Chapter 117
Chapter 117
“No, he should be here soon, would you like me to call him?” Harry asks me not wanting me to stress. I shake my head yes and he gets up to go to the office to make his call.
“He will be ok sweetheart. He has an alert bracelet just like the rest of us, and none of the phones have been notified.” Yolanda says.
Kane sits next to me in his recliner smiling down at Link who is sitting right next to my legs. He loves how much his brother cares. He knows Link has a hard time showing his affection, but this shows his protectiveness. Kane looked at his brother and asked, “what’s wrong Link? You look worried.”
“I was just thinking about Liv having to go to the hospital to have the babies and I worry that people will get to her and the baby.” Link responds to the question with a puzzled and scared look on his face.
“I am having the babies here Link. They are setting up a room that will be just like a hospital room just in case I need surgery. We thought of that possibility and a nurse would sleep in the spare room until I would normally be discharged from the hospital. You will be here and so will you, mom, and dad. We will be safe Link.” I tell Link. He smiles at that like it was the right answer, but that disappears fast.
“Ok, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to worry so much. I just don’t want bad things to happen,” he looks down like he was bothering us.
“It’s ok sweetheart, I know you love them very much. You don’t have to feel bad about worrying about them. You are being an amazing uncle worrying about them and wanting them to be safe. You keep worrying and asking whatever questions you have.” Yolanda tells him with a smile at his concern about bugging us.
“Ok mom, I will ask when I have a question. I just don’t want to bug Liv.” He says, looking up at me.
“I will never be bugged by your questions.” I tell him, making sure he knows we don’t mind his questions.
Link nodded his head and went back to eating. He was reading something on his phone, probably statistics on twins. Kane leaned over to look at what he was reading. He smiled but didn’t tell me what it said.
While we ate the snacks, the catering the B&B made started being delivered. Kendra had them make spaghetti and meatballs with bread and salad. We didn’t invite a crazy amount of people because we didn’t want to fill the house with tons of people. We did let people know if they wanted to send a gift they could, and for all the stuff people sent, we sent back a thank you card with favors from the baby shower. People have thanked us for the favors and understood what we needed to keep my stress level down. Kanes extended family sent tons of gifts and Yolanda has been filling out thank you cards for the last week making sure no one was missed. We also got gifts from people we didn’t want to get gifts from, and Yolanda sent them back with a note telling them not to send anything else. Tina sent stuff and so did people from my hometown. We didn’t want to take chances on something harmful getting through, so we didn’t even open the packages.
After we ate, we opened the gifts and thanked everyone. We got clothes, blankets, swings, bouncers, 2 bassinets, bottles, toys, and tons of other things I didn’t know babies could use. Like I didn’t know about breast pads for breast feeding or lotion that helps with cracking while breast feeding. We also got these baby swaddle blankets that I thought were cool because the other way with other blankets didn’t seem to work out as well. Harry paid to have someone come baby proof the house and Yolanda did a regular delivery that will bring diapers and wipes for the next 2 years. She said every week it will ask her the size before delivering them. Selena made clothes and blankets, Kendra bought a double stroller/car seat combo, and Link got the babies each a horse stuffed animal with their names stitched on them. He learned how to do the stitching from Selena, and he was so proud of himself for learning something he didn’t really care to know how to do but wanted to do something nice for someone else. I could see how proud Kane was of his baby brother when Link told us about it. When everyone left but Kendra and Link, who automatically started putting things away while Kane started baby clothes in the washer just to be safe. Our staff rotated through the baby shower, dropping off gifts not wanting to get in the way or make the house crowded. I don’t think these babies will need clothes for the first two years of their life. My dad’s friends each made something out of wood. Two made a rocking horse with a removable piece so they could start using it when they could sit up on their own. Another made a highchair that will be set up against the table. He had measured everything to make sure it fit. The others made decorations for their walls, Winnie the Pooh characters and some other animals.
After everyone left Kendra started cleaning with Selena while Kane and his started taking the stuff that didn’t have to be washed putting it in the nursery. Link helped me take tags off all the stuff that needs to be washed so Yolanda can start them in the washer. Yolanda wanted to get some of it done today because with their schedules she wanted to get things done while she could. She plans on taking the month off when they are born to help take care of us. Her maid will come in to help with what is left to wash, so the laundry doesn’t pile up. Yolanda and Harry moved up some meetings so they could both take time off when the babies are born, so they will be super busy for the next couple of months.
