Chapter 43 Bryan's Gift Arrived
"Ms. Elena, the birthday banquet is about to start. Mr. Winston asked me to come and find you," Sean respectfully approached.
Elena was admiring the fish tank with her chin resting on her hand.
Hugo chuckled helplessly, "Ms. Elena, let's go. Stop looking."
Their family occupied one table, while the other people sat at another table.
"Elena, come sit here," Jeff noticed his granddaughter and quickly patted the seat next to him.
For the past few years, the seat next to him had always been empty, reserved for his granddaughter.
Elena sat next to Jeff.
The other members of the Winston family were extremely jealous, and some even wanted to throw Elena out.
Especially Cora and Jessica, they were furious to the point of almost bending the cutlery in their hands.
"Let me introduce everyone, this is Elena. She has been busy with work in the past few years and couldn't come back, but from now on, Elena will attend my birthday celebrations. If any of you dare to gossip about Elena behind her back, don't blame me for reprimanding you."
Even though it was Jeff's birthday celebration, he was only focused on taking care of Elena.
"Grandpa, today is your birthday. You are the star," Elena lightly tugged on Jeff's arm.
"Make a wish," Elena personally lit the candles.
"Yes, grandpa, make a wish," the other younger generation chimed in.
Elena looked at her grandpa's profile and felt like crying. She had been absent for five years, but she would definitely make it up to her grandpa in the future. She would cherish her relationship with him.
"Mr. Winston, the Richter family has arrived with gifts," Sean reported, emphasizing that it was the Richter family.
Upon hearing the name 'Richter,' Elena's hand holding her drink stiffened. Sunnia City only had one Richter family.
Upon hearing 'the Richter family,' Jeff's expression instantly turned cold. "Throw their stuff out."
"Wait a minute..." Elena bit her lip. "Sean, who delivered the gift from the Richter family?"
After a moment of silence, Sean replied, "Mr. Richter delivered it personally. He is still at the door."
"Oh my, Mr. Richter actually came."
"Could it be that he has taken a liking to someone in our family?"
"What are you thinking? Even if he did, it wouldn't be our turn. There's still Jessica."
"Who knows, maybe Mr. Richter came for Jessica."
Although Jessica had a chaotic personal life, she was well-known as a socialite in Sunnia City. Many wealthy youths liked her.
Hearing everyone's words, Jessica's previous resentment suddenly dissipated. She subconsciously adjusted her hair and clothes. Could it be that Bryan really came for her?
"And... Mr. Richter also said he wanted to meet Ms. Winston," Sean added.
"He can't really be here for Jessica!"
"I envy her so much."
"It's Mr. Richter we're talking about, the heir of the wealthiest family in Sunnia City."
Everyone became more excited upon hearing the mention of Ms. Winston.
Jessica blushed and nervously grabbed onto her own clothes, anxiously looking at Jeff. She was waiting for Jeff to let her go out to meet Bryan.
The Winston family had a rule: without Jeff's permission, no one was allowed to leave the table during meals.
"Tell him to take the gift and leave. Tell him that we, the Winston family, don't welcome him," Jeff said angrily. If Bryan were in front of him now, he might have just punched him.
That brat dared to bully his granddaughter? Hmph, he would get his revenge sooner or later.
"Yes," Sean went out.
Elena lowered her head at the mention and carefully peeled shrimp for her grandfather.
Bryan would come unexpectedly.
She didn't know who he was coming to see. Elena didn't think it was herself.
Seeing Jeff drive Sean away, Jessica was a little upset. "Grandfather, shouldn't you accept this as a gesture from the Richter family? Maybe you should keep it?"
Jeff glared at her. "Let's eat."
Jessica could only keep silent. She was a little disappointed, hoping the banquet would end soon.
"Mr. Richter, please leave. This gift is too valuable for Mr. Winston to accept," Sean said expressionlessly as he had the gift returned to Bryan's car.
Bryan tightened his lips, his face becoming gloomy.
He narrowed his eyes and glanced inside the house. "I understand."
The temperature today was still high, but Bryan, as usual, was wearing a suit. He was still standing outside the Winston Old House.
Sean sighed. "Mr. Richter, you no longer have any relationship with Ms. Elena. Please leave."
Bryan, towering figure, froze. He explained, "My gift ... Elena has nothing to do with it."
Consider it as compensation for the Winston family.
Sean had nothing to say. He had delivered Jeff's message, now he could go back inside.
"Elena, eat a little more," Jeff said with a smile.
Others watched with envy.
"These are all your favorite foods," Jeff said with a smile.
Elena felt warmth in her heart. Being away from home for so long, she knew how precious this relative was.
She had always tried to love others, but she had forgotten that she herself was worthy of being loved.
When lunch was over, Jessica was the first to leave the table. She ran to the door, hoping that Bryan hadn't left yet.
Elena tenderly massaged Jeff's shoulders.
Her techniques were skillful, with just the right amount of strength.
"Elena, has the Richter family been bullying you these years?"
Jeff hadn't wanted to bring up anything about the Richter family, but he couldn't help himself.
Elena paused her massaging and then smiled faintly. "No."
Jeff sighed. In the end, it was still his fault for not protecting Elena.
"Grandfather, Sean told me that you haven't been taking your medication properly recently. You must remember to take your medication every day. You can't stop taking the medication for high blood pressure." Elena murmured softly as she massaged him.
If someone else said something like this, Jeff would have been impatient long ago. But when these words came out of Elena's mouth, he felt a sweet warmth in his heart.
Jeff nodded like a child, "Okay, I'll listen to you."
"Shh, Grandfather is sleeping. Let's keep it quiet outside. Don't disturb him." Elena gently closed the door and instructed.
"All right, Ms. Elena, thank you for your hard work. Mr. Winston used to take a long time to fall asleep. You are amazing." Jeff praised.
Elena pursed her lips, "I taught you this massage technique. You can give my grandfather a massage when I'm not here."
"Okay." Sean nodded excitedly.
Elena had indeed changed a lot from five years ago. The old Elena used to always clash with Bryan because of Jeff. But now... she was different.
After Elena came out of the hall, she saw a man and a woman standing at the entrance of the old mansion. These two people were standing very close together.
Although she could only see Bryan's back, she instantly recognized him.
