MEETING AGAIN
MEETING AGAIN
Chapter 76
Alessia's pov
Silence travelled across the room, giving me a required space to process the situation that had just taken place.
‘Well, maybe if you hadn't chicken out like a creepy thief, he wouldn't have tried going in search of you.’ I rephrased through Annalise's words in my head.
I couldn't understand the logic behind her statement— if she was only making a mockery of the situation or a valid reality laid behind it.
‘‘What are you talking about?’’ Annalise disrupted the prolonging silence, turning to face Thompson.
“He went out in search of Alessia?’’ Thompson asked, choosing to take the second instance of my thoughts.
Annalise hesitated but eventually spoke.
“What other explanation is there to give to it aside that he went missing with her?’’ She blurted out.
I couldn't believe my ears, indeed she was going to mock the situation!
“Is this all a joke to you?’’ The words wept off my lips, accompanied by a striking force that propelled my frame towards her, ready to send a condescending slap upon her miserable face.
“Alessia!’’ Thompson's voice held me back.
“This bitch did it. She let Adrian leave the house so she could paint it on my face.’’ I told him.
“You're the bitch. You are a bitch for leaving your son while you ran away. If you loved him enough like you always claimed, you'd never have left him.’’ Annalise spat back.
“A search is being held.’’ Thompson intervened before any other words came from either of us again.
“He will be found in no time. I trust he is still alive and that is what I think matters the most. He'll be found.’’
I sauntered around my bedroom restlessly. Thompson's words of assurance remained the pillar I leaned on all the whole, but it was getting close to nighttime and there still hadn't been any news about Adrian. Would we have to add another day to the count of hours he's gone missing for?
I was beginning to lose.
Fine, Adrian could be alive. But what if he was alive and suffering? What if he's being locked up somewhere and getting mistreated?
I couldn't keep still. I needed to get my ass out there and find him myself.
I stormed out crazily, rushing down to the exit. I'd go into the bushes and swim the lakes, whatever it takes to find him before nightfall.
My heels went limb instantly as I approached the door, ditto to my heartbeats, when a familiar hoarse voice reached my hearing from outside.
“I can't believe you have the effrontery to show up here after everything you and your miserable followers have done.’’ Thompson spat in nothing but spite.
“And why not?’’
My heart dropped heavily into the pit of my chest. I could picture a smirk on his adorable seductive face. I'd missed him so much and only realising it now after hearing his voice again.
I gripped against the wall for support, doing my best to avoid making any sounds that'd attract suspicions my way.
“You disgust me.” Thompson spat.
It wasn't disgust in his voice, it was pure rage and resentment.
‘‘I got news of her return. Don't make me stay too long, get her to me.’’ Cyril sprinted out.
I choked on my spit, grasped my mouth in a tight grip and scurried away from the door before I released a cough and blew up my covers.
My chest heaved, my heart hurting from the severe pumps it released.
He was here because of me? Had he also been involved in searching around for me over the past days of my leave?
‘‘I know she's in here. If you'd really love to hear what I have to say, get her out.’’ Cyril’s voice echoed within the walls of the house, leaving my frame in an icy still.
“And who said you could just walk into my house like that?’’ Thompson yelled after him, completely cheesed off. I could picture his scowling face.
What was Cyril yapping about, does whatever he had to say have any good to do to me? Only then may I consider stepping out of this toilet.
“I can smell you closeby. Show yourself, Alessia.’’ Cyril voiced out of the blues, sending congealing waves across my heart in a split.
“Come out already.’’ He called out again after a long moment of silence.
“Why wasn't Thompson saying anything? Was he perharps hoping I'd step out step out now?
He leaves me no choice by his silence.
I slowly pushed my legs to the door, and my heart almost melted to liquid as I swung the door open with a noisy creaky sound following it's movement.
I couldn't dare meet his eyes. My guts died before his aural presence, leaving me totally powerless and anxious at his grace.
“Where have you been?’’
I didn't expect the question, worse more the feeble tone with which he asked. My gaze shot up immediately to meet his intense caramel eyes, and it instantly felt he was the only thing in the room. The only object I could see. It was just the two of us left in the world.
“I…I'm.. sorry.’’ The words left my lips unconsciously.
“What's this nonsense drama? Enough!’’ Thompson yelled out of nowhere, disrupting the moment.
What cut me the most was the manner Cyril dropped his gaze almost nonchalantly, and proceeded to make the declaration he proposed earlier with a straight face. Weren't we being emotional just now?
“I heard your son went missing for about thirty-six hours now and……’’
“It's not up to thirty-six hours yet!’’ Thompson snapped.
‘‘Yeah well, whatever. It'd still get to thirty six hours anyway. You don't even have a single hope of finding him, isn't that really scary?’’
“What's your deal damn punk!’’ Thompson yelled carelessly.
I didn't realise they'd gotten to the stage where he could now call the ‘almighty high king’ names!
“Watch you smelly tongue, boy.’’
A familiar voice warned from the exit way. I never realised ha had been standing there.
Lance!
How couldn't he have said anything to me!
“I bring you a favourable offer.’’ A devilish smirk crawled unto his face. One that I'd seen so well that I could identify the movies behind it.
This offer would be nothing close to easy!
