Chapter 24 Mom, what's going on?
Danieru had just finished cleaning himself and looked at Camilla, who was still sleeping and looking so peaceful. He was grateful that the injection he had given her was effective enough to keep her from struggling.
Danieru then walked over to Camilla, placed the towel on the dressing table, and sat on the edge of the bed. He remained silent, contemplating, then remembered some of the events leading up to their wedding.
“Were you also afraid when I kissed you in the boutique?” Danieru asked. He had indeed noticed Camilla’s strange behavior and hadn’t expected her to hide something so crazy behind her back.
Danieru felt quite guilty; perhaps if Camilla weren’t such a strong woman, she would have experienced the same thing as she had moments ago.
“If you don’t like it, I understand. I’m sorry, I did the same thing when we were married.” Danieru still remembered the moment he kissed Camilla, and he was once again grateful that she hadn’t reacted the way she had.
“Can you open up to me a little? Tell me what you want and what you don’t want? Are you trying to get me to find out for myself?” Danieru brought his face closer and lay down beside Camilla.
The woman made him realize that someone was suffering more than he was, and he didn't know what lay ahead, but he hoped Camilla would live well.
Danieru felt compelled to protect Camilla; he couldn't bear to see her suffer. Indeed... he would never allow anyone to hurt Camilla. Camilla's pain was now his, and vice versa.
Danieru took Camilla's hand and placed it on his face. "Your hand is so soft and gentle, but I feel like it's been hurt while struggling to hold on to courage."
Danieru stared at the scar on Camilla's forehead. The man then released her hand and stroked the scar. Danieru's eyes remained fixed on Camilla.
"What exactly are you hiding, Camilla?" Danieru asked again. That scar, how did Camilla get it?
Danieru hugged Camilla and rested her head on his broad chest. The man smiled as he smelled the soothing scent of Camilla's hair. He then closed his eyes, trying to drift off to dreamland.
A few moments later, Danieru fell asleep, embracing Camilla and providing her with warmth.
From the door, someone opened the door and entered slowly. It was Danieru's father, who saw Danieru and Camilla sleeping in each other's arms. Danieru also looked so peaceful with Camilla nearby.
Feeling that his presence would disturb the newlyweds, Mr. Malaike quickly left Danieru's room and closed the door tightly.
Danieru and Camilla were still asleep, so soundly asleep that they didn't even notice the rumbling thunder. Danieru didn't let go of his embrace, and the warmth calmed Camilla. They remained in the same position until morning.
Camilla opened her eyes, feeling someone's hand hugging her tightly. She froze when she heard Danieru's heartbeat. She then lifted her head and saw his handsome face, still sleeping.
'Why don't I feel afraid when you're with me? Is it because I trust you?'
Camilla tried to move, but her body was too weak. She knew Danieru had injected her with the winning drug again, and she knew he wouldn't act rashly and take advantage of a defenseless person.
"Danieru," Camilla said in a very low voice.
Danieru didn't react at all; he was still asleep, and Camilla couldn't wake him. She felt a sharp pain in her stomach, a sharp pain, and her body felt drained of energy.
Camilla's face was pale, and she closed her eyes again as the pain overwhelmed her.
"Danieru... wake up!" Camilla said loudly.
But it was no use; Danieru didn't wake up and kept his eyes closed. Camilla didn't know how to wake him.
A short time later, Camilla heard the door open. She looked up and saw her mother-in-law had just entered.
"Camilla, are you all right?" asked the middle-aged woman. She immediately placed the tray on the table and approached where her son and daughter-in-law were sleeping. The woman felt her bones ache, and her head was incredibly dizzy.
“M-Mom… help me,” Camilla said, enduring the pain that coursed through her body.
“DANIERU!” Mrs. Malaike cried, falling to the floor, her eyes fixed on the bed where they both lay.
Danieru, hearing the loud voice, immediately woke up. He sat up and looked at his mother. “Mother… Mother… what’s going on?”
Mrs. Malaike tried to get to her feet and approached Danieru with a panicked expression. Without further ado, her hand shot out and flew swiftly.
Plak ...
The sound echoed so loudly that Danieru could even feel the pain of his mother's slap.
"I told you! Take care of Camilla, and you fell asleep!" Mrs. Malaike snapped.
Danieru couldn't understand; he had been taking care of Camilla all night.
"Look! Your wife had a miscarriage, and you didn't know!" the middle-aged woman asserted again.
Danieru turned his gaze to Camilla, his eyes widening when he saw the red liquid staining the spot where they lay. The man swallowed hard, immediately standing up and looking at Camilla. His wife's face was so pale, it made Danieru even more worried. Was Camilla really pregnant? Why didn't she tell him?
Without hesitation, Danieru immediately grabbed Camilla's body. He immediately carried her and left the room. The man was thinking only one thing: the hospital... the hospital... and the doctor. He quickly descended the stairs, not even noticing when he passed Rachel, who had just returned from the kitchen.
"Danieru, what's going on?" Hatsu asked.
Danieru didn't care at all; he could only look at Camilla, who was weak and unable to react further.
"Danieru, what's going on?" asked the grandfather, who had just returned from the front yard. The man stood right in front of Danieru, staring at Camilla, who looked extremely weak. His old eyes were closed, staring at the blood staining Camilla's lower body. He wanted to speak, but he couldn't.
"Grandpa, you'd better move aside, I have to go soon."
"What are you two arguing about this early in the morning?" asked Mr. Malaike.
Danieru didn't answer his father's question; he'd rather leave without further ado.
"Danieru, I'll come with you!" Mrs. Malaike said loudly from the stairs. The woman walked as fast as she could, her face puffy, and her eyes still glistening with tears.
"Mom... you'd better stay home, I have to get Camilla back as soon as possible!" Danieru quickly stepped past his stunned grandfather. He was truly worried and had to help Camilla immediately.
As for Camilla, she wanted to speak, but because her voice was soft and the people around her preferred not to listen, she stopped. The woman closed her eyes, truly feeling like she was going crazy.
Hearing her son's answer filled her mother with sadness. She could only pray that her daughter-in-law and her future first grandchild were okay and that there was still hope.
"Mom, what's going on?" Hatsu asked.
Mrs. Malaike lifted her head. "Camilla had a miscarriage, and I was shocked when I saw where she was lying this morning."
