in surprise. "It's me, Joshua, your mate, Baby I'm here to help you", he pleaded.

She looked at him confused, mouthing his name quietly to herself. It was almost as if she knew him but couldn't quite figure out where from.

As if something snapped in her head, she whipped her head to look at me. "Where's Kane?" She snapped, her whole demeanour changed in the split of a second. "You Bitch, you think you can keep me away from him or are you just scared he's actually going realize you're nothing to him and leave you on your ass?" she laughed.

"Kane has no interest in you, if he did he would have been to see you by now", I answered her in a stern tone.

"I need him" She began to cry.

"He's busy right now. How about we talk to Joshua, he's come all this way to see you". I tried to divert her attention back to him.

She looked between the two of us for a moment, slowly she was starting to become panicked. "No, No.....No I don't want to talk to him, I don't even know him. Why are you trying to force me onto another man, I want Kane!" She shouted, knocking Joshua backwards. She came at me. Ansel jumped forward, grabbing her around her waist. He pulled her back and threw her against the wall.

She was quick to get to her feet, Ansel was about to grab her again "Don't leave her!" I ordered, I didn't like to lay orders down but I knew he would have disobeyed if I hadn't used my Alpha tone.

She came back at me. This time I stood my ground, as she reached out for my throat with her claws, I moved to the side. Grabbing her wrist, I twisted her arm up behind her back until I heard a loud crack. She screamed in pain. "Stop....please!" She begged.

I released her, she held onto her shoulder with her good hand, "You Bitch!" She began. I had heard enough, we weren't going to get anywhere with her being erratic like this.

I laughed at her as she threw insult after insult at me. Joshua stood well back, I'm sure he could sense. I was beginning to run out of patience. "I've had enough of this!" I spat, I threw a punch at her landing it straight in the Centre of her face, The loud crack of her nose breaking was enough to make her shut up immediately. she stumbled back, her hands covered her nose as blood spilt between her fingers.

"Well, at least we know now how to get you to shut up" I smiled. I walked towards her but she backed off matching my step until she couldn't go any further. "Sit" I pushed her backwards so she fell onto the camp style bed. "Now listen to me" I ordered as I stood my ground in front of her. "Victor has been giving you potions to make you forget your true mate, he has been pushing you towards Kane for his own selfish needs, Kane doesn't want you, But he does!" I shouted pointing at Joshua. "He is your true mate, you met only days before Victor took you away, you remember your 'special drinks' he was making you take" I air quoted 'special drinks'

"They are to blame for all of this"

She was silent, looking between us all, "I don't remember Victor taking me, I don't remember anything" her eyes began to pool with tears again as she wiped the last of the blood onto her sleeve.

"Lydia, despite what I originally thought of you, knowing what I know now, you have also been through alot. Nobody expects you to remember things straight away, it is going to take time. But I'm afraid you are going to have to stay in here until your better" She nodded, although she didn't say anymore I was unsure of if she believed me or not.

"What's going on in here?" A voice said from behind us. It was Kane. He looked around at each of us one by one. "Ansel, please tell me you are the one that done that to her nose and the blood on Em's knuckles is a figment of my imagination!" he stared at him angrily.

"Ansel protected me when she came at me but I ordered him not to the second time" I answered for him, Ansel's face dropped, knowing he was about to be in a whole lot of trouble.

"The point of having him in there with you is to stop things like that from happening, to protect you!", Kane threw back at me.

"And he did!" I answered.

"Kane, please, this bitch is telling me lies" Lydia began to plead.

Kane went to her at lightning speed, taking hold of her by her throat lifting her. "That piece of shit in the other cell has been the one filling your head with lies not her, she is the Luna of this pack, you will have more respect for her or you will be executed right here on the spot. Do you understand?" He shouted, I looked at his hand that was on her neck, it was covered in blood. The interrogation with Victor didn't go too well I take it.

"I'm sorry, yes Alpha, I won't do it again!" she looked petrified, but she bowed down to him immediately. He dropped her back down to the bed. "Come on that's enough for the day!" He took my hand and tried to pull me out of the cell. Something was telling me I had just seen the answer. Could Kane make her speak?

"No, wait!" I pulled my hand back.

"Em please, I'm not in the mood..."

"Ask her where she was when Victor took her!" I pulled him back to Lydia.

"What? No, Em.." Kane tried to leave again but I pulled him back.

"Trust me please, Ask her" I looked back at Lydia who was against the back wall her knees tucked up to her chest.

"Where were you when Victor took you?" Kane asked her half-heartedly.

She wiped her eyes, trying to contain her sobs. "I don't know, I've already told you I can't remember"

"See" Kane shrugged, "Let's go!" he tried to turn away but I kept hold of his hand.

"Now order her to tell you"

"What? she doesn't know Em, he's fucked her head up" He could tell I wasn't going to be leaving there anytime soon without him at least trying.

"She has had her head turned by you, the potions were about her infatuation with you, you're an Alpha, be forceful, She will listen to you, trust me!" I urged him. I stepped back nodding my head at her.

"Where were you when Victor took you?" He asked her, I could feel the air in the room fall heavy.

"I don't know!" she cried.

He took a fistful of her hair pulling it back so she had to look up at him, there was no other choice. "I order you to Remember, where were you when Victor found you?" He boomed.

"I-I don't" She stopped as her eyes made contact with Kane's a sudden calmness washed over her "I was leaving home"

Kane gasped as he looked back at me in amazement, "How did you know she would do that?" He gasped.

"Just a hunch, I think the potions beginning to wear off she probably needs a couple more days in here to be sure," I put my hand on his arm, letting him know I was ready to head back in the house. I looked at Joshua before I left the room "If Kane can get through to her now, you might be able to when it's all out of her system, you've not lost her yet" I smiled at him.
