Chapter 52 Don't just smile!

Chapter 52 Don't just smile!
After a lengthy exchange of pleasantries with the Snake family, Danieru and Camilla were now in the car. They sat side by side, with a man named Jay nearby.

The couple remained silent, unsure of what to discuss with strangers. They preferred to stare out the window, occasionally feeling the journey was long and boring.

“I never thought that old man would finally meet you,” Jay said.

Danieru stared, not expecting Jay to speak first.

“What do you mean?” Danieru asked, confused. Jay's words struck Danieru as odd. The man's statement made it seem as if Cancri had been having a hard time meeting him, or Camilla for that matter.

“Cancri has been wanting to meet one of you for a long time.” Jay smiled mysteriously. The man then leaned back comfortably and glanced at Danieru, who was still quite shocked.

“Why is he interested in meeting me? If this concerns a collaboration with the family company, then he was wrong to seek me out.” Danieru looked away, truly uninterested in guessing someone's thoughts or intentions at the moment.

The man exhaled slowly and looked back out the window. They weren't even on a busy highway yet; the journey had been long.

Hearing Danieru's answer made Jay smile again. "Cancri doesn't like dealing with poor people. Besides Ashura, money is his most valuable thing, especially after his wife's death."

"Then why does he want to deal with me? I'm poor, and I'll definitely be kicked out soon." Danieru clenched his fists, still not understanding why the man named Cancri would use him as a tool.

Camilla reached out and took Danieru's hand.

"Listen to me," Jay said. He put out the cigarette in his left hand.

Camilla bit her lower lip, eager to hear an explanation about the mafia leader.

"Danieru, you are the rightful heir to the Malaike family company. Cancri knows you have other qualities too. You're smart, talented, and always dependable. The defense of poverty in his dictionary isn't just material things, but also brains. Cancri hates fools, because to him, they won't survive in this world. To him... your father and Hatsu are a bunch of fools." Jay grinned, he was lucky to have known his snake-in-law for a long time.

Danieru, hearing Jay's explanation, clenched his fists. True... he was only now thinking about it. If Cancri really wanted to, he could come to Hatsu at any time and offer them a job with a few small agreements that Hatsu would consider profitable.

Danieru also remembered that the parent company had always seemed to be growing, while the subsidiaries had been stagnant.

"Can you explain the plan that man entrusted to you?" Danieru asked.

Jay smiled meaningfully.

"Don't just smile!" Danieru insisted.

"Our opponents right now aren't just ordinary people. If you want to be victorious, you must know your enemy's form. The first step in this plan is to enter the enemy's lair."

Camilla seemed to understand Jay's words. "You mean to stay in the main house and keep an eye on the surroundings. Am I right?"

"You're a smart woman, no wonder Cancri is increasingly attracted to your husband."

Danieru, listening to his wife's explanation, tried to think. It wasn't that easy for him to get in and out of the main house. Not only would this arouse his father's suspicion, but it would certainly raise questions from several people around him.

"Do you have any ideas, Mr. Jay?" Camilla asked then. If only she or Danieru were thinking, it still wouldn't work.

"Befriend your enemy. Remember... a bedbug hiding in your blanket is worth more than a sniper on a tall building."

Danieru continued to ponder how he could befriend his own enemy. It would certainly be incredibly frustrating, and it wouldn't be that easy for Hatsu or his father to believe.

In this case, anything that makes your enemy happy must also be liked by you. Whoever your enemy's enemy is, they are also your enemy. Being a bedbug isn't as easy as being a sniper.

"Are you still unsure where to start?" Jay asked.

"Mr. Jay, can you explain this plan to us in detail?" Camilla asked. He knew Danieru wouldn't answer; he was deep in thought.

“First, you two should live in the Malaike family's main house. Improve your relationships with each member, then be a good person. This way, you can slowly gain their trust. Make it as natural as possible, pretending you're the important person they'll seek out when they're confused. If they like pigs and you don't, then you should still like pigs. This will help them talk about what they like, and they'll consider you a good friend to discuss things with.” Jay took another drag of his cigarette. The man quickly took a drag and exhaled slowly.

“Then what next?” Danieru asked.

“Once you've done that, you can contact me. I'll explain the next steps.” Jay looked away, reluctant to explain the plan he had in mind. The man exhaled again, and at that moment, the car stopped.

“Then how can we ensure your plan succeeds? If they never liked us, what should we do?” Danieru asked. She glared at Jay, annoyed. There was no way he'd only have one plan to begin their journey to fight over a treasure that wasn't really important to him.

"Even though your father only loves Hatsu, he must have feelings for you too. Hey, kid... do you remember that guy named Noir?" Jay asked.

Camilla was stunned. Why were they talking about a guy named Noir now? Wasn't Noir the father of the Golden Snake leader?

Danieru, hearing Jay's question, didn't answer. He clearly remembered who Noir was. He was the father of the Golden Snake mafia leader, and he was certainly a great man.

"For those new to Cancri, they'll always assume the Snake family is perfect. Noir is the father, and Chaeri is the mother. But there's a crazy truth behind it all. Noir isn't Cancri's biological father; the only thing Noir loves about the Snake family is his wife. Cancri's father is a mutant snake. Although they had a strained relationship since Cancri was little, White Snake once entrusted Cancri with his greatest secret and his weapons business. He believed that a son he didn't even want could be a profitable chess piece. If the incredibly cunning and arrogant White Snake could trust a child he didn't want, what about your father, who was just an ordinary man?" Jay explained at length. He wanted Danieru to be confident in the path she had chosen. Everyone has a pure heart, whether or not it's up to others to find it.

Danieru was completely shocked by what he had just heard. He had always thought his father was the cruelest man, but he never imagined a father could be far, far crueler than his own.

“Mr. Jay, I understand your plan. I will guide Danieru, and I assure you that we will succeed.” Camilla smiled, glancing at Danieru, who was still deep in thought.

“Get off, we've arrived at your mansion.” Jay's voice was very soft, but Camilla and Danieru heard him clearly.

The car door opened, and the two of them quickly got out. They watched as the door closed again, and then the car left them alone.

“Camilla…” Danieru looked up at the still-clear sky. He really had to prepare everything well. What Jay said was true; they had to be able to enter and become friends from their own enemies.

“I will always be there for you, I will be your advisor, and your encouragement. Danieru, you can do it. I believe in you,” Camilla said. The woman immediately stood in front of Danieru, she put her feet up, and kissed Danieru gently on the forehead.

Camilla stopped her actions shortly after, smiling as the man froze.

“Remember, I always believe in you. We’ll prepare everything together, and we’ll face it all together. Danieru, if you can’t get up after falling, remember that I’m here to be your crutch. I’m always with you, because I’m your wife.” After saying that, Camilla took Danieru’s hand and pulled him into their yard.

'Camilla, this attitude of yours makes me fall in love with you even more. I will fight to win, and I will make you say you love me too.'
