Chapter 49 I don't think it's important
Danieru and Marcus had just arrived at the City of Dreams and immediately rushed inside to Cancri's room.
Danieru had remained silent since the incident in the car. He was still holding back the pain in his hand and the anger he felt at being toyed with by the Golden Snake leader's right-hand man.
He glanced around, seeing everyone busy with their own activities. They were either talking or entering and exiting the hotel building.
Marcus, feeling uneasy, immediately looked at Danieru, smiled softly, then took Danieru's hand and led him down the quiet and narrow hotel hallway.
"What's going on?" Danieru asked. He stared intently at the old man, completely displeased that Marcus had so casually pulled him away from the main path.
"We'll get to that room from another path. The main path is useless and only lures reporters to follow us." Marcus resumed his steps, and Danieru couldn't help but follow him.
After a few minutes, Danieru and Marcus finally arrived at the end of the hallway. The place was dimly lit and very quiet. It didn't seem like anyone frequented it, and it might have been a special route.
"This is a special route, only certain people can pass through it."
Marcus's words didn't surprise Danieru; he wasn't particularly interested in what the man had to say.
Meanwhile, Danieru and Marcus were in the elevator, Cancri and Camilla were sitting opposite each other in the room. The two were enjoying drinks, with classical music playing softly from the corner.
Camilla stole a glance at Cancri; he seemed so relaxed, not even intending to touch her. She then glanced at the clock; it was only ten o'clock at night, and she would feel ill in a few hours.
"What do you want?" Cancri asked, suddenly stopping to enjoy his wine.
Camilla, hearing the man's question, stared. "I lost, and I have no right to say what I want."
Cancri grinned. "I'm just giving you a gift."
Camilla didn't understand. She stared at Cancri, and unfortunately, he only smiled. Camilla felt like she was being toyed with. She truly couldn't understand the man before her.
"You can ask anything, and request anything. Except... freedom from me."
Camilla, hearing the man's words, calmed herself. She wanted to ask many questions, and hoped Cancri could answer them all perfectly.
"Who are you, really? Are you really the leader of the Golden Snake mafia?" Camilla asked.
"Yes, I am the leader of the Golden Snake mafia."
Camilla remained silent, feeling both fortunate and unlucky. She took a breath, thinking again about what to ask Cancri.
The slightly dim atmosphere in the room made the situation even more tense for Camilla. Honestly, she was a little scared when she learned who Cancri really was. She felt her life threatened when she learned that Cancri was no ordinary person.
The slightest offense, or wrongdoing, and he could wipe her out. But... she still had to ask many questions, and say what was on her mind.
“Do you know about the Malaike company?” Camilla asked. She was still very curious about the company’s secrets, and she felt compelled to ask.
Although she didn’t want to meet Danieru, she had promised to help him. Camilla glanced at Cancri, seeing the change in expression on his face.
“Sir, is there something wrong with my question?” Camilla asked.
“No.”
Camilla's brief answer left her even more confused. What was wrong with the mafia leader? Why did he seem upset?
"I know about that company, and I'm looking to collaborate with them."
Camilla narrowed her eyes. What could possibly make a mafia leader want a company from a commoner? What was so great about the Malaike family's company?
"But because there was a third party, the company leader refused."
Camilla's pupils dilated. So it was true that someone was supporting the company leader from behind. The woman shifted in her seat, smiling, hoping Cancri would tell her about the third party.
"Can you tell me about this third party, sir?" Camilla asked.
Cancri, hearing Camilla's request, looked up. He smiled, and Camilla looked away.
"I'll tell you, but you have to tell me your reason first. Why do you want to know about that company?"
Camilla didn't know what to say. She was at a loss, not knowing how to explain that she simply wanted to help someone.
“You’re from the Alistair family, aren’t you?” Cancri asked.
“How—”
“Everything I want, I can have in an instant.” Cancri quickly cut Camilla off, and the man stood up. He reached for his long-stemmed glass and took a sip of the wine inside.
Camilla held back her irritation, almost forgetting that the man was a mafia leader. Indeed... whatever he wanted, he could easily get.
“I-I... I’m the wife of the second son of the company leader.” Camilla lowered her head, finally admitting her own status. She hoped Cancri didn’t know about their contractual marriage, and she didn’t expect him to ask for more details about her contractual husband.
“I know, I was just testing you.”
Camilla held her breath for a few seconds, truly at a loss for words. A man named Cancri was incredibly difficult for her to tame, and it was impossible for her to even act arrogantly in front of him.
Cancri stared at Camilla. “But unfortunately, your husband is too stupid.”
Camilla raised her head. What did Cancri know about Danieru?
“How could a legitimate child be inferior to a child born of adultery?”
“Th-there must be a reason,” Camilla muttered.
“Your husband’s grandfather was controlled,” Cancri added.
“Controlled?” Camilla asked in a small voice. She really wanted to know more now, impatient to hear his explanation.
Cancri, hearing Camilla's murmur, nodded. “We'll discuss this further later. I'm waiting for someone, and I hope you'll sit quietly.”
Cancri's words made Camilla feel uncomfortable. She leaned back against the sofa and closed her eyes. She felt extremely tired, and unfortunately, a strange reaction began to take over her body.
“Did you have an argument with your husband?” Cancri asked suddenly.
Camilla opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling. Why was he asking?
“Aren't you going to explain the situation first?” Cancri asked again.
“I don't think it's important,” Camilla replied.
“I don't want to interfere, but your husband must have done it for a reason. I became involved because you were with me a while ago.”
Camilla sat up straight and looked at Cancri. “You had nothing to do with this. It's all my fault, and my husband is probably to blame as well. Mr. Snake, can I go back to my room now? I need to sleep and do something.”
“You're not allowed to leave this room,” Cancri said again.
Camilla, hearing Cancri's words, was truly annoyed. She couldn't show any weakness to him. She also didn't want him to ask her about what was happening in her life.
“Please, I really need to go back to my room.”
“Why? You are my slave, and you must fulfill my every wish.”
“Including serving you in bed?”
Cancri didn't answer; instead, he grinned. He was starting to be intrigued by Camilla's statement, and he was curious about the beautiful woman.
“Why are you silent?” Camilla asked.
“Because your question is so stupid,” Cancri replied.
Camilla, hearing Cancri's answer, was surprised that the man was so quick to call someone stupid. He seemed truly arrogant when he called her stupid.
Camilla looked away, glanced at the door, and saw someone standing there. The person opened the door and then disappeared.
“They’re my men, and they’ve been in this room all along, and some are outside.”
Camilla stared at Cancri. “H-how could I not have seen them all along?”
“Black Dragon works invisibly, and it’s not something you need to pay attention to.”
Camilla held back the words she wanted to say; commenting on everything was pointless. Cancri was no ordinary person; he could do anything, and she’d rather remain silent.
A few seconds later, Camilla heard footsteps. She turned her gaze to the door, and at that moment, she saw an old man, and even more surprising, Danieru with him.
“Camilla,” Danieru said quietly.
Camilla fell silent for a moment, unsure of what to do next.
“Young Master Malaike, we finally meet.” Cancri, knowing the couple had just had an argument, tried to mediate.
“Please sit down, and we'll talk about many things.” Cancri looked at Danieru.
Danieru, seeing Camilla with a strange man, felt a little hurt, and he even ignored the words of the man who had been with his wife. He remained focused on Camilla. This time, he had to control his emotions; this time, he had to get Camilla to forgive him.
Camilla, seeing Danieru's constant staring, felt afraid. She wanted to run, but she felt incapacitated. Her body felt paralyzed, and she couldn't even speak.
“Marcus, let's get out. It's best to settle our marital affairs before we talk about business.”
Marcus, hearing Cancri's words, simply complied. They quickly left the room, giving Danieru and Camilla some privacy.
Danieru ignored Cancri's words; he was focused solely on his wife and wanted to speak to Camilla. The man quickly approached Camilla, glanced back, and was grateful to see the two men also exit and close the door.
