Chapter 41 Painting

Seeing Elena, Regina and Cora were stunned. How did this stubborn girl come?

They clearly threw the invitation into the toilet.

"Grandfather, don't get upset. If you're not happy, I can have my sister get kicked out right now."

Cora thought her grandfather was angry. She quickly tried to comfort him.

But Jeff pushed Cora away, "You shut up! Anyone who dares to kick out Elena is going against me."

Jeff was very angry.

When Elena saw Jeff's drastic movements, she was startled. She quickly went forward to support him, "Grandfather, stay cool."

Elena’s voice was sweet, which made Jeff feel like everything was back to three years ago.

"Elena, you... you really came back? I'm not dreaming, right?" Jeff tightly held onto Elena's sleeve, his voice filled with excitement.

He was afraid that everything was just a dream.

"Grandfather, it's me... I came back." Elena's eyes glimmered and her voice choked up a bit.

She was so willful, but her grandfather didn't blame her at all.

"Good girl..."

"Grandpa, I'm sorry. I was too stubborn before, I…" Elena lowered her gaze, her voice filled with guilt.

"Don't say anymore. It's all in the past. Silly girl, as long as you come back, I've always been here," Jeff sighed. His well-behaved granddaughter could never do wrong.

Elena sniffled, feeling even more uncomfortable.

Next to them, Cora watched everything with clenched teeth. Was this old man blind? Can't he see how good she is to him? What does Elena have that's so special? She has affected the reputation of the Winston family.

Watching this heartwarming scene, Cora suddenly spoke in a sinister tone, "Elena, you're too immature. You got married to Grandpa and other men without telling anyone. That's bad enough. And now you're getting a divorce. Your actions are tarnishing the reputation of the Winston family."

Cora said these words with the intention of driving a wedge between Elena and Jeff.

However, when Jeff heard the word "divorce," he seemed happy.

"Elena, you got a divorce?"

Elena pursed her lips and nodded.

"That's great. That brat never deserved you," Jeff exclaimed joyfully. He almost jumped up with excitement.

"No, did that brat do something to hurt you? Elena, you tell me, no matter how powerful the Richter family is, I won't let him bully you," Jeff's expression suddenly became serious.

"No, he didn't. I wanted the divorce," Elena said. Hearing her grandpa taking her side, Elena felt warm inside.

Jeff breathed a sigh of relief. As long as Elena wasn't being mistreated, that was all that mattered.

"Sweetie, don't be sad. I have many resources here. You can choose the man you like," Jeff reassured, worried that Elena was still upset.

"Grandpa, you don't have to worry about me. I'm not sad anymore. Now..." Elena paused. She looked coolly at Cora and Regina, "I just want to manage what my parents left behind, so that it doesn't get taken away by outsiders."

Jeff sighed. Elena was too hardworking. A girl her age should be doted on by her family, not managing a business.

"Good girl, if you're tired, you can come back to the old mansion. I'll take care of you."

"Okay," Elena nodded.

Cora clenched her fists in anger.

Regina, afraid that Cora would act impulsively again, quickly pulled her back and said, "Don't be so impatient."

Regina straightened her own clothes and approached slowly, "Elena, today is your grandpa's birthday. What gift did you prepare?"

Jeff glared at Regina. She talked too much.

"Elena, don't listen to them. I don't need a gift. Just seeing you come back is enough."

Elena smiled and took out a painting from her bag.

The painting was not big. Cora glanced at it mockingly. Did Elena deceive Jeff with something worthless? It was too ridiculous.

Soon, Jeff would know who really cared about him.

Cora patiently waited to see Elena embarrass herself when the painting was opened.

But when Jeff saw the painting, his hands trembled.

"Wait... Let me put on my glasses," Jeff hurriedly put on his glasses, and then carefully put on disposable gloves. After doing all this, he sat down and looked closely.

"This painting is real," Jeff exclaimed to himself, "It's actually real."

The painting was done by a famous American artist named Snow. The artist had a unique style.

When Snow's first painting appeared, it shocked the entire art world. They studied it for two months, but couldn't imitate that effect.

However, Snow only painted two paintings, one of which appeared at an auction.

Jeff loved collecting paintings. Unfortunately, he was late for the auction, and that painting had already been bought.

And he had no way to obtain the other one. Jeff had been regretful for a long time.

He never expected the other painting to belong to Elena.

"Elena, where did you get..." Jeff carefully put the painting away, as if holding a treasure in his hand.

"A friend gave it to me. Grandpa, as long as you like it," Elena smiled.

Elena smiled. It was just a painting. She didn't expect Jeff to like it so much.

Jeff was extremely happy. "Like" was not enough to describe his feelings. For someone who loved painting, this painting was extremely precious.

"Elena, your friend is amazing. This painting was done by Snow. There are only two in the world. Everyone wants it but can't buy it."

Jeff's voice trembled as he spoke.

Elena tilted her head. So her painting was so valuable?

Then... should she pick up those thrown-away scraps of paper from the trash?

Cora was also stunned when she heard this name.

Although she didn't understand painting, this artist was so famous that she had heard of him.

"Could it be fake?" Cora murmured quietly.

"Why are you still here?" Jeff looked at Cora with annoyance.

"Grandpa..." Cora immediately felt aggrieved.

"Don't call me that."

Jeff spoke coldly.

Cora couldn't take it anymore and ran out of the hall.

"Elena, don't mind your sister's attitude. She has a bad temper."

Elena smiled, "Don't worry, Grandpa, I'm different now."

Jeff looked at Elena tenderly, "I'll go hide this painting. There are a lot of people here today. I'm afraid someone might take it."

This was the gift his granddaughter gave him. He had to take good care of it and not lose the painting.

"Alright, then I will take a stroll around the old mansion." She hadn't been back in a long time and wanted to reminisce about the past.
