Chapter 58 Bryan Stepped in for Her
The slap she had just given hadn't used much force. It would have been enough for Jessica's face to go back to normal after a night. But now her face was becoming more swollen.
It seemed that Jessica had put in a lot of effort to frame Elena, even using cruel means against herself.
"What framing? I don't understand what you're saying. It was clearly caused by you!" Jessica's emotions gradually became more agitated.
"Miss Jessica, please calm down first," the detective quickly stepped forward to appease Jessica's emotions.
"You must give me an explanation and punish this bad woman properly. She is ruining my face." Jessica sadly covered her own cheeks and cried pitifully.
Elena looked down and started playing with her own ring, completely ignoring Jessica's accusations. Even at this serious moment, she was still using her phone to deal with company matters.
One detective was somewhat surprised, marveling at how strong this woman was internally.
After a while, Captain Louis walked in with the hospital test results.
"The results are out," he said, causing Elena to slowly raise her head.
"She used hydrocortisone on her face, causing facial swelling. Overdosing on this medication and failing to administer treatment in time can potentially affect the respiratory system and lead to death, right?" Elena smiled faintly. Her analysis made it seem as if she were detached from the situation, as if it had nothing to do with her.
Louis was stunned; the drug test results were indeed as the woman in front of him described.
"You see, she knows it very well. She wanted to harm me and used poison on me!" Jessica secretly felt excited. This woman was really foolish; she indirectly admitted to the crime.
It seemed that the rumors outside were true, that Elena was an idiot.
"Ms. Elena, do you have anything to explain? Did you use this medication with the intention of harming Ms. Jessica?" Louis emphasized his tone and turned on the recording pen.
Elena chuckled. Just as she was about to explain, a gust of hot air blew in.
The door of the hall had been opened at some point. A man, enveloped by the heat outside, instantly dispelled the coolness around Elena.
Elena unconsciously furrowed her brow.
"It wasn't Elena," the man said slowly, his voice chilling.
Especially when Bryan saw the cold handcuffs in Elena's hands, his face darkened.
Elena's skin was too delicate, already rubbed red by the iron handcuffs. But she sat there quietly, seemingly unaware.
"Mr. Richter, were you a witness?" Louis asked in astonishment.
Upon hearing Bryan's voice, Elena couldn't help but look up.
How did he come here?
Elena pursed her lips, feeling awkward meeting like this.
"No," Bryan's voice was cold. His tall figure stood in the middle of the hall, giving off a sense of oppression.
Jessica thought Bryan came to help her and smiled with joy. But her movement was too big, affecting her half side of the face. For a moment, she looked somewhat grotesque.
"Then does Mr. Richter have other evidence?" asked Louis patiently.
He never expected the social celebrity of Sunnia to come. After all, they were just dealing with a small case.
Elena also turned her head slightly, her eyes showing rare emotions.
Is he here to protect his mistress again?
Elena laughed, one moment it was Maya, and the next moment it was Jessica.
His life is really colorful.
"Hydrocortisone is a banned substance, and the only channel for its distribution is through the Richter Group's testing," Bryan said indifferently.
"And then?" These words were spoken by Elena, in the same cold and ruthless tone as Bryan's.
Louis stood between the two of them, feeling somewhat superfluous.
"Bryan, you should give me justice," Jessica cried even harder. But Bryan didn't even look at her.
"The Richter Group's recent order list for this drug contains no information about Elena," he implied that Elena didn't have this drug.
When these words were spoken, Elena was astonished.
Elena couldn't understand why Bryan would defend her.
"Mr. Richter, are you sure Elena's name isn't on the drug order list?" Louis confirmed again. "Providing false testimony can lead to legal consequences."
"I know," Bryan frowned with impatience due to the questioning. His handsome face twisted slightly, but it didn't diminish the refinement of his features.
Maybe God had spent some extra effort when creating Bryan's features.
"Can you let her go?" Bryan's face was as cold as frost, and the heat he had just absorbed outside had now dissipated.
Jessica stood frozen in place, almost unable to react.
Wasn't Bryan standing up for her? Why was he helping Elena now?
She was unconvinced!
Just as Jessica was about to retort, she suddenly felt a sharp pain like needles pricking her face.
The pain made her almost faint.
"You can, but you need to provide some evidence afterwards to ensure authenticity," Louis said impartially.
"Then loosen her handcuffs first," Bryan said coldly.
These people were treating Elena like this, not putting him in their eyes at all!
"And one more thing..." Although Louis didn't want to offend Bryan, he still had to fulfill his duties...
So he naturally wouldn't let any bad person go.
"Speak!" Bryan's patience had run out at this moment.
"Even if Elena didn't use drugs, the fact that she assaulted someone is true. We still need to detain her for three days."
Bryan narrowed his eyes, and his murderous aura slowly intensified. He coldly looked at the stubborn inspector in front of him.
Just as he was about to forcibly take the key to the handcuffs...
Elena, who had remained silent all this time, spoke up, "This is the surveillance footage, you can take a look. I was just defending myself. It shouldn't be considered illegal for me to fight back in this situation."
Elena was skilled at video editing. The footage in Louis' hands now all favored her.
Louis instructed the two detectives to transfer the footage to his phone.
After watching the video, he determined that Elena was indeed acting in self-defense and quickly had one of the detectives unlock the handcuffs.
Elena moved her wrist a bit and said, "Thank you, Louis."
"Sorry for causing trouble. Mr. Richter can directly send me the list of people who purchased hydrocortisone in the past few days."
Louis let out a sigh of relief and released the person without any worries.
Bryan walked out of the prosecutor's office gate with Elena.
He had long legs, but he purposely walked slowly.
Just to walk behind Elena.
His intentions were too obvious. Elena had already noticed.
