UNEXPECTED PRESENCE
UNEXPECTED PRESENCE
Chapter 75
Thompson's pov
So why did you have to call me?’’ I screamed into the phone, definitely sparking currents in his ear drums.
“I beg your pardon, sir.’’ He disconnected immediately.
Bloody incompetent fools! How dare he call me to tell stories? I made it clear That none of them reached my phone except they had their hands on Adrian!
A gentle knock sounded at the door, but I was in the least mood to respond to such nuisance. It's been just a few hours to complete forty-eight hours that Adrian disappeared, and not a single person has been able to provide a helpful account on his whereabouts.
That annoying knock came on the door again, but then a voice followed that made my head perk up instantly.
“Let me in if he won't give any responses. Are you silly?’’ She thundered. Right outside. Behind the door.
“Alessia?’’ I muttered in disbelief. My feets found their motion instantly, making a U-turn towards the door.
I dragged it open in a sharp pull, and her figure came to view indeed. I was dazed for seconds, stunned, bewildered, with nothing in my head for moments.
“Oh. There he is I guess.’’ She sprinted out, holding my eye contact.
The maid scurried away instantly. I hadn't been easy on them since the past hours of Adrian's disappearance. I didn't appreciate getting even a glance at any of them.
“Hi, Thompson. I believe you know why I'm here.’’ She sounded, folding her arms below her chest with serious eyes.
Like she hadn't been away for almost a week now. Like I didn't have lots of men in search of her right as we speak. Like she had shared a conversation with me just yesterday. She dared sound so unaffected.
“Where have you snuck out from?’’ The words rolled off my lips. The only thoughts in my head.
“You ask me that when there's a more serious question? What is this I hear about my son? No I don't really care about the rumors, just get him out, I need to see him.’’ She demanded, and my heart squeaked.
I chose to ignore her attitude and proceeded to speak.
“Do you realise how hard I've searched for you? How could you turn up so easily after the efforts I put into finding you?’’ I slowly advanced to her as I spoke, my heart pumping hard like it was gonna blow up real soon.
“Don't play that trick with me Thompson.’’ She stepped backwards, fully conscious of my movements.
“How could you be so incompetent? This is why you were bound on tying me down with you even though you had Annalise right? Just a few days I left and Adrian went missing!’’ She screamed.
“Don't blame it on me. There was an attack on the pack.’’ I found myself sorting defence.
“Oh really? So what, you didn't see it necessary to put a watch over the house?” She yelled back.
“Annalise was with them!’’ I blurted out in annoyance and frustration, hating the way she painted the whole situation on my face. I mean I was also affected, not her alone!
“Annalise isn't it? Of course it has to be that bitch! You know how much she detest Adrian yet you dare keep him under her watch?’’
“Words Alessia.’’ I warned.
“Oh, she's a bitch. A bloody one at that.”
“She isn't responsible for Adrian's disappearance. She tried her best but the bad feeds you infested in Adrian made him go against her. Now look where it landed us.’’ I fired intently at her. She always had a fucking comeback for goodness sake!
“Well maybe if you hadn't locked me up in a smelly rotting dungeon, none of this would have happened.’’ She spat, storming out before I could utter a word.
“A..Alessia! Alessia!!’’ I ran after her immediately.
It was no doubt, judging from her directions, that she was heading to my master's bedroom.
“Get back here, Alessia. I'm not even done with you.’’ I called after her.
Not until she stormed into the room and a painful cry from Annalise reached my ears, with Alessia's voice echoing back into the silence of the room, that realization struck me.
“Oh fucking moon goddess!’’ I slapped my forehead.
She managed to pull Annalise out. Only then did I realise she had her fierce grip on Annalise's hair all along. Little wonder she'd been screaming like a crazy maniac all the while.
“Come off it, Alessia!’’ I intervened, separating the scuffle to face her with hot breaths breezing off my nostrils.
‘‘You left your hiding place back here after days of running away from your pack like a damn offender, and you think you have any right to behave however you like?’’ I yelled, fed up with the nonsense already.
This wasn't how things were supposed to go. Alessia shouldn't be having an upper hand.
“I went into hiding because you literally almost killed me, and now you let my son go missing. How do you still have the guts to speak all that gibberish?’’ Tears slipped off her eyes, leaving wet lines on her cheeks.
“We'll find him. I have search going on all over for him. We'll surely get some news soon.’’ I swallowed, holding back the burst of emotions that riled me up at her words.
“Crazy woman! Where in hell did you slip out from? And all that came to your plastic head was assaulting me?’’ Annalise spiked up. She'd only just recovered from the gripping pain Alessia undeniably planted on her scalp.
Alessia turned swiftly to her, and I almost expected another breakout until I captured the expression on her face.
It held painful remorse, sadness, and timidity.
“Where have I gone wrong with you? All Liah's life, all I've ever done is care and cater for her. I've loved and treated her like my own even the times you couldn't be there for her. You couldn't even pay that single favour to me?’’ She wept.
“Well, maybe if you hadn't chicken out like a creepy thief, he wouldn't have tried going in search of you.’’ Annaliae spat back. But her last words were what caught my attention.
“What do you mean?’’ I voiced out instantly.
