Chapter 51 Send them back to America
Cancri looked at Camilla and Danieru, whose eyes had now closed. The couple had been deliberately rendered unconscious by Marcus, and that was also a result of the chip implanted in their bodies.
Marcus had implanted the chip behind their ears, hidden beneath their skin, and it would never be removed. Using the chip on them was clearly very useful. Besides being Cancri's eyes, it could also allow him to control his slaves.
Cancri let out a ragged breath, then grabbed the bottle of wine and took a swig without using a glass. He had been itching to laugh, wanting to celebrate his victory and begin his own action.
"Pain, you've managed to secure a path to cooperation with that old man. Now what do you want to do with these two?" Marcus asked.
"To be my eyes, of course," Cancri replied. The man grinned, looking at Camilla and Danieru alternately.
"You're unusually interested in new people," Marcus said. Marcus knew the Malaike family company was just an ordinary one, and it didn't even have anything particularly interesting to Cancri. He even wondered what made the snake child want the company?
Cancri stared at Marcus. "Do you remember when Ashura was kidnapped?"
Marcus sharpened his gaze. He still didn't know who kidnapped the beloved daughter of the Golden Snake leader. Of course, he remembered that Cancri nearly died while saving Ashura, and fortunately, the man escaped using his cloned body. Ashura's kidnapping also occurred when Ashura was two years old.
"The person who kidnapped Ashura is the same person who kidnapped the only daughter of the Alistair family." Cancri stared at Marcus, knowing the old man would be confused.
"W-What do you mean?" Marcus frowned, now utterly confused.
"The reason Ashura was kidnapped was because she was the sole legitimate heir to the Golden Snake. And the reason Camilla was kidnapped was because Alistair's company used to be a business rival of the Malaike family."
Marcus swallowed hard, clenching his fists tightly. “So, the ones who kidnapped the Princess were the Nine Dragons? Why didn't you say so? You know we all love the Princess very much, and you're keeping us from doing anything to save her.”
Cancri stared blankly. “This is what I hate about all of you. You can't control your emotions when it comes to Ashura.”
“Pain,” Marcus said quietly.
“Calm yourselves, don't let your emotions ruin our plan to help them.” Cancri crossed his arms and looked at Danieru and Camilla.
“Why did you choose the Malaike family company to start this all?” Marcus needed clarity on this; he didn't understand why Cancri would go to all the trouble to launch an attack on that small family.
“Because the Malaike family company is the favorite of one of the Nine Dragons’ leaders.” Cancri stared at Marcus, not really liking the man asking so many questions. He wouldn't take such a big risk; attacking the Nine Dragons directly would be tantamount to suicide.
The Nine Dragons were a group of nine mafia leaders from different groups. They were extremely dangerous, and Cancri didn't want to deal with them openly.
If one person was attacked, the other eight leaders would step forward. He always kept things as harmless as possible for the core family; if he were alone, death wouldn't be a big deal.
The man had been watching Alistair's family for a long time, and he hadn't expected such good fortune to come his way. Without him even initiating it, Camilla had already opened the way for him to connect with her.
"Are you going to use the Golden Snake Elites to help them?" Marcus asked. There was no way their enemies would remain silent, after all... Camilla and Danieru could become parasites to those people in the future.
Danieru would certainly be in danger because he was the rightful heir to the Malaike family fortune. It would be very difficult to control Danieru, whom he knew had a strained relationship with the current Malaike family leader.
As for Camilla, who was virtually free from all threats, she would have to dive deeper into the same mire by marrying Danieru.
"Jay and Hunt will help me keep a close eye on them. All Golden Snake Elites are assigned to the core family, and we must remain vigilant against Roulette, the World Government, and those behind the World Government." Cancri walked into the room, while Marcus continued to stare at Danieru and Camilla.
"Send them back to America. I'll contact Jay to pick them up at the Golden Snake mansion."
Marcus, hearing Cancri's order, didn't want to say anything more. He also had to ensure the two new Golden Snake slaves were safe. He might even come up with ideas for Camilla and Danieru to destroy the Nine Dragons within the Malaike family corporation.
...
Camilla opened her eyes, stared at the ceiling, and fell silent. The place they were in was unfamiliar. This was clearly not the hotel room where she and Danieru had stayed, nor was it the room Cancri had last spoken to her.
The woman shifted, feeling someone beside her. Camilla immediately tilted her head, grateful to have Danieru beside her.
“Doggie... wake up,” Camilla whispered.
Danieru hadn't woken up yet, which worried Camilla. She was afraid something had happened to her husband, afraid of losing the person she had grown close to.
Camilla immediately sat up, swallowing hard. She really didn't see any signs that Danieru would wake up.
“Danieru!” Camilla shook Danieru; she couldn't lose him now.
“Danieru!” Camilla shook Danieru again. This time more roughly, she didn't care how, he had to wake up.
Danieru, who had been awake for a while, opened his eyes and saw Camilla's worried face.
Camilla, seeing Danieru smile, suddenly became irritated. She clenched her fists, furious as Danieru teased her again.
Bugh ...
“Akkhhh... why are you so rude?”
A punch landed squarely on Danieru's left cheek, causing his nose to bleed.
“You really enjoy doing this. Don't you know how worried I am? What if I die of a heart attack?” Camilla glared at Danieru, utterly annoyed that he continued to toy with her.
Danieru wiped the blood from his nose, and he stared at Camilla. “Are you afraid of losing me?”
Camilla looked away.
“Come on, tell me, don't just keep quiet.” Danieru smiled, desperately wanting Camilla to reveal her feelings.
Camilla remained silent, refusing to answer Danieru's question.
“Kitty, are you starting to love me?”
Deg ...
Camilla felt her heart racing again, and she looked at Danieru.
“Does being afraid of losing you mean I love you?” Camilla asked flatly.
Danieru lay back down, staring at the ceiling. Indeed, ever since he woke up, he had been aware that they were in a very unfamiliar place.
“It could be love,” Danieru said softly.
Camilla's pupils dilated. She hadn't expected him to say that, and worse, he was so confident.
“If you mention love again, I'll completely destroy your face.” Camilla chose to move away, getting out of bed, and walking towards the large window, which was still covered with thick curtains.
A few seconds later, Camilla arrived at the window, quickly opened the curtains, and looked out.
The first sight she saw was a high fence and a forest. She took a step back, completely surprised to find herself in such an extraordinary place.
Camilla could see a group of men in black suits, each armed with their own weapons, standing guard. She also noticed a large river flowing in front of the mansion's tall gates, and a large bridge connecting the side of the mansion to the wilderness beyond.
"Actually, where are we...?" Camilla muttered, completely unable to see any way out.
Greb ...
Camilla felt someone hug her from behind, and she swallowed hard.
“I don’t know where this is, but this could be the mafia leader’s mansion,” Danieru said. He seemed calmer; it wouldn’t be good for them to panic too much in a strange place.
“A-are we in America?” Camilla asked.
“I guess so. The man asked us to return as soon as possible, didn’t he?”
Camilla agreed with Danieru’s thoughts and released his arm from around her waist.
Ceklek ...
The sound of the door opening echoed, and the couple turned their gazes toward the entrance. They saw a woman with long, black hair enter, her face utterly beautiful and like a porcelain doll.
“A-ahhh… excuse me. I should have knocked first,” the beautiful woman said.
Camilla and Danieru were at a loss for how to respond. They glanced at each other, unsure of how to react.
“I’m Mrs. Cancri. My son told me that his business partner is staying at this mansion.”
The couple nearly died of shock. If the woman had said she was the mafia leader’s wife, or sister, perhaps they would have understood immediately. But… ah… the woman looked even younger than Camilla.
“Madam…” Danieru swallowed hard, feeling that calling her “Madam” was completely inappropriate. She was so young, and frankly, incredibly beautiful. The man swallowed hard, then continued, "...I was quite shocked. I'm sorry, and well... I'm sorry, too, my wife."
Camilla could see the woman smiling, and she couldn't deny that the woman who claimed to be the mother of the Golden Snake leader was incredibly beautiful.
"It's okay, you're not the first to be shocked. I'm Kim Chaeri Arcelius Snake, I'm seventy years old."
Hearing the woman's age, Camilla and Danieru had to swallow their shock once again. Damn...were they being fooled? When they saw Cancri, they were sure he was the same age as them. But...today, this morning, right now...they had received a severe slap in the face when they heard the confession from the woman named Chaeri.
"Honey, you're surprising a foreigner."
Danieru and Camilla looked back to see a man with long white hair in the same room as them. The man had his arm around the woman's slender waist, not forgetting his sweet smile for the woman named Chaeri.
They both swallowed hard, unsure what to do.
“Noir, I was just welcoming Cancri’s guests. You know your son never knows how to greet guests properly; he even went straight back to Paris without visiting us.”
“I know, we should get out quickly. Ashura, Revilla, and Zivora are starting to make a fuss looking for you.”
Danieru and Camilla remained silent, not daring to speak. One reality after another was making them feel like fools. Knowing about the Snake family, even interacting with its members, was so nerve-wracking.
“Camilla, Danieru,” Chaeri reprimanded.
Danieru and Camilla refocused their gazes. But they felt a chill when they accidentally met Noir's gaze. The man looked intimidating, his gaze cold and piercing, and not to mention his handsome, blank face that the couple couldn't easily describe.
"Once you're ready, the waiter will come and escort you to the dining table. I heard Jay is coming to pick you up."
Camilla swallowed hard. "Okay, thank you... Ma'am."
Danieru knew Camilla found the term "Ma'am" very awkward.
"Excuse me, please enjoy your time." Chaeri, having finished speaking, immediately took Noir's hand, and the woman left the room Camilla and Danieru were occupying.
A few moments passed, and the door closed automatically. Camilla and Danieru looked at each other, then breathed a sigh of relief.
"Do you think the same as me?" Danieru asked.
"Yes... the Golden Snake is indeed interesting and very unique."
"We'd better get ready. I feel like this place is really creepy right now." Danieru stepped toward Camilla, took her hand, and headed toward one of the doors he was sure was the bathroom.
Camilla could only obey, swallowing once more and remaining silent. The Cancri Mansion was truly extraordinary, making her feel like logic no longer mattered.
