A DREADFUL NEWS

A DREADFUL NEWS
Chapter 74

Alessia's pov.

I rushed to my feets immediately Hedges stepped in, carefully checking out the expression wrapping his face, but he kept a neutral gaze.

“What's the update?’’ Lady Amora inquired just before I did.

“It's safe. We were able to reach him and stop him from speaking a word about you.” Hedges replied, leaving a long breath off my lips in relief.

‘‘So what does that mean?’’ Lady Amora inquired further.

‘‘The Alpha doesn't know we reached him. He still thinks Zack is on the errand he sent him to Silverstone pack for.’’ Hedges explained.

“Oh, I see.’’ Came lady amora.

“That's great news isn't it?’’ For some reason, I needed an assurance.

I guess so but….’’ Hedges trailed off.

‘‘But what?’’ I and Lady Amora chorused.

‘‘But I think there's a greater problem.’’ He let out, sending my heart into a drown down the pit of my stomach.

‘‘What problem?’’ Lady Amora asked while I nodded briefly in support.

‘‘I heard…you have a son with the Alpha?’’ I was more of a question from Hedges. Of course Ophelia must have mentioned it to him.

“Adrian…’’ I muttered out, rejecting the realisation that threatened to dawn on me.

‘‘It seems he's gone missing….’’

‘‘What?’’

‘‘No!’’ I shot out instantly. ‘’There is no way that's possible, he couldn't have.’’ I shook my head in dread. I refused to accept such news.

“Zack gave the news, saying the pack is in chaos with a wide search going on everywhere.” Hedges insisted with a scary manner of seriousness in both his voice and face.

My heart quivered, goosebumps propping all over my skin as a mysterious cold wind hit my face.

“You've got to be kidding. How did that happen?’’ Lady Amora sprinted out in mere wonders.

No, I didn't expect her to feel more than just simply ‘shocked’. She had always regarded Adrian as Thompson's son who was the solid reason why I'd remained stuck with Thompson despite the circumstances.

‘‘He couldn't get complete details, but from what he knows, the child went missing from home. No one saw him leave the house.’’ Hedges said, breaking my heart wider.

“How long has this been?’’ My voice trembled, dread overwhelming my system with a consuming force.

‘‘About two days….’’

“No!’’ I staggered heavily as his words hit me like a destructive thunder.

“Amelia!’’ Lady Amora rushed to hold me. She must have sensed that I was going to slump over and I really was.
“Get me home.”

‘‘You should relax a bit….’’

“I need to get home this minute, my son us missing and you're suggesting I just sit back?’’ I screamed.

I lost my mind! Adrian was missing. He had been missing for two whole days and I'd been sitting still doing absolutely nothing! How could he have disappeared? What if he was hidden somewhere by my enemies? What if he was dead…..

“No! No, Fucking no!!’’ I shook the scary thought from my head, losing my frame from Lady Amora's hold. I bolted to the door.

“Don't let her get out.’’ Lady Amora called, and Hedges was quick to hold me back.

“Let go! What do you mean to do trying to stop me?’’ I screamed unbelievably, tears stinging my eyes with the harsh constricting pain in my chest.

“Calm down. It could be a plot.’’ Lady Amora yelled back.

‘‘What do you mean by plot? The only possible plot here is a plot threatening Adrian's life!!’’

‘‘It could be a plot to get you out of your hiding place.’’ She sprinted out. Like I cared.

“Then so be it. If that's what it is then Thompson has succeeded. I don't care what it is, I just have to see my child.’’ I wept.

“Hedges will go there and get more details….’’ She was talking when a phone rang out, interrupting her.

“Oh, it's Zack.’’ Hedges announced before raking the call.

“What's the situation?’’ He asked squarely. His gaze subconsciously swatted yo me but it seemed he was able to pull some control to make it less suspicious.

Well, my suspicions builded a skyscraper by that one single gesture.

“It's not fine right? Adrian truly went missing, didn't he?’’ I spoke immediately the call disconnected.

“He did. I don't think it's some sort of a plot.’’

“Take me home.’’ I simply said.

‘‘Alessia….’’

“Save it, lady Amora. Will you take me home or would you rather I go into the roads and find my way myself?’’ I cut her immediately.

Hedges sighed. “It's okay, I'll take her myself.’’

“How about the Alpha and the situation of things over here?’’ Lady Amora said worriedly.

Just how could she be more concerned about the pack affairs right now?

“I'll explain things my own way to him. We should get going now.’’ Hedges said dismissively, and for the first time since I've known him I appreciated his stoic nature.

I almost went crazy during the ride back to Silverstone. It was quite a distance, long enough to make me insane before our arrival. I could no longer put so much thought into the idea of facing Thompson again. All I wished for was having Adrian in my arms.

“We're here.’’ Hedges announced, pulling me from my thoughts.

I looked up to meet a familiar environment, though it was nothing close to our destination.

“What are you talking about, we are yet to get in.’’ I voiced my thoughts.

“I heard there's a gang up around the borders. Sources say it's the lycans. I think your pack has stirred troubles with the lycans this time.’’ He explained.

“What? The lycans are armed around the borders, is that what you're saying?’’ I could discern his words, my head was in a hazy state.

‘‘Exactly. According to Zack, there's a hidden route which apparently, only the pack members know about. You could lead the direction of such route.’’ He answered.

That must be the secret route I was going to direct the lycan horseman to take me in before he got killed. But how could Zack have found out about it?

I led him in the directions as required and before long, we were right before the gate.

A long stroke traveled down my belly as I watched the gates. I swallowed it up with determination, mustering all the courage to face Thompson's shameless face again. I stepped out of the car and headed in.
