Chapter 120

Chapter 120
“Yeah, we don’t need her to be distracted during tests. She worries about you so much about everyone. Let's eat so you can take a nap you look tired.” He says, smiling while rubbing my belly with the hand that’s not holding his plate. I nod because he is right; these babies are taking so much out of me. I would have answered him, but I have pasta and bread in my mouth at the moment. After we were done leaving and he helped me stand to go lay down. He laughs when I yawn because he knows I would have tried to stay up to spend time with them. I love family time, it wasn’t something I got a whole lot of when I was younger, and I want to make sure I show my love for them with the time I spend with them, not the things I buy. I get settled into bed and Kane puts on Golden Girls for me to watch while I fall asleep, and he also decided to rub my lower back while he worked on his computer next to me.
Over the next few months, I went crazy because I couldn’t do anything really. I am so used to being active, I understand it is good for the baby's health, so I have been doing what I was told. It is Thanksgiving and I feel like a whale. I can’t get up without help; I can’t walk down the stairs alone because I can’t see my feet and I also can’t cook much because my belly gets in the way. Does anyone have any idea how much it sucks to be a chef and not be able to cook big meals like I love to do? The only thing I got to do today was cut up veggies and fruit for anything we needed. I had to sit sideways in the chair at the island, and it drove me nuts. Kane and our fathers set up the table because it had leaves that went into the table to make it bigger. I finished cutting everything we needed so I went to get the tablecloth I bought last week online. It has turkeys on it. Link helped me pick it out when we were looking at blenders for making baby food, and we also looked at clay or paint hand and footprint memory boxes. It was Links idea, he said he didn’t like the clay one, it was too squishy. I still remember it took everything I had not to laugh at what he said. Kane thought it was hilarious, he said we will get the paint one so Link can be involved in helping make them. I bring the tablecloth back, Yolanda sees it and smiles, “That is cute, when did you get this?”
“Yes, it came a couple of days ago. Link helped me pick it out. He said the colorful tablecloth is for when the babies are big enough to have a kids' table, that he plans to sit with them when that happens, and the regular one is for our table. They were 2 packs, one for both types of tables. I was originally looking for a single tablecloth but when he seen this one, he got so excited, so I couldn’t say no. Plus he had a good argument for why I should get this one, he said it would save money and time so I smiled and agreed with him. In the bag on my arm had salt and pepper shakers with a little funnel, napkin rings, and napkins to match. I added them after Link thought we were done. I also printed one of those diagrams on how to fold them or roll them depending on what we wanted to do. I thought he would like to give it a try. What do you think?” I asked her while opening the bag for her to see.
“Those are cute. I think he will have a lot of fun folding the napkins and filling those shakers. Are those pilgrims?” She asks, looking in the bag.
“Yes, a boy and a girl. There is also a turkey shaped gravy bowl in the cabinet I got it a few weeks back. It came with a platter to match. I thought they would be cute for today. If you would like to take the tablecloth, I will take the bag to Link so he can start on these. I also think I am going to grab a snack before I get dizzy.” I suggested it because all this food smells makes me so hungry.
“Ok dear, I will take these to him so he can start on them. You know he will want them to be perfect. Go get a snack I got this.” She says, grabbing the bag and tablecloth from me.
I nodded and waddled off to the kitchen to grab the plate I made last night of leftovers for lunch time. Thanksgiving dinner won’t be done for another 4 hours, and I can’t wait that long to eat. I grabbed my plate, it had Lasagna Hamburger Helper, Kane was teaching Link how to make something with directions. Kendra will help him with recipes when he is ready. When it was warm, I went and sat in my chair in the living room. Kane seen me waddling to my chair and smiled. “You are supposed to be in a chair. I would have got you that.” He comes up with my cup of tea from the counter.
“I know, but the doctor said I could walk around some. I didn’t walk much the last few days so I could walk a little more today. Thank you for my tea, I forgot it when I came this way. I won’t get up until we all go to the table. I gave your mom the stuff for Link so he can help with something.” I told him.
“I saw mom talking to him, but I didn’t know what it was about. Okay, I will get back to helping in the kitchen with my sisters. Link made cookies last night after you went to sleep. He is enjoying learning how to cook. He said it is like science. I told him he wasn't wrong. I love you, here is the remote watch something on TV.” He tells me, kissing the top of my head before walking away. I put Friends on the TV and started eating while I ate my lunch.
