Chapter 81 Chapter Eighty-One
Chapter 81 Chapter Eighty-One
Kaelan
When I pushed the cell door open, and entered, everywhere was enveloped in a thick cloak of silence. My eyes slowly moved around, they stopped moving when they landed on a rather unconscious Liyana.
I stood there for a minute watching her. Who would have thought the person I was looking for was Liyana. I scoffed. It was quite a good thing I never trusted anyone anyway.
Taking my hands to my back, I walked inside, went straight for the chair a little away from where she was strapped. I dragged it backwards a little, and lowered myself down.
“Pretending to be asleep?”
No response.
I chuckled. “The investigation won't go anywhere if you choose to pretend to be asleep.”
“Allow me to die already.” She interrupted me almost in a bored voice.
“Death?” I scoffed. “You don't fail to amuse me, Liyana.”
“It is something you can do,” She started saying, “Have you forgotten, you are the Alpha of Shadowmoon pack, the man who doesn't hesitate to kill anyone who dares to stir up trouble in his abode.”
“Funny. It's actually funny how you think you still have the right to make such a decision?” I raised my head up to meet her face. “You lost that right the moment you joined hands with those people against me.” My voice was calm, a sharp contrast to the raging tornado inside of me.
“Learn to phrase your words well, Alpha Kaelan.” She hissed. “Saying I joined hands with them would make me look like a betrayer which I am not. I have always been with them,”
“I hate myself so much that I never seemed to notice anything off about you.”
A snort left her. “You wouldn't have because I never left any loose ends for you to sniff out, it would have been a tarnish to my image if you have caught on earlier on than you should.”
“So, now is the best time for me to find out about your identity?” I didn't wait for her response before I continued. “Are you saying my trap wasn't really necessary as you were going to show yourself anyway?”
“Exactly. Your brain is still functioning well.”
“So… who exactly was the brain behind your every move?”
“Now, it won't be fun if I tell you right away, right?”
“Of course it wouldn't be.” I relaxed my back into the chair. “So, why not be obedient, and start talking before I grant your wish.”
She looked away with a scoff. “It’s not like you can kill me right away–”
“Are you suddenly scared of dying?” I cut her off. A hunt of mockery laced my voice. “And who said I can't?” My voice was filled with scorn. “Do you think I can't end your life right here and now simply because I want some information from you?” I chuckled.
Without taking my gaze off her face, I stood up, and walked up to her. She groaned when I gripped her hard by the chin, and forced her face to look at me. She made an attempt to look away, but a strong press of my index fingers to the side of her chin forced her to have a quick change of mind.
“Then kill me already.” She groaned.
“You sure know how to piss me off Liyana.” I let go of her chin, but didn't move away. “Very well then, how about we start talking business now? You know me, I am not one who indulges in chitchat with my prisoners.”
“Don’t waste your energy, you won't get anything from me. All I know is that it's going to be fun watching you all go down. Your bride included.”
My head snapped up immediately. “The fuck did you just say?” I growled. “If you dare to fucking touch a strand of hair on my wife's body, I swear, I will fucking bestowed upon you a horrible ascension to hell.”
She laughed. “Who would have thought our dear Alpha king will be so protective, just all the more reason why she should be harmed. Anyone who is affiliated with you must die.”
“Really?” A small wicked smile took over my face. “If that were to be the case, how about I start the party by killing you first?” I wrapped my right hand around her neck, and gripped it tight. “Afterall, you seem rather too loyal to whomever your boss is, too bad he won't get to see you again.”
“What are you waiting for then, go on, snap the neck.” She said. “Or can't you?” Mockery laced her voice.
I said nothing, instead I continued pressing down on her neck making it almost impossible for her to breath yet she didn't show even the slightest discomfort.
“No,” I said, and dropped my hand down from her neck. “Because I don't plan to give you a lenient death anymore, a horrible one befits you more.”
“I’m not afraid anyway, go on and do whatever you like. Kaelan.”
“It’s nice for once not to hear you fake out your respect towards me.”
A guttural growl rose up her throat when I landed a sudden punch on her stomach. She sent her head backwards, and groaned loudly. I landed another punch, and she yelped out.
“This is no fun at all, Kaelan.” She let out a painful chuckle. “You seem to be holding back which is totally unlike you. What happened to the ruthless Alpha who doesn't take it lightly with spies and people whom he claims betrayed him? I'd hate to think this is all you've got.”
Her last words ended with a shout from her. Courtesy of another punch on her stomach. She spat out blood. “Is that all you've got?”
I raised a hand up, but stopped midway when my phone vibrated. Shoot. I forgot to keep it away before coming to the cell. I honestly hated disturbance when I was torturing or taking someone's life.
“You might want to take that.” Liyana's mocking voice came. I sent a glare her way without uttering a word.
“Heaven help you if it isn't something important that warrants disturbing my torture session.”
“Don’t worry your highness,” Ryan's voice boomed from the other end. “It is something quite interesting.” He added.
“Start talking then.” I snapped out.
“Liyana is in connection with that person.” He finally said.
“What?” I turned around sharply. My gaze was fixed on Liyana. “Are you sure about this?” I looked away.
“I am certain, Alpha king. I think you should step outside for a moment. I will be waiting at the training grounds.”
I hung up without replying. Without sparing Liyana another glance, I walked out.
