Chapter 80 Chapter Eighty

Chapter 80 Chapter Eighty
Keira

I was rather taken aback when Kaelan told me who the spy was. The spy Cassandra talked about. As it turned out, whatever trap it was that Kaelan set out did a perfect job in bringing the spy out of their hiding place.

As he parked his car in the garage, all I could think of was the reason why it had to be this person. No one would ever have suspected this person, not even me. What was I saying… I suspected Lustre, and even confronted her based on only my speculations.

Now that I was proven wrong, I felt quite bad. Geez, I think I am really a bad judge of character.

“What is it?” Kaelan asked as we walked into the castle. I caught sight of Ryan, and Maya standing inside talking to themselves. Maya looked a little bit worried.

I had the perfect excuse not to respond to Kaelan's question. I walked up to the duo. They both bowed. “Greetings, Luna princess.”

I waved casually in response. “What is it?” I turned to Maya. “Did something happen?”

She shook her head. “I am just a little worried the prisoner might harm herself. She keeps acting as if she has gone… berserk.”

I scoffed. “Probably an act.”

“Your highness,” Ryan moved towards Kaelan. His voice was low when he relayed the message. I frowned a little when they moved further away from me.

“Your highness?”

I blinked twice when I realized I was staring at Kaelan as he talked to Ryan. I looked at Maya. “Yes.”

“Would you like to go upstairs, and wait for his highness–”

“No.” I raised my hand up, stopping her midway. “Take me to meet the prisoner instead. I would like to have some discussion with her.”

Maya looked at me doubtfully. “You don't want to question my decision, right?”

“Oh, certainly not your highness. This way please.” She walked ahead of me while I filled behind without taking a look back at Kaelan who I was certain had his eyes on me as I walked away with Maya.

“I will leave you to it then,” Maya said once we arrived at the cell where the prisoner was locked in. It was the same prison as the one Cassandra occupied before her death.

“Sure. Thank you.” My voice barely came out above a murmur.

“You look quite comfortable,” I scrutinized her from head to toe, I subconsciously scrunched my nose at the gross sight. She was hanging spread out with hands and legs cuffed apart. She was covered in her own blood, different cuts of all kinds of sizes designed her body. Her head was hanging loosely, the only thing supporting her face from hitting the ground was the cuffs around her wrists, and ankles.

“Who would have thought the spy we were looking for would turn out to be you, the quiet and beautiful Liyana.” I scoffed. “So much for being a kingmaker.”

She said nothing, neither did she move her head. I dragged out the only chair in the room towards where Liyana was hanging. I sat down, and crossed my legs. “Were you sent to kill him?”

“What business of yours is it?”

“I can see the killing word is all it takes to trigger you,” I chuckled a little. “Interesting.”

“You know, uptill this very moment, even as I am watching you soaked up in your own blood, as a result of all the beatings, and torture session, feeling the sudden different aura you are now emitting, the cold look which had taken over the calm quiet expression you always had on your face, I still find it hard to believe you are the culprit. The one who had been with Kaelan for many years, only with the aim of destroying him, and what was left of Shadowmoon pack.”

She raised her head up. A cold icy look sported her face. “You either believe it, or leave it.” She hissed at me. “And if that was all you came to blab about, you can as well use the door. Some peace, and quiet will go a long way for me.”

“I have no idea you had such a sharp tongue.”

“Well, now you know.” She retorted rather rudely. Oh, I forgot she wouldn't treat me like the Luna princess I was. She was now Kaelan's enemy, our enemy, and no longer Liyana; one of the matchmakers.

“But it's such a pity it isn't what I want to know,” I dropped my leg down, and pushed the chair. My steps were slow as I closed up the little space between us. “What I really want to know is your mission here.”

A snort came from her. “You are not a dolt, why are you suddenly acting like one? Did you not hear I am a spy–”

“It’s not like I would know your mission here simply because you have the spy tag on your head, in this case, you are the dolt.” I stopped walking. “I know you won't talk, and trust me, I won't touch a single hair on your head because it isn't my battle. Kaelan will be here soon, you had better start preparing your words for him.”

“I'd rather die than say a word to you all.”

I chuckled, and leaned forward to her face. She didn't blink. “And yet Cassandra snitched on you guys. I'm sure she must have sworn never to betray the trust you had for her. Alas,” I spread my arms apart. “What happened? She saw she had little or no chance of survival, so she snitched on you all right before I killed her.”

“You don't think I am Cassandra.”

“Oh. I never said that,” I slowly lowered my hands down to my sides. “But who knows, you might say more than her.”

I flashed her a small smile before turning my back on her, and left the room without another word.

With the kind of energy Liyana was emitting, it was obvious it would be hard to crack through the iron shield she built around herself.

But in the end. She would be offered two options… Confess, and receive a lenient punishment, keep to herself, and die a horrible death.
