Chapter 71 Chapter Seventy-One
Chapter 71 Chapter Seventy-One
Keira
“How about this dress, Alpha Keira?” A voice said, and I turned my head away from the long shimmering, and attractive gown hanging two racks away from where I was standing.
“Uhm,” I rolled my tongue about inside my mouth, wondering if I should go for the one in the attendant's hand, or the one hanging behind me.
The dress was a short black gown which stopped above the knee area. Around the tip, beautiful white pearls adorned it. My eyes trailed up, it was a v-neck handles gown. The designs were simple yet classy unlike the green gown behind me which I realized was quite too bold.
I nodded in satisfaction. I reached out for the cloth, running a finger lightly on it. “It's okay.” A befitting dress for an Alpha. “I will take this one.”
“Yes, Alpha Keira.” She bowed a little. She turned to leave when I stopped her. She looked at me.
“I will check around, and see if I want any other dresses. After that, you can package them all for me.”
“Sure. I can do that, take your time. Whatever you pick, the cost has already been covered, so don't worry about the payment.” She added with a smile before disappearing behind the racks of neatly arranged dresses.
As I walked, eyes scanning the dresses, my mind wandered to this morning when Kaelan called me requesting he wanted to come to Mooncrest pack. I found it rather odd that he first called to let me know he was coming when most out all the times he's ever been here, he simply just appeared however he wished.
What I found the most odd was when he asked that I dress, and make myself up. I want to believe he was taking me out on a date.
I was so engrossed in my own thoughts, that I didn't realize I was holding on a little too hard to a dress, neither did I realize a fight was taking place downstairs.
A loud sound of. a hand hitting someone followed by the sound of an agonized scream forced me to blink away from my thoughts.
Whatever was wrong? Can't the managers handle their workers well? What was with the ruckus?” I wondered as I walked in the direction where the slap had come from.
Just before I reached where a small gathering was, another slap landed on probably the same person who was hit the first time.
“Let go of this dress immediately.” I stopped on my tracks immediately. That voice.
I knew that voice. Rena?
What was she doing here? Driving several hours to come to my pack to shop for dresses. Just wow.
I was beginning to love this. Folding my hands behind me, leisure steps took me to where they were. Rena stood in the middle of the gathering, her hand was gripping the attendant who took my dress arm tight, a glare sported her face. She looked like she was ready to kill.
I cleared my throat. All eyes turned to me. “What is going on here?” I looked a the attendant whose eyes were glistening with unshed tears. “I think you should explain to me.” Her mouth fell open. I shook my head. “Not you, my darling.” I looked away, turning towards Rena. “I meant you.”
Considering how she didn't react, I guess she was yet to recognize me.
“I don't think that's necessary, but let me just save her the stress of talking. That dress...” She pointed towards the receptionist Island.
I turned. Oh, was my gown the reason behind this little gathering? This was going to be interesting.
“Did she not tell you the dress has already been bought?” I asked, looking carefully from her to the attendant.
“She did, but I still insist I want this particular one, can't you see how pretty it looks?”
I chuckled. “Of course, and that was why it was bought by the person who came before you. So I'd advise you to let go of it, and go pick another dress instead.” I gestured around. “There are so much beautiful dresses here, let go of the attendant's arm already before you turn this into a serious matter.”
“It was clearly a waste of my time talking to you,” She hissed. “Let the person who bought the dress come down so we'd negotiate.”
“And how much are you willing to pay to the new owner to give up such a beautiful dress to you?”
She turned to me, a scornful look adorned her face. Looking more closely, I was certain if she wasn't his fated mate, Aiden wouldn't have gone for her at all. Maybe, I can no longer see through her beauty because of the hate I now harbor for her, and her idiotic mate. “What business of yours is it concerning the amount I want to give up? Just go about your business already.”
“It is my business because,” I took a step closer to her. “Because I am the owner of the dress. Let go of the girl, and grab my arm instead. I think that is what you should do instead.”
She let go at once. “Well, so what do you say, how much do you want to give up the dress?” She asked. A sense of pride tainted her voice.
“If you will do me the favor of leaving this boutique at once, I will be glad.”
“What?”
“I am sure you didn't just develop selective deafness.” I said with a small smile. “I said you should leave.”
“Who the fuck do you think you are to dare oder me around? Do you want me to request for your head?”
“I?” I turned my head sideways to the right, then left. “I don't know which to say among the two, how about you manage this; I am someone you should never mess with. Regarding the second question,” I added another step towards her. “I think that should be my line, not yours. So you had better leave now while I ask nicely.”
“I would but only after I have that dress. It is yours, but I must have it. You see, I was trying to be generous, it's obvious you hate generosity. How about we do it the hard way then.”
I watched her in total amusement as she advanced towards me, she reached for my throat, gripping it hard. “Tell her to give the cloth to me.”
I said nothing, instead, I simply smiled despite her palm which continued to tighten against my neck, making it quite a different chore to breathe. At that moment, all I wanted to do was strangle her to death, but I couldn't. In my case, if I wanted to deal with her, I should first allow her think she was the queen in charge.
“Please.” I gasped. “I can't breathe,” I hit her hand with all of my might, trying to make it look real. “Let go of my neck,” I coughed. “Then we will talk.”
She looked at me with doubt, when she saw I was looking like one who'd lose consciousness anytime soon, she let go of my neck. The attendant rushed to me, holding me from falling. “Alpha–”
“Hey,” I shushed her up with a look. “Don't.” I added, and she nodded signalling she understood.
“So...?”
“That was indeed a real show of prowess,” I cleared my throat a little. “You deserve an applause, or don't you agree.”
“You bitch.” She half yelled.
“Hey, hey. Don't think of doing anything stupid.”
I was quite a crazy fella to think she would stop. “How dare you make a fool out of me.”
I was expecting it, but I didn't expect she'd still continue to behave foolish. I held my face where she slapped me. “And you slapped me.” It wasn't a question, but she answered.
“Yes. Because of a mere dress, you dared to make a fool out of me. For me, that slap isn't enough. She raised her hand to hit me again.
She must be a total dummy if she thought I would let her touch my face again. While my left hand held her hand midway in the air, my right hand landed many times on her face not minding her loud shrieks.
“Now, we are more than even.” I let go of her, looked at the attendant. “I lost my interest to take any other dress, just package the one I picked.”
While the attendant did as I asked, I focused my attention on straightening my clothes out.
Few minutes later, and I was ready to leave. But Rena just decided to be a pain in my neck. She walked up to my front. “Are you done crying?”
She ignored me. “Don't you think you should apologize for hitting me?”
“I won't. If it hurts your pride, then,” I leaned a little close to her. “Do your worst.”
“You–” Her face lost its color. “I will fucking kill you.”
I winced at her ridiculous yells. Whatever did Aiden see in her? Oh, right, they were mates... Fated mates. “Try if you can.” I made sure I maintained the smile on my face.
“Who dares to touch the Alpha of Mooncrest pack, and wife to the Alpha king of Shadowmoon pack?”
All heads turned, except for mine.
