Chapter 57 I've Been Reported
And these words made Elena tremble with anger.
It was her favorite family photo, destroyed like this by Cora.
"Elena, you wet my bed. How am I supposed to sleep tonight?"
As Cora looked at her wet sheets, she felt a chill run down her spine. When she looked at Elena, resentment appeared on her face.
"Am I allowed to sleep tonight?" Elena threw the broken photo onto her bed. "Fix this photo for me tonight."
"Are you mad? How am I supposed to fix it when it's already broken like this?" Cora rolled her eyes. These past few days, when Cora had been obedient and Elena hadn't punished her, Cora had forgotten about Elena's punishment.
Elena smirked and then picked up the air conditioner remote control next to her, setting it to a very "comfortable" temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
But now the bedsheet was soaked in icy water. The damp clothes were still sticking to Cora's body.
Cora couldn't help but sneeze.
"If you can't fix it today, then don't sleep tonight."
Elena's face had a cold and cruel smile on it. She was very satisfied.
As soon as she finished speaking, she walked out of Cora's room with the remote control in her hand, and locked the door.
"Elena, open the door!"
Behind her, Cora started banging on the door with force.
Elena stretched lazily. How dare Cora challenge her bottom line? Let Cora fend for herself.
While Elena was having breakfast, her phone rang twice. It was a picture sent by Nina.
Two women were lying neatly in a hospital room.
One of them had a swollen face that could barely be recognized, while the other had a high fever and a runny nose, looking completely disheveled.
Elena chuckled and leisurely took a sip of coffee.
"Elena, I'm in charge of these two now. How do you want to 'take care' of them?" Nina asked.
Elena tilted her head. "Let them know how cruel society is, so they'll be more obedient in the future."
Nina nodded. Elena was truly kind-hearted.
Before Elena even left the house, she received an overseas phone call.
She was somewhat surprised. Why were overseas calls coming to her cellphone?
Could it be a project from abroad?
Owen had been negotiating various projects these days, and there might be a foreign project just right for him.
"Hello," Elena held the phone to her ear.
The person on the other end of the line hesitated for a moment. "I'm Bryan, do you have time today? Let's have a meal together."
Elena smiled faintly, thinking that this man was interesting, actually changing his phone number to call her.
"No time."
Although this man went to great lengths to ask her for a meal, she still casually refused with a few words.
Bryan covered his heart, his handsome face paled.
"What about tonight?"
"No time either," Elena smiled faintly. "Mr. Richter, do you have something to say? Otherwise, tell me now on the phone. After all, we both are busy, so let's not waste time on dinner dates."
Bryan pursed his lips, a shadow passing over his face.
Did she say that having a meal with him was a waste of time?
For a moment, Bryan felt a complex feeling.
"Do you want to say it? I'm in a hurry..."
"It's about my grandmother. I want to thank you in person."
Finally getting through the call, Bryan quickly stated his purpose.
Elena felt a bit tired holding up her phone, so she lazily leaned against the door frame. "Oh, I see. You're welcome."
Halfway through the call, she suddenly heard a knock on the door.
Elena opened the door and found two men in uniforms. They were sturdy in build, and their appearance was a bit ugly and intimidating.
"Ms. Winston, we are detectives from the investigative bureau. Someone reported that you intentionally harmed others."
Elena frowned and then said to the phone, "I have something here, I'll hang up for now."
On the other end of the phone, Bryan vaguely heard the term "investigative bureau."
Bryan narrowed his eyes, his expression somewhat inscrutable. He wondered, did Elena get into trouble?
"Excuse me, officers, are you mistaken? I'm a law-abiding citizen and have never done anything illegal," Elena spread her hands, innocence written all over her face.
Her expression made the two detectives pause for a moment. They thought, this beautiful woman indeed didn't seem like someone who would commit serious crimes.
However...they did receive a report.
"Do you know Jessica Winston?" one detective asked.
A smile appeared on Elena's face. "I know her."
"In that case, you're coming with us."
Elena was somewhat surprised. Jessica was an interesting person; she actually reported her?
She wanted to see who would come out on top in the end.
The detective handcuffed her hands. Elena didn't resist.
Gotta follow the rules.
Elena obediently got into the car and followed the two detectives.
The prosecutor's office was unusually quiet. The two detectives brought Elena to the lobby.
Adjacent to them was a woman lying on the ground.
It was her cousin.
Elena rubbed her forehead. Then she elegantly sat down on the wooden chair.
"What happened? Did you disfigure yourself?" Elena asked, laughing at Jessica's swollen face.
"Elena, what on earth did you use? Why does my face keep getting more swollen?" Jessica's speech was unclear, her voice somewhat muffled.
Elena's face darkened, and she lost her previous good temper. "Jessica, are you trying to frame me?"
