Chapter 23 Why are you so quiet?

Chapter 23 Why are you so quiet?
After a long journey, Camilla, Danieru, and Mrs. Malaike finally arrived at the Malaike family home. The three of them immediately got out and entered the house.

“It’s so quiet,” Camilla said, looking around.

“Well, they probably haven’t returned from the wedding reception yet.” Mrs. Malaike smiled; she had deliberately not attended the wedding or the reception for her eldest son. She loved and cared for Danieru more.

“Won’t that old man be angry?” Danieru asked.

Camilla agreed with her husband’s question, feeling that her very unkind father-in-law might be angry. Camilla could already sense and sense the man’s affection and the way he looked at his two children. It was evident in his facial expressions, his speech, and his body language when he was in her presence.

Camilla clearly remembered when Mr. Malaike mentioned her husband’s name. He seemed reluctant, his facial expression changing, especially his gaze. Things were completely different when he spoke of a man named Hatsu.

For a moment, Camilla stared at Danieru. What had the man meant when he first asked her to marry him? Could she understand it better now? Danieru had once said that the primary reason for their marriage was to seize the inheritance, and now Camilla realized that he wanted to compete with Hatsu.

The woman quickly snapped out of her confused thoughts; she had to clarify this matter without further ado with Danieru. Annoyance had already settled in her heart the first time she met the middle-aged man who would become her father-in-law.

"Go to your room. I'll rest after this too." Mrs. Malaike quickly closed the door, smiling as Camilla and Danieru stood nearby.

"Camilla, the journey was quite long. You should get some rest, and for Danieru, you must take good care of him."

"Okay, I should rest well too. Camilla and I will go to my room. Good night, Mother." Danieru took Camilla's hand; it was time to repay her kindness.

"Good night, sweet dreams." Mrs. Malaike quickly walked away.

After his mother left, Danieru immediately picked up Camilla's body, smiling as she looked at him. "You'll have to pay for what you did earlier."

"Wait, I have something important to discuss with you."

"What's more important is punishing you," Danieru replied.

“Tsk... you should be grateful, my clever mind has already thought of a plan that can be used in the future. I'm not entirely at fault, and I'll actually benefit you.”

Danieru stared, confused. What did the woman mean? She seemed very serious. “What do you want to talk about?”

“Do you know a good place to talk in this house?” Camilla asked back.

“We'll talk about this when we get home, right now I want to pamper my pregnant wife.” Danieru immediately walked towards the stairs, climbing them slowly, holding Camilla even tighter.

“Hug me if you don't want to fall,” he said, even though Camilla didn't need it at all. He smiled as Camilla hugged him, and they continued upstairs.

“Why didn't you bring Mommy to live with you?” Camilla asked.

“I did, but Mommy refused.” Danieru felt relieved when they arrived. He immediately headed to his room and looked at Camilla as he reached the door.

“What's wrong?” Camilla asked quietly.

Danieru immediately brought his face closer and whispered, "Play along with me, and don't argue. I'll explain when we get back."

Camilla nodded and opened the door to Danieru's room. Before Danieru could enter, he kissed her on the lips, and she closed her eyes. The kiss was truly terrifying for Camilla, but for the sake of playing with Danieru, she suppressed her fear. She trembled, tears welling in her eyes, and she was terrified.

‘Her lips are so sweet, try them… you will like them.’

Camilla's heartbeat accelerated, almost unconscious, her body incredibly weak. She was afraid, but she couldn't resist. Her body felt stiff, and she felt chained.

Danieru, understanding Camilla's predicament, quickly broke the kiss. "Don't be afraid, I'm with you."

Camilla gripped his fist tightly, feeling like she was falling further and further. Camilla took a shaky breath, and when she opened her eyes, she met Danieru's gaze.

"Camilla, I won't hurt you," Danieru said. He immediately planted a kiss on his wife's forehead. He understood... the fear, pain, stress, and severe trauma Camilla was experiencing.

Although he didn't know what caused it all, he was certain that Camilla had experienced something very difficult in the past.

Danieru considered for a moment: should he take Camilla to a psychiatrist? Should he do that to make Camilla feel better?

But... would Camilla be willing to do that to recover from this crazy situation? It was impossible for her father-in-law to be unaware of Camilla's fears. He must be keeping a secret, and she needed to reveal it as soon as possible.

Danieru stared deeply at Camilla. She was still crying silently, as before, and he knew that was even more painful. The Camilla who usually irritated him was now adrift on a boundless ocean with large, unrelenting waves.

"Camilla, tomorrow we'll go home." Danieru kissed Camilla's forehead again. He knew she needed true, sincere love to be free. Someone had to save Camilla, and Danieru would do that to free her friend.

"Does this world belong only to you?" asked someone who had been standing nearby for some time.

Danieru, who had been gently kissing Camilla's forehead, stopped. The thoughts that had been dancing in his mind had now fallen asleep, leaving only silence. The questions Danieru had been asking himself retreated in an orderly fashion, settling into a safe place.

The man smiled, then averted his gaze. Hatsu and Rachel. These two had just arrived, and it seemed the annoying old man had also returned to the house.

“Why are you so quiet?” Hatsu asked again.

Danieru stared blankly.

“It’s so rude to be flirting in front of the door and not caring about anyone who might pass by. Is this world yours, that you forget there are other people living nearby?”

“If this world were mine, I wouldn’t accept you in it.” Danieru grinned, then stepped inside.

"Danieru!" the man called.

"You have no right to say my name," Danieru replied. He glanced at Rachel, who remained silent, holding hands with her sister. The man then went deeper and closed the door. He would not be provoked into a fight with the stranger; he would avenge the pain he and his mother had endured.

Danieru, now inside the room, immediately headed for the bed. He laid Camilla's trembling body on the mattress and stared at her.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have kissed you," the man said. He could see Camilla's eyes glistening in the dim light. The woman was truly making him even more curious.

"Da-danieru..." Camilla swallowed hard, staring at the man, hoping Danieru would stay close to her. She felt afraid in an unfamiliar place, especially with so many people who might dislike her and Danieru.

"Hmm?" Danieru stared back.

"I-I... I-I..." Camilla couldn't finish her sentence. She slowly closed her eyes and fell unconscious.

Seeing that Camilla couldn't open her eyes, let alone speak, Danieru immediately got up and turned on the bedroom light. He looked around, not realizing that the room was still the same as when he left and decided never to return. He reached for his phone; he needed to call a doctor to check on Camilla and prepare some victorious injections for her.

Clearly, Danieru didn't want to take revenge for Camilla's confession a few hours ago. He knew his beloved wife was in a bad state.
